Ch. 26Savage Avril 2

Valerie was getting heated. The problem was, that Avril had captured all the attention. Not only that, Avril was interfering with Val's plans to annoy Kim. Even more annoying, they even assumed Valerie wasn't there right now.

"Oh, sorry to interrupt!" Kim continued. "Weren't you just about to give an assessment? I want to hear more theories about theater."

Avril nodded. "Okay! The expression is good too. I like the look of satisfaction when you managed to corner Kim earlier. You're perfect for the antagonist. Oh, wait a minute! Haven't you already played the antagonist?"

Valerie, who was getting annoyed, finally glanced at Avril. "Yes! I know all the theories too! You don't need to explain it again Avril Miller"

Avril looked at Val with an innocent face. "oh, yeah? Oh! Of course! You left as soon as I entered the theater, right, Val?"

Valerie's face turned red. Valerie was embarrassed now. Everyone in the room knew that Avril was never like that at all. Avril just liked to do what she liked. But, no one had complained about Avril's behavior at all. This was the first time Avril had done something like this and no one blamed Avril at all.

"Yes, you're right! Anything else you want to add, A?" said Valerie.

Avril glanced at Valerie seriously. "I don't care what kind of fuss you make. Just don't bother people like this. You're creating an uncomfortable atmosphere in the cafeteria."

Valerie glanced at Avril. "You're lecturing me?"

Avril shrugged her shoulders dismissively. "I didn't mean to interfere with you in the first place. But, it looks like you're not going to stop at all. If you really like performing, join the theater. You can do it on stage, not in the cafeteria!"

Evan and Jack whistled. Valerie glanced at the popular table in annoyance. No one was defending her. In fact, even Poco and Flo didn't stand a chance. Even more annoying, Zed seemed to be supporting Avril. That made Valerie feel even more broken. Valerie only felt upset when she saw Kim. Now, she was even more upset because Avril interfered and lectured her in front of many people. Actually, Avril didn't intend to do it at all. It's just that Valerie went too far.

"Now you're showing who you are, A!" Valerie said angrily.

Avril shrugged her shoulders. "I have no intention of antagonizing you. It's just that you should know something, Val! I can be an angel and a demon at the same time."

Valerie watched Avril with annoyance. Feeling like she couldn't win at all, Valerie left and was followed by Poco and Flo. Avril just watched them but quickly called out to them before they moved away.

"What else?" said Valerie irritably.

"The tray, dear! You didn't expect us to carry the leftovers and tray for you, did you?" quipped Avril.

Valerie walked with her feet stomping. She was really embarrassed now. The trio picked up their respective trays and quickly walked away. After their departure, Avril sighed.

"I don't like doing this! But, I guess I have to" Avril said to no one in particular. Kim smiled. "Thank you."

Avril just nodded. "It doesn't matter! I just don't like her doing that to other people. She doesn't know what it's like to be treated like that and it's not the right reason to do something like this. I'll go back first."

Kim frowned. Apparently, Avril had never experienced anything like this at all. But, why did Avril care? Kim finally decided to ignore Avril's words. Avril stood up and politely returned the chair to its place.

"Thank you," said Avril.

"No problem, A! That was great!" said the man.

Avril shook her hand. "It's not something to be proud of!"

Afterward, Avril returned to her seat at the popular table. Evan and Jack greeted her by cheering Avril's name. The girl just smiled awkwardly and sat down again. Avril was back to being sweet Avril. The serious and threatening face she had shown earlier had disappeared.

"You didn't see Valerie's face earlier? I bet her face is the same color as a lobster," Jack said.

"Oh, come on, let's not talk about that" Avril disagreed. "Let's talk about something else."

Matt secretly watched Avril. Ever since he knew Avril, the girl had a big heart. Avril even helped them when they were all spectators. Avril was a person who had a big character even though she had a small body. Unfortunately, Matt didn't have a chance to chat with Avril at all today. That's right!

Avril delivered. Avril respects Matt's world in the way she does even though she doesn't reprimand Matt.

One thing Matt wondered. Did Avril do that for him? Matt doesn't know the answer to that. One thing Matt did know was that Avril protected the little world she had.

How much about Avril did Matt not know? The popular table was noisy again. But they weren't the only ones. The cafeteria was running as usual. Matt heard others chatting and laughing too. Evan and Jack didn't intend to miss the opportunity at all.

He was still discussing how Avril had silenced Val. While Avril eventually pulled Johanna to get some food.

Avril apparently hadn't eaten yet. Matt noticed that.

"She's cool!" Kim said happily.

Matt nodded. "Yeah! She's cool!"

After returning the chairs, Avril quickly returned to the popular table. Avril had finished what she was doing. Avril glanced at Matt who was starting to enjoy his food again. Seeing Matt starting to eat again, Avril felt quite relieved. Actually, their problems in the hallway alone were disturbing enough for Avril. Now, Valerie was making Matt think even more negatively of people like Avril. Not only that, Avril didn't like Valerie bullying others like that.

Matt's words kept ringing in Avril's head. They want to be transparent, and Matt wants to protect his little world. They just wanted something simple to make their high school years perfect. Valerie's behavior just now created bad memories and of course, Avril didn't like being a spectator at all. Valerie's behavior did infuriate her.
