“Did you get your order?” Zed asked.
“Yup! I want three-tier ice cream! Are you sure you only want vanilla ice cream? I'm not going to go bankrupt just because you ordered three-tier ice cream!” joked Avril.
Zed chuckled. “I know. But, yes! I don't think so.”
Avril nodded. “Okay!”
They waited for the ice cream and Zed got his first. Mr. Bone glanced at Avril and smiled kindly. “Did you get your order?”
Avril nodded. “I want a three-tier ice cream. Chocolate on the first tier, vanilla, and finally mint. I want melted chocolate and colorful sprinkles on top. Oh, don't forget to add an actor on top! Mr. Bone's chocolate Astor.”
Zed laughed at Avril's order. “Excellent ice cream.”
“No problem. I can remember” Mr. Bone said.
Avril smiled with satisfaction while Mr. Bone turned his back on her. Avril caught up with Zed who was sitting at the table. Avril watched Zed and then joined him. There were two cute white folding chairs and a round table with a red and white umbrella.
“The beach is still amazing,” Avril said as she looked out to sea.
“Have you ever been to a prettier beach?” said Zed. “You seem to like the beach.”
Avril nodded. “The beach and the sea. They have an inexplicable energy.”
“And you like waves, A!” said Zed.
Avril put on a strong display. Despite her small stature, no one wanted to mess with Avril. Avril's spirit was like the crashing waves. However, just like the waves, Avril could also become foam. Avril also has her capacities. Sometimes, Zed wanted to pry into Avril's brain to find the girl's thoughts.
“Sounds good!”
“The ice cream is ready!” said Mr. Bone. “I added a cherry on top.”
Avril took her ice cream. “Perfect, Mr. Bone. You topped it off nicely.”
Avril paid for their ice cream took out a few dollar bills and gave them to Mr. Bone. Afterward, she thanked Mr. Bone, waved goodbye, and promised to come back as soon as possible. Mr. Bone laughed as he waved back at Avril.
“I'll be waiting for you,” Mr. Bone said.
Zed waved back and they walked to the shore. A family passed them by. Children were still running around on the beach while others were busy taking pictures of the scene in front of them.
Venice Beach is indeed a great place for Los Angeles residents to relax. Case in point. Avril seems to feel perfect because she is on the beach, with the sunset up there that can take the breath of anyone who sees it, and ice cream in her right hand. The reddish sky made Avril want to get closer to the shore. The sun was sinking into the horizon but Avril didn't bother going home. Avril even invited Zed to sit on the bank.
Zed complied. They sat side by side on the beach while enjoying their ice cream. Avril sighed. The setting sun seemed to give Avril strength that everything would be okay. Even destruction has its art.
“Even though the sunset makes us lose light. But, why do we still enjoy it, huh” said Avril.
“The colors are amazing,” said Zed.
“Yes! The orange color is stunning. Not to mention the reflection of the light on the sea. I can't find anything better than a sunset at the sea” said Avril.
Zed nodded. He watched Avril. “I really can't find anything better than a sunset at the sea.”
Avril didn't realize Zed was watching her at all. She was busy enjoying her ice cream while watching the sea. The light was dwindling and the colors of the sunset were contrasting. Even in its final moments, the sun still showed its contrasting strength and splendor.
Zed's mind drifted back to when he first fell in love with Avril. If you think about it, Avril is more similar to the sunset. At that time, Avril did show her weak side. But, she also managed to take Zed's breath away. That Avril looks beautiful like a sunset. Avril may look chaotic but still, amid her chaos she shows her strength. Like the orange rays of the sun amid darkness to welcome the night. Avril was the sunset and of course, she was also the one who made Zed long for the sun the next day.
“Mr. Bone is the best!” said Avril happily.
Avril took one of Mr. Bone's cherries and gobbled it up happily. Zed laughed amusedly. Now that they were sitting side by side, Zed was more free to watch Avril Marie Miller. After finishing her cherry, Avril carefully picked up her Astor and again devoured it happily. Avril's expression like that was absolutely priceless. Zed even forgot to enjoy his ice cream until he felt the ice cream melt right on the back of his hand.
“Why do you always show up at the right time, Zed?” Avril asked.
Zed shrugged his shoulders. “Maybe, we're connected? The alarms in my head seem to go off if anything happens to you.”
Avril laughed at Zed's joke. “Nice try Castellar. But, I need a panta today and of course, it comes with ice cream!”
Zed nodded. “Then, please enjoy your ice cream.”
Avril formed a respectful position with her right hand. “Yes, captain! By the way, I was surprised earlier. You also know a lot of things about Venice Beach”
“I told you. But, I'm happy to add to the list of things that amaze you” Zed said bluntly.
“Yes yes yes, you even have your fan club. Well, it's an exaggeration to say you have a group. But, I know the girls are busy talking about you.” Avril said. “Sometimes, they're busy questioning me.”
Zed didn't want to know anything about the group. What Zed wanted to know was whether Avril Marie Miller was interested in Zed as much as the others were. But, of course. Avril seemed normal. Even telling him something like this, she wasn't jealous at all. Avril even openly said she had no special feelings for Zed.
