Ch. 33Haters

Wednesday. Avril intended to go to the field after changing her clothes. Avril is wearing a pair of navy jeans and a white t-shirt she knotted on the right side. Avril tied her hair up high. Since it was just a practice, Avril didn't wear her big bow at all. Johanna had gone home earlier and Avril was pretty sure Matt had done the same. Since when did Matt feel at home at school? Several people noticed Avril passing by and as usual, Avril was never complete without people calling out to her. It didn't seem to matter at all that Avril didn't remember their names. They were just happy that Avril was being nice to them. Avril walked towards her locker while hugging the clothes she had worn earlier.

"Hey, A!" someone called out.

Avril turned around. "Hey, Syd! Ready for the field?"

Sydney was a member of Cheers. Sydney was already wearing black cotton shorts and a light yellow t-shirt. She had her hair in a messy bun and the girl nodded in response to Avril's question.

"Of course! Are you coming to Nate's party this weekend? Everyone's talking about it!" Sydney said excitedly.

Avril nodded. "Nate invited me. My friends are busy talking about it too. They've even threatened to break into my house if I don't come."

Sydney laughed sweetly. "I agree with them. We need a game queen to liven up the party."

Avril stopped at her locker and put her clothes in there. Sydney waited patiently while paying attention to her surroundings. Then, Sydney's attention was drawn to the seated A-Class. Since the incident last Monday, wherever A Class was, the atmosphere would become tense instantly. Sydney also felt that way. She could feel the pressure around her and the stares of the people judging A-Class.

"They got their comeuppance," Sydney said.

"What?" asked Avril confused and closed her locker.

Avril followed Sydney's line of sight. There, she found A Class. Avril had no problem with them at all. Valerie and her friends hadn't done anything strange since that day. Avril also didn't hate them at all. They often spent time together. Yes, Jack had invited them, of course.

"Yesterday wasn't the first time," Sydney whispered. "After what happened in the cafeteria yesterday, several victims of their selfishness confessed. A Class has ruined its reputation."

Avril furrowed her brow. "Not the first time?"

Sydney nodded. "Valerie likes to jump the queue. Not only that, she says A Class likes to force people to do their work. They also don't want to do group work. I'll bet they're a hated bunch now."

That's not good news for Avril. Avril didn't even respond to Sydney's words just now. However, Sydney didn't seem to notice at all. The girl even gave more information as if she couldn't wait to share the hottest gossip in the school. Avril was usually slow to pick up on school gossip.

"Poco and Flo even became very good accomplices. There is even a rumor that Valerie, Poco, and Flo once played a prank on one of the students. Do you know Hissa Gail?" Sydney said dramatically.

Avril nodded. "She was a transfer student yesterday, right? Johanna ended up replacing her in the chemistry olympiad because she transferred unexpectedly."

Sydney smiled with satisfaction. "Yes, that's her! The main reason Hissa transferred was because of Valerie and Flo. Some people did say that Hissa was their target. Hissa once fell down the corridor because of Valerie."

That was not another piece of good news. Hearing bad news was the last thing Avril wanted to fill her day with. Avril wanted to enjoy her day by having fun and bad news was not on her list. Valerie, Poco, and Flo were still as beautiful as ever. Today they wore different colored clothes but they still looked beautiful.

"We've wasted too much time here," broke up Avril. "The others are waiting for us. Let's go!"

Sydney gave Avril a confused look. She knew her friends weren't that keen but Sydney nodded. Avril quickly walked away. After what she did yesterday, Avril felt uncomfortable around A Class. Valerie's gaze seemed to pierce her and it certainly wasn't a good thing. Avril was even worried that Valerie's gaze could perforate her body. Avril and Valerie have never gotten along since the beginning because of Zed. The problem was magnified because of what she did yesterday.

"Have you thought about our latest move?" Sydney said.

Avril nodded. "I'll show you later. But, yes! I have some that involve you, Syd! I hope you don't mind."

Sydney shook her head quickly. "Of course not! I can't even wait to try it again."

Just as they were walking away, it wasn't long before they heard Valerie's voice filling the entire corridor. Suddenly Sydney and Avril turned around. Valerie was standing there and glaring at the girl in the blue t-shirt.

"You did it on purpose, didn't you?" Valerie said irritably.

"I didn't do it on purpose!" said the girl in an unconcerned tone.

"Hearing you talk makes me even more upset! Do you think I believe your excuses? You did it on purpose, right?" Valerie urged.

Flo nodded. "I saw it! You bumped your shoulder into Val on purpose."

Avril knew how Valerie felt. Of course, Val was upset about being treated like that. Matt didn't like being treated like that. It also made Matt want to be transparent. Avril wanted to help. But, Avril didn't want to meddle in people's business anymore.

The girl looked at Valerie sarcastically. "You have no proof. Besides, are we going to make a big deal out of a trivial matter like this?"

It wasn't a trivial matter. Avril knew that. Why couldn't everyone just have fun? School was the place to have fun according to Avril. Why did people bother to make such a big deal out of it? After saying that, the girl walked away after making an annoyed face at Valerie. Val couldn't seem to tolerate it at all. After the girl had gotten past Val, Val just turned around and pulled the girl's hair. Screams echoed in the corridor. Valerie and the girl grabbed each other's hair. Avril immediately ran over to break them up. As she got closer, Avril repeatedly told them to let go of their hands but no one listened at all.

"Oh, my God!" said Avril in frustration. "We're not kids anymore."

Val didn't care at all. Hearing Avril's voice only made her more annoyed. Valerie pulled the girl's hair even harder. The girl screamed in annoyance while everyone started to crowd around them.

"You're annoying, Val! Witches like you should just go away," the girl cursed.

Poco and Flo tried to pull Valerie away while Avril tried to pull the girl away. Valerie was annoyed by the girl's words. "You go away! I don't even know your name."

Annoyed, the girl grabbed Valerie even more. At that moment, Avril caught her breath. "Oh, my gosh! Mrs. Hans is here!"

The crowd dispersed instantly as well as Valerie and the girl. Mrs. Hans was the most killer teacher in their school. No one wanted to deal with Mrs. Hans. When they realized Mrs. Hans wasn't there, both of them gave Avril an annoyed look while Avril just put on her innocent face.

"You want Mrs. Hans to come?" said Avril.

The girl snorted and left. Valerie smoothed her hair and then gave Avril an annoyed look. Avril was the last person she wanted to see.

"Don't show up in front of me, A! I hate you," Valerie said irritably.

After saying that, Valerie left there by deliberately bumping herself into Avril's shoulder. Avril touched her shoulder while glancing at Valerie, Poco, and Flo's departure. Sydney humped Valerie in annoyance and shouted.

"You're the annoying one! Avril was only helping you! You're crazy!" Sydney shouted.

Avril pulled Sydney's hand away. "Don't mind it! Let's go to the field!

" She's crazy!" said Sydney unhappily.

"I know and we don't! Well, let's go to the field," Avril said again.

Sydney was forced to comply. She was still staring at A Class's back in annoyance. But, the girl followed Avril and walked towards the field together.
