After changing her clothes, Avril noticed her reflection. Okay. It's just Matt. A person she had even met for the first time. So, why did Avril feel dissatisfied with her appearance after screaming on the field earlier? She felt like a fool for meeting Matt in such a sweaty state. Wait a minute, what was she thinking?

Avril leaned over and took a good look at herself. There was nothing out of the ordinary. Avril even smelled his body odor. Fortunately, Avril didn't smell at all. Feeling incomplete, Avril finally sprayed perfume on her body again. At least that's all she can do at the moment.

She is now wearing jeans and a long-sleeved crop top. Avril looked at herself. Usually, Avril doesn't pay attention to her appearance. However, right now Avril is quite satisfied with her appearance. She looks cute and young. Well, Avril is still young. But, does Avril look cute? Alright! Ignore that one.

Smoothing her bangs, Avril leaves the big red bow on her head in place. Now, Avril is ready to meet Matt. He hasn't been around that long, has he? Avril unconsciously gripped the strap of her bag tightly. Here we go!

Maxime's family looks cool compared to his zombie-like brother. Even now, Avril sometimes saw the sad and worried look on her brother Alex's face. Avril wasn't sure but Alex had never once confided in Avril.

"Hey, A! Not home yet?" Someone asked, breaking Avril's reverie.

Avril raised her eyebrows at the man in front of her. He was tall with brownish hair. His eyes were as brown as his hair. Zed was wearing a cool blue jacket. Zed had just finished working out. Of course! Zed may be known as the prince charming of his school. But, Zed is almost like Avril. He could do any sport but never wanted to be tied down to any one organization.

Zed is the most desirable boy at Los Angeles Senior High School. Some girls dare to show their feelings for Zed. While others? They probably kept their feelings to themselves. Avril would sometimes confide in her friends. Sometimes Avril would tell Zed. Of course, Zed didn't take it well. Unfortunately, Avril was outside that circle. Avril didn't care about the list of attractive boys at Los Angeles Senior High School. Avril just wanted to enjoy her school days freely.

"Yes! Too bad! I was just jumping on the field," Avril replied casually.

Yes, I saw you! How did you do that somersault? That was cool!" Zed said.

Avril smiled a simple smile. Avril was used to the stares of those who thought it was natural for Avril to do so. People at her school were never surprised if she was the lead anywhere. Theater, cheerleading, and even radio. And, Zed showed it in abundance. Zed liked Avril. Everyone knew it. Avril herself knew it too.

"My parents said I'd go crazy if I kept quiet" Avril replied and laughed. That's true! Avril would go crazy if she didn't do anything. Avril likes to explore.

"I like a little noise," Zed said as he shoved his hands into his pants pockets.

Avril's eyes rounded. That was too blatant! Avril didn't know how to respond to this kind of thing. But, Zed always did the same thing over and over again. Almost everyone knew that Zed had feelings for Avril. While Avril? Until this very moment, Avril was still confused about Matt's feelings. Avril smiled uncomfortably.

"I'm too loud," Avril replied simply.

"I know. Want to go home?" Zed offered.

Avril sighed as Zed quickly changed the subject. It wasn't that Avril had high standards. It was just that being in a relationship with someone was not something Avril was looking forward to at the moment. Avril felt she wasn't ready for the drama. After all, Avril didn't feel that vibe whenever she was with Zed.

"Yes. A little tired," said Avril.

Zed laughed crisply. "I'm surprised you still say a little. You must have a lot of energy."

Avril joined in the laughter. For some reason, the pressure she felt earlier eased. Zed was good at neutralizing the atmosphere. It was also what made Avril still stick with Zed.

"I'm pretty strong," Avril said, showing off her biceps.

Zed laughed amusedly. "I'm glad you don't have the muscles of a bodybuilder."

Now Avril was laughing out loud. Avril even held her sore stomach. Zed managed to make her laugh. Oh, Zed! Avril watched Zed as his laughter began to subside.

