Valerie didn't finish her sentence because Avril tapped her desk with her fingers. The silence caused by Valerie made Avril's tapping audible. Increasingly, Avril's tapping became tighter and more impatient. Valerie glanced at Avril in annoyance but the girl was happy to have Valerie's attention. Avril then stood up and walked out of the popular table. There was no stopping Avril! Not even Johanna. Her friends left Avril alone. They knew Avril couldn't be stopped and it seemed she wasn't the only girl upset with Valerie.
Avril walked towards them but turned to the table in front of them. Valerie snorted then made up her mind to continue. "You know..."
"Excuse me! Is this seat vacant?" asked Avril politely. Avril again interrupted Valerie.
The man nodded and Avril smiled. "I'll borrow it!"
The man and his friends nodded. Now, Avril was the center of attention. Matt noticed Avril and their eyes met. Avril didn't give Matt any signals. Her expression remained unreadable. However, Avril took the chair and filled the space at Matt's table. The table now consisted of 6 people. Unfortunately, the chair in front of Valerie was filled by Poco. However, Avril now faced Flo and sat between Matt and Kim.
"Please tell me the show's not over yet," Avril said. "I just joined."
Val gave Avril an annoyed look. "Stay out of it, Miller, it's my business with them. You're not invited here."
Avril made an annoying shocked face. She even covered her mouth. Matt could see that Val's hands were clenched now. In fact, Avril had just made a move but the girl managed to provoke Val.
"Affairs? I thought you said you didn't have any problems with this girl. Aren't you just curious? Oh, wait a minute! Did I miss something? Damn it! I hate missing things when I'm watching a movie," Avril said pretending to be annoyed.
Evan and Jack laughed at Avril's remark while the girl was still watching Valerie with a flat face. Valerie hissed. She was just about to reply to Avril when the girl spoke again to interrupt her.
"Anyway, I heard earlier. This isn't an event. I don't need to be invited, do I?" Avril snarked.
Valerie's face turned red. Kim raised one eyebrow and watched Avril. Kim didn't expect Avril to intervene like this. However, what Avril did now succeeded in silencing Valerie. Kim liked that fact. Her way of silencing Valerie was fun.
"What do you want, A? I have no problem with you," Valerie said.
Avril smiled. "Am I wrong? I just want to watch from up close. You know, at shows they call them VIP seats."
"Didn't we agree that this isn't a show?" said Valerie.
Avril nodded. "I agree, it's not a show. It's just that you're giving us a free show."
Avril nodded. "I agree, it's not an event. It's just that you're providing a free spectacle."The pressure intensified and Matt could only stay silent. Matt was quite amazed by Avril's courage. Even though she was the center of attention this time, Avril didn't tremble in the slightest. Avril even looked straight at Valerie. For some reason, Matt wasn't even sure Avril saw him because the girl was too focused on Valerie.
"Free viewing?" said Valerie irritably. "You're overestimating Miller."
"Exaggerating?" said Avril unhappily. "In theater, we have to be able to speak loudly. Do you know what that means, Val?"
Silence. Everyone was watching Avril and Valerie's argument. The few people who were annoyed silently supported Avril all the way. The cafeteria was never quiet. Everyone agreed on that. The popular table was probably the noisiest. But, no one made a big deal about it because they didn't bother anyone. They also let others have their fun. They don't mind anyone matching their noise. Unfortunately, no one can match their noise.
The commotion in the cafeteria today was completely different. Valerie was fishing for attention to embarrass someone. Of course, many of them sympathized with Matt as well as Kim. After all, Valerie was bullying others. Who could justify Valerie's actions just now? So when Avril made her move, they didn't just watch. They were rooting for Avril to silence Valerie and return the cafeteria to a fun atmosphere.
Valerie didn't answer. Now, Avril looked at Flo. "Do you know what the goal is, Flo?"
Avril copied Valerie's actions. Now, she even deliberately asked Val's closest friend to make the girl even more upset. Flo shook her head and Avril was satisfied to get a response.
"Very good! I'll tell her then! We did it to get the audience's attention" Avril said in a dramatic tone.
Valerie gave Avril an annoyed look. She then moved on and awarded Flo with a glare. Kim laughed at Valerie's inaction. Kim was even enjoying her food leisurely now while watching them.
"I'm going to judge," Avril said. "You got off to a good start there, Val! The way you put the tray down was a surprise that caught the audience's attention. In fact, yes! You did it. One plus for that one."
Kim laughed. "Why do I like to hear this theory about theater? I'm curious."
Kim glances at Valerie and sure enough! That girl looks upset now! Remind Kim to thank Avril next time. This girl is something. Who would have thought that a girl like her could silence Valerie? In fact, Avril was the friendliest person in the school.
"Are you curious? How about joining us?" Avril offered.
Kim shook her head. "Too bad, I'm not like someone who wants to get attention. Thank you for offering."
Kim was relieved to have gotten back at Valerie. Valerie had brought Poco and Flo to corner her. Now that Avril was supporting her, Kim wanted to see the show even more. Valerie couldn't even find the words to counter Avril.
"Just come if you change your mind," Avril said.
Kim nodded. "I'll keep that in mind. By the way, I'm Kimberly. You can call me Kim."
Avril smiled. "Avril. You can call me Avril or A."
Kim laughed amusedly. "oh, my gosh! I didn't know you needed to introduce yourself. Of course, I know you, Avril. Who doesn't know Avril Miller?"
