"It's up to her. If she cared, she would have gone downstairs and prepared food for her husband. Arka can eat in his room, right?"
"You are getting rude to Lisa. Don't do that!" Wendi reprimanded, still polite.
Frans didn't care, and took the remote to switch the good program to another channel.
"I didn't mean that. Arka just spoiled her too much. Arka said Lisa refused the surrogacy program. It's still fortunate that her husband is willing and patient with a wife who can't get pregnant. Even using the event to choose everything. That's called not being self-aware," Frans exclaimed very sarcastically.
Wendi stopped what she was doing. She turned to her maid to take over. Frans had to be given some understanding. Wendi left her duties and sat beside him.
"I understand what Lisa means. Maybe for you and Arka, it's just a way to get their own bloodline. But for a woman, before becoming a mother, she wants to feel pregnant. Lisa just wants to carry her own baby, to feel the sensation of the fetus kicking and developing in her belly. If surrogacy means borrowing another woman's womb, maybe Lisa is sad because forever she can't enjoy the role of a woman who conceives and gives birth."
Wendi's explanation was only responded sarcastically by Frans.
"Does she have another choice? Whether it's her womb or another woman, the most important thing is that she provides offspring for the Wijaya Family. Did I make her disabled? And what did my son do wrong to keep obeying her when she is a woman with shortcomings?"
Wendi did not respond again. Not only Frans, she also wanted a biological grandchild. She couldn't blame Arka for still trying to cure Lisa. It just takes patience.
Meanwhile, Arka and Lisa were still enjoying themselves in their room. Arka dried his hair after shampooing. His other hand was still busy opening files on the table.
"Do you have anything else to do? Do you want to eat in the room?"
His wife was still busy gathering other dirty clothes to put in the basket. Arka hadn't noticed Lisa since earlier.
"Yes, we'll be down soon. Before I left home, I ate on the way. So I think we'll eat later tonight," said Arka.
Lisa accidentally dropped a basket of dirty cloth in the corner of the closet. She bent over slightly and felt pain in her back. Surprised to see what Lisa did, Arka immediately threw his towel and approached his wife.
"Uh, what do you want?" asked Arka as he pulled Lisa's waist away.
Lisa knitted her eyebrows and said, "I'm taking the clothes to the washing machine. Why?"
Arka chuckled. He brought Lisa to sit on the bed. It was he who picked up the cloths and gathered them into the blue basket.
"They say you can't get tired. So from now on, don't do any more work," Arka ordered in a gentle tone.
"I will wash them with a machine, right? It's not tiring either."
"No. I'll let maid do the laundry."
"What about my bra? Our underwear?"
Arka chuckled. He tidied up the pile of dirty clothes and moved the basket to the corner of the door.
"I'll do the washing myself. Yours too," Arka chuckled.
"What?"
"It's normal, Lisa. I used to do everything myself. Your this husband has been independent since he was a kid. Cooking, washing, I've done everything since then. Hey, be grateful, where else can you find a perfect husband like me?"
Lisa smiled. She was lucky to have a man like Arka as her life partner.
Lisa got up and pulled Arka's arm to face her, not caring if her husband had to be cornered against the wall. She just wanted to express how much she loved him with a gentle hug.
"You're right. I'm grateful that you never gave up on me," Lisa recalled with water starting to well up in her eyes.
Arka smiled slightly. His hand gently brushed Lisa's cheek. "Stay healthy and give birth to a child for me. I want to be able to tell him how much I love his mother."
Lisa nodded and hugged Arka. She let go of all her burdens in her husband's arms.
'I'm sure you'd be angry if you knew the truth. But just like you, I also want to give birth to a child who can take care of you if I can't survive later,' Lisa whispered inwardly while occasionally kissing Arka's shoulder.
Destiny will bring the end of their story. Arka couldn't wait to tell his parents. He reached for the envelope on the table that was Lisa's test result. His steps were hurried as Lisa followed behind him with slow steps.
Her husband's behavior was like a child who had just been given candy. Lisa was deeply moved by it.
Arka arrived in the living room and saw his parents standing up to leave the living room.
"Dad!"
Arka immediately rushed into his father's arms. Wendi didn't understand and turned to his daughter-in-law. Lisa just smiled, signaling that they would hear it directly from Arka.
Arka still continued to tighten the hug, even though he hadn't gotten a reply from Frans.
"Hey, what's wrong with you?"
Arka loved his father so much. How much he feared he would disappoint him constantly. He almost cried because he was sure his parents would be happy to hear this news.
"Don't worry, I'll make you happy as soon as possible."
Frans released Arka's embrace. His son bit his lower lip, showing how impatient he was after handing him the envelope. He walked away from them and hugged Lisa's shoulder.
Frans and Wendi opened the piece of paper. Their faces began to change. Wendi was the first to smile and hold back emotion.
"Are you pregnant, Lisa?" asked Wendi.
She immediately approached and hugged her daughter-in-law. Meanwhile, Frans began to smile even though he hadn't spoken yet. He just looked at Arka and nodded as an expression of his happiness. Emotional smiles filled the day that began in the afternoon. They took turns hugging until finally Lisa realized that her decision was right.
"Take good care of your womb. Give me a handsome grandson who will be the successor to Wijaya. Okay?" said Papa Frans while rubbing Lisa's head.
They were very happy. There was no reason for Lisa to be sad. All the sacrifices she would make would not be in vain considering this family had been so good to her all this time.
