"Wow, look who is coming! Come sit with us and have breakfast with us. Amanda and I have been waiting for you," Marie Anderson said.
Sofia walked over to Marie, her eyes were still puffy from crying so much, but this time she wasn't going to stay silent after being accused in such a sneaky way. Losing a husband was a bitter pill for Sofia to swallow, she loved him and did not want to lose him just because of this untrue accusation. And now the person who deliberately broke up Sofia and Nicholas was standing right in front of her.
"Don't beat around the bush. I know that you are deliberately accusing with this cheap news, right?"
"What are you saying? I was kind enough to welcome you, but you're talking bullshit. By the way, Nick just told me that you guys are getting a divorce, he finally realized that you two don't deserve to be together. You're embarrassing my family. The only person who deserves to be Nicholas' wife is that Amanda. Not you, poor woman," Marie scoffed.
"I may not be rich like you, but I still have my pride. I will prove to everyone that what you accuse me of is not true at all. I'll accept this divorce, there's no point in continuing because Nick doesn't trust me at all, but believe me, you'll get your comeuppance!"
"You threatened me? Who do you think you are? Don't be snobbish just because you're contractually married to Nicholas, you're just a random woman that Nick chose! So don't expect him to keep your marriage, you better get out of Nick's life!"
"I will, but I'm sure one day you'll ask me for forgiveness, and when that time comes, I will never forgive you!"
Amanda and Marie laughed out loud at Sofia's words, which they thought were just talk. Sofia finally left the house, dragging her suitcase. She doesn't go back to her father's house or her aunt's house, but meets an old friend who lives in an orphanage. Sofia tells Sam, the man who runs the orphanage, what happened. Sam was furious with Nicholas, how could he not trust his own wife? Even though they haven't known each other for long, they should be able to discuss everything and find out the truth about the photo. But still, Sam couldn't do anything because of their differences.
"I'm sorry to bother you, Sam. There is no place to go. I don't wanna go back to my father or my aunt."
"No problem, Sofia. You can stay here as long as you like. I'm happy to have help taking care of the kids here."
Sofia smiled, she was touched by Sam's kindness, but there was no way she could stay here forever. She had to find a new job and help out at the orphanage at the same time.
"You can use this room, it's close to the kitchen and dining room. Doesn't it matter if the room is a little dirty and messy? this room is usually used to put things away. But don't worry, I put a TV in the room even though it's small!"
"No problem, this is more than I want. Thank Sam."
"My pleasure. Now go to bed, you must be tired from the long journey."
Sofia nodded, she was exhausted from the long walk. The distance between the apartment and the orphanage is quite far. Nicholas' house is in the center of the city, while this place is on the outskirts and also on the mountain. Sofia lay down on the single bed, turned on the TV and watched the news that made her heart break even more.
She saw Nicholas announce his engagement to Amanda, even though they had just divorced. Sofia cries, she is hurt and feels useless. If only she had been born rich, her life wouldn't be like this. There was also news that Sofia had been caught having a threesome in a hotel. Although her name was not mentioned, anyone who knew her would know it was her face.
"Why did you put me together with Nicholas, God, if it only ends in sadness? I'm tormented by this feeling of love, God." Sofia broke down, it hurt so much to see the man she loved marry another woman.
"Sofia, are you okay? Can I come in?"
Sam heard Sofia's cries, he knocked on Sofia's door and made sure his best friend was okay.
"Yeah, just a minute!"
Sofia wiped away her tears and opened the door for Sam. As soon as he saw Sofia, Sam immediately hugged her, he had also seen the news so he knew what had made Sofia cry. After crying, Sam showed Sofia something.
"Sofia, look at this."
Sam took out his laptop and kept hitting the keyboard, Sofia was still waiting to see what Sam was going to do until Sam finally showed Sofia a photo.
"You know what? This photo is really you. They're awesome." Sam told Sofia.
"What do you mean, Sam? You think I did that disgusting thing? You're evil!" Sofia slapped Sam's body. She had no idea that Sam was just like Nicholas.
"Wait, that's not what I meant!" Sam caught both of Sofia's hands that had hit him, they stared for a while after Sofia started to calm down, then she heard Sam's explanation.
"This photo is real, no editing at all. And this woman? She's dressed up to look so much like you. I don't know what kind of makeup technique they used, but clearly this woman looks so much like you. Maybe she's a makeup artist? Or character makeup? I don't know."
Sofia began to understand, so it was not a cut, but a setup. A woman was asked and dressed up like her face, then they took the photo. No wonder Nicholas was so angry, maybe he had found out and been told that it was a real photo, only the woman was a fake Sofia.
"So what do you want me to do, Sam?" asked Sofia quietly.
"Relax, I can find out who they are even though both men are wearing masks. Have you seen this? There's a small tattoo on his left leg and I can easily find this guy. Do you want to meet him?"
"Can you do that? Sam, who the hell are you? How can you do that?"
Sam didn't answer, just smiled and went back to his laptop.
"Give me thirty minutes."
Sofia nodded, giving Sam space to do something with his laptop. She went into the kitchen and made drinks for both of them, black coffee for Sam and mint tea for her.
"It's done, I've also made an appointment to meet him tonight. Are you ready?"
"What did you say, Sam? I'm going to meet this guy tonight, are you kidding me?"
