Ch. 33

I think it's already morning. It was felt from the bone-chilling breeze.

A luxury car was passing by, the only car that passed through the area. I knew that this area was rarely traveled by such a luxurious car.

"Ah... what a rich man," I thought.

As morning approached, my stomach couldn't compromise. Demanding to be filled as usual. I didn't have a penny of money with me.

With a shuffle, I dared to approach a woman selling various foods.

"Excuse me ma'am, can I have some of the food? I can help, if you want in return," I pleaded hopefully.

"You're so young to be begging!" grinned the woman I approached.

"I want to work, ma'am. If you let me," I explained, trying to win her sympathy.

L"Do you want to work at my place? My customers will run away," she cried again without feeling.

"Here, take it, but don't come here again!" The saleswoman thrust the wrapped food towards me.

I didn't care about her ramblings, I only cared about the stomach that was moaning. I quickly left with the food she gave me.

After filling my stomach, I quickly stood back up. Walking to who knows where. I can't stay here for too long. Worried about running into those who had dared to drive me out of my own home.

"I'll get back at you!" I whispered as I remembered all of their behavior.

My hands unconsciously clenched into tight fists. Forming a fist that I didn't know who to hit. I knew I wasn't strong enough to crush someone. Especially when I have to deal with the village head's family.

***

A month or two passed, and the longing for Azzam tormented me even more. I now lived in a densely populated slum. I can't find a decent job. Because I don't have anything to provision for looking for work.

But luckily, my communication skills are good enough to use. However, without a diploma, everything is still useless.

To survive, I had to scavenge and sort through trash. I made enough money to last me through the day. I lived with a mat and cardboard walls under the bridge. There was no other choice, this was the path etched in my hand. I have to accept it gracefully. Sure, there will be a day when I will rise from adversity.

I'm sure God is all-powerful and He won't always test me with such severe trials.

Onnur's POV

"Onnur, run!" shouted Jhon.

There was no further ado. With all his might, Jhon provided protection for me.

I, who had a wound on my temple from the impact when our car was shot at. Staring worriedly at him, one of my best men. He was injured, but still trying to protect me.

Jhon tried to hold off the hunters for my sake.

The sound of gunfire echoed, breaking the silence of this strange place. One bullet managed to pierce his right chest.

"Ah!" he cursed. I could still hear it well. However, there was no time to see his condition. As long as I could still hear his footsteps, I was sure he would survive.

'Hang in there, Jhon! At least until help arrives!' I muttered.

Trained in pain, Jhon felt numb even though his chest was pierced by hot lead. Luckily, the bullet did not hit his vital organs. So I'm sure he can still survive.

Our military training is unparalleled. It's crazier than any country's military training. Of course, the exorbitant pay makes anyone willing to participate.

Some people continued to rush after us.

Our strategy is the most solid. Two heads that became one, as if they knew what each other would do.

I ran deeper and deeper, trying to outwit the enemy while saving bullets. Many of my men had already fallen due to the enemy's impromptu attacks. Even though I had expected it from the start, my friends and I still felt pressured.

If I chose the right path, then Jhon chose the left. We both split up and made sure the opponent would be confused.

I, who was not badly injured, was certainly very capable of saving myself. Meanwhile, Jhon although it did not hit his vital organs. Still, he lost a lot of blood and made his condition less favorable.

The whizzing of bullets echoed, I didn't know how the one person I trusted the most was doing. Hopefully, Jhon would still be able to survive.
I had already sent an emergency signal to the reserve forces. My predictions rarely go wrong, and this time was no exception. I knew that Jhon was in danger. And hoped that the rescuers would arrive in time.

"Hahaha... where are you running to?" Their voices were clearly audible. They thought I was far enough away from Jhon.

However, there was no way I could get out of hiding. There were too many of them for me to be patient enough to save Jhon.

"Don't waste your bullets, just put him in a trash bag. And we'll throw it into the garbage can. Let him die slowly," said one of them.

That made me furious. How dare they treat my best man that cruelly. I'll get back at all of them.

Seeing Jhon who was already helpless with his breath coming in and out. The more I couldn't resist the urge to fight back. However, what is my power. If I come out now then it's the same as delivering my own life. Wouldn't that just make it all pointless.

"Alright, let's take care of him!" replied the brazen fellow.

They quickly stuffed Jhon's tall, burly body into a jumbo-sized garbage bag.

"The rest of you go after that damn Onnur bastard, keep looking until you get him!" he ordered the others.

"Make sure he dies a horrible death to increase our pay," he continued.

"Ready!" the voices of several people agreed to their superiors' orders.

So, they're hired guns too. Fucking fuck ashole!