"I'm sure my mom wouldn't allow that," Avril said with a smile.

Zed nodded solemnly. They walked down the Western corridor to the field. "Stay like this. You're already very sweet" Zed said sincerely.

Avril was lost for words. She even froze where she was. Sometimes, Avril felt she had to clarify the boundaries. Avril had even said it repeatedly but Zed never gave in at all. Zed who realized this smiled understandingly and pinched Avril's cheek.

"Did I manage to make you levitate?" Zed asked amused.

Avril chuckled. Zed's laughter managed to make Avril release her burden again. It was funny how Zed could give Avril a burden but at the same time make her let go of her burden. She looked at Zed amused. Zed was pretty special!

"If you realize, I didn't levitate earlier. I was even rooted to my spot! Are you always this blunt?" Avril quipped.

Zed took no offense at all. He even looked at the field. If he wanted to go to the parking lot, Zed had to turn left. So, what about Avril? It was rare that Zed had this kind of opportunity.

"Not entirely right not entirely wrong. I don't like holding things in" Zed said honestly.

Avril's eyes lit up. "Me too!"

Zed stopped in his tracks. Avril was like a time bomb that could explode at any moment. Oh my! Even Avril's excited face was completely fresh to Zed's eyes. She was really sweet and cheerful. Avril managed to make Zed's chest thunder with her name. Even though they had a lot in common. But, why was Zed still unable to stir Avril's feelings?

"I wish I could drive you," Zed said honestly.

Avril looked thoughtful. Then, a small smile appeared on her lips. Her eyes watched Zed with the eyes of a child who sparkles when he asks for something. No problem, right? Zed asked for it.

"Can I ask for a ride?" Avril asked quietly.

It was her behavior that made Zed laugh with amusement. Avril was not like most Western women. While many of them were trying to get Zed's attention, Avril wasn't doing it. Avril's behavior was natural and never contrived. Unlike other women who liked her and were pretending. That's right! Avril was a uniquely sweet girl.

"Oh my! Wasn't it me who offered it first?" Zed asked amused.

Avril joined in the laughter. "Yes! You're right."

Avril followed Zed to the parking lot. Zed took out his motorcycle keys. He looked at Avril for a song but then took the initiative to put Avril's helmet on. Avril blushed. Zed could always treat Avril gently. Each of his treatments even made Avril feel truly loved. Zed could see that. At the same time, Avril looked at Zed with a reluctant look.

"Don't be like this Zed! I'm afraid I can't return your feelings," Avril said gloomily.

Zed stopped putting on his helmet. He looked at Avril who stood with her helmet on her head. Maybe Zed liked Avril so much that he just stared at Avril anxiously. Even Avril's words just now couldn't discourage Zed.

"I'm a man. When I fall in love, I'm ready to get my heart broken," Zed said.

Zed was even surprised he could say it. What kind of crazy thing is that? Who's ready to have their heart broken? That's not sane at all! It was just that seeing Avril worrying about something was not what Zed wanted. Underneath all of Avril's demeanor, Zed knew that the girl had a tender heart. The light on her face dimmed whenever the girl knew she couldn't reciprocate Zed's feelings.

"Trust me, men are tougher than women," Zed said reassuringly.

Although she still looked reluctant, Avril couldn't help but smile a little. Zed put on his helmet, climbed onto the bike, and put the key in it. As soon as he turned around, Avril nimbly climbed onto the back seat of Zed's motorcycle and signaled she was ready.

"You should have held on to me," Zed said.

Avril shook her head. "Don't be modest! Come on, it's getting late."

Zed laughed amusedly. "I just wish, A!"

After that, Zed started the bike and drove out of Western's parking lot. Zed looked up at the Los Angeles afternoon sky. Zed was probably still getting rejections from Avril. Somehow, Zed felt satisfied this afternoon. Wasn't this a good development for him and Avril?
