Ch. 18Hit A Hammer

Briana smiled at Sarah, "Then why did you come back here? Cherokee?" asked Briana.

"You guessed it," said Sarah.

"Yup. Because my family is here. A small town that you probably didn't even know the name of before, right?"

"Me?" Briana was confused. "Yeah, I didn't even know there was a village called Cherokee."

A small smile was etched on Sarah's lips. "Living like that bores me. You know how jerks city people are; they act like they own the world. I also missed this little village while I was there; finally, after my studies were over, I came back here and decided to help the people here."

"That's very noble," Briana said, mesmerized by Sarah's generous attitude.

Sarah's eyes looked at Briana softly. "Yeah, I've never regretted the decision I made. Some of my friends even traveled to Africa and Asia. Then stay and devote their knowledge there."

The two of them were silent for a while as they looked at the few people passing by and greeted each other warmly. Sarah's house was much different from Sean's wooden house in the middle of the forest. Sarah lived in the middle of a bustling residential area, and her house was located on the side of the road where people passed by.

"Here you will find the real life, Anna," Sarah said.

Briana agreed with her. Although she hadn't been out of Sean's forest home for long, she had noticed how the villagers lived their lives in peace. They lived well, and if there was a shortage, they didn't have to worry because the neighbors here were ready to help and provide assistance. According to Briana,
This is how social life should be. In the city, people will only find neighbors who are indifferent and don't even know each other. They won't wake up even if a neighbor's house catches fire.

In addition, Briana believes that the easy life makes people bored faster. In the city, they can get whatever they want in an instant, which is why city people always underestimate the efforts of others in survival.

Briana suddenly thought of Sean Brosnan. She didn't know what kind of life Sean led. The man lived in the forest, although he occasionally worked in the city, but he rarely socialized with residents who were quite far from his home. What if one day he had a disaster that he couldn't handle alone?

Oh, Briana forgot that she had Sarah, Mark, and his parents.

A truck belonging to the man Briana was thinking about appeared and entered Sarah's yard. Briana's body stiffened; she was surprised but tried to act nonchalant about Sean Brosnan's sudden appearance here.

Uh, what did that man come here for?

Sean parked his car in Sarah's yard. He got out of the car, and his eyes immediately fell on Briana. Briana lowered her gaze because she was nervous.

Damn, act like you don't care, Anna!

When Briana looked up again, Sean had stopped staring at her. He walked over to the two standing on the porch and positioned himself in front of Sarah and said, "Sarah, I need to talk to you."

Okay, Briana felt like a fly on the wall here. Clearly, she was not the reason why Sean had come to this place. Briana cleared her throat awkwardly instead of feeling offended, "I'll go inside, excuse me."

Sarah looked at the two in front of her in turn with confusion, but she did not prevent Briana from leaving.

Briana entered the house with her heart racing. What dream did she have last night that she could see Sean again? Well, even though it hurt that he came here just to talk to his cousin, damn it.

Briana sat in the living room with last year's issue in her hand. She really had no interest in reading the magazine, but she tried hard to focus on reading it so that Sean's arrival at this house would not disturb her thoughts.

A few minutes later, the sound of clattering steps could be heard. Sarah entered the house without Sean following behind. Briana looked at the red-haired woman with a smile on the corner of her lips. Sarah returned Briana's gaze, but then sighed softly.

"Are you okay?" asked Briana. Sarah's sigh disturbed Briana. She felt bad.

"I should have asked," Sarah said, "You and Sean, are you two okay?"

Briana was silent, not knowing what to say.

Sarah walked over to Briana and took a seat on the couch directly across from her. She sat there gracefully and then asked another question, "Did you guys fight?"

Briana shook her head slowly in response. Interrogation started? Briana thought. She was afraid Sarah would find out the truth. About her inner turmoil. Briana was not ready.

"Then why did you come into the house with such a sad face? Did Sean do something bad to you?"

It was hard to answer Sarah's question. Briana didn't even know what Sean had done to her. For his jerk attitude, he had apologized, and Briana had forgiven him. However, as for her broken heart for loving Sean, she didn't blame Sean for that at all.

"Why did he come here?" Briana asked, ignoring Sarah's earlier question.

"Nothing important, just borrowing a hammer."

Borrowed a hammer? He had a hundred hammers in his house. How ridiculous.

"And he also told me that you can come back to his house whenever you want." Sarah said Sean's message with a probing glance.

Oh?

"He said that to you?" asked Briana with one eyebrow raised.

"Yes," said Sarah. "Something strange?" Sarah asked back.

Briana was speechless. A little stunned, but she tried to control her emotions so that her face looked normal. However, once again Sean surprised Briana with his strange behavior.

First Sean kicked Briana out and then asked her to stay. Then Sean let Briana go but now said that Briana could come back whenever she wanted.

That jungle man is getting out of his mind!

Did Sean hit a hammer in his house that made him behave so strangely?
