Ch. 26Something Fatal

Veronica swallowed hard, cold sweat trickling down her temple. Her finger trembled as she pulled the trigger. Click The sound of the trigger being pulled broke the silence, but no explosion followed. No bullet came out. Just an eerie silence. Rose slowly raised her face, her blue eyes glinting sharply. A thin smile played on her lips. "Looking for this?" she asked softly, opening her other palm. There, lying still, was the bullet that should have pierced her head. Veronica stuttered and tried to speak, but no sound came out. Her brain was unable to process what had just happened. How could this girl take a bullet from a gun without anyone noticing? "This girl..." She stammered, her eyes wide as she stared at Rose. Cold sweat ran down her temples. "How is that possible? She looks normal, but..." Here is the translation into American English: His friends glanced at each other, confusion clearly written on their faces. "Veronica, what's wrong with you?" one of them asked, their tone a mix of irritation and worry. With a trembling voice, Veronica finally managed to explain, "She... she disarmed him in seconds!" Behind the classroom door, Erio and Romeo were still watching tensely. Erio whispered, "What's really going on?" But Romeo remained silent, his eyes focused on Rose's clenched fist. Rose, still with a staggering calm, slowly opened her hand. "Sorry," she said gently, revealing some shiny bullets in her palm. "I confiscated the lead. It's dangerous, you see." Veronica staggered backward, her face pale as a ghost. She was still clutching an empty gun, and her breathing labored as if she had just run a marathon. Instantly, the atmosphere changed. The other seven girls also stepped back, no longer daring to look at Rose. Even Belleza's loyal followers were now silent, their courage vanishing like smoke. They had just realized that they had provoked the wrong person. The one they had dismissed as a pushover was actually far more dangerous than they had imagined. Belleza, though clearly shaken, tried to maintain her arrogance. She stepped forward, bending down slightly to look at Rose. Her eyes narrowed with anger. She stood right in front of Rose, using her height advantage to look down and glare at the smaller girl. "Listen up, you nerd," Belleza hissed, her voice low and threatening. "You may have a few tricks, but you're still nothing here. You have no place in Smafios, let alone in the Diamond Class." Rose slowly lifted her face, her amber eyes meeting Belleza's gaze head-on. For a moment, time seemed to stand still. Then, with a calm voice that flowed like a deep river, Rose spoke. "Belleza," she said softly, yet there was a hidden power behind her words. "Do you know the difference between a diamond and a regular stone?" Belleza blinked, slightly surprised by this unexpected question. "Of course. Diamonds are valuable, rare, and they shine." Rose gave a slight smile. "True. But you're forgetting one important thing." She paused for a moment, allowing the tension in the air to thicken. "Diamonds are formed under immense pressure. The greater the pressure, the more beautiful the diamond becomes." Belleza took a half-step back, confusion evident on her face. Rose continued, her voice growing more confident. "You may think that by pressuring me, you can destroy me. But what's actually happening is..." She spread her arms, as if embracing the entire room. "You're only making me shine brighter." The corridor was silent. Even the breathing seemed to be held back. "So, Belleza," Rose concluded, her eyes gleaming with conviction, "thank you. Because every pressure you apply and every harsh word you utter only makes me stronger and more valuable. You're not destroying me. You're perfecting me." Belleza remained silent, her mouth slightly open but no words coming out. For the first time, she appeared to be at a loss for words. The arrogance that usually radiated from her was now gone, replaced by confusion and perhaps a hint of admiration. The other girls behind Belleza glanced at each other, unsure how to react. They had just witnessed something that had never happened before: Belleza, the Diamond-1 class prima donna, silenced by the words of the girl they had dismissed. Rose stood tall, and her aura changed. She was no longer the weak girl they thought they could intimidate. Before them now stood someone who had found her own strength, shining like a diamond under pressure. The eight elite Diamond-1 women were transfixed, their mouths firmly shut. Their eyes were wide open, and a mix of anger and shock was clearly visible. Meanwhile, cold sweat trickled down their foreheads. Their trembling hands gripped their weapons, now feeling utterly useless. Rose stood upright, her posture calm yet threatening. Her eyes gleamed sharply, as if challenging anyone who dared to move. "Tch!" Belleza clicked her tongue, her teeth grinding in anger. She spun around quickly, her long hair billowing dramatically. "Retreat!" she ordered in a cold tone. Her personal bodyguards exchanged glances for a moment, then hurried to follow their leader's swift pace as she fled the battlefield like the wind. Rose smirked in satisfaction, a small laugh escaping her lips. "Hmph, what cowards! Brave enough to gang up, but can't handle a fair fight?" She tossed her hair back with a graceful yet defiant gesture. Her eyes narrowed, a mischievous spark shining in them. In her heart, Rose compared this situation to her past in the village. Back then, she didn't hesitate to beat up someone who accidentally blocked the screen while watching anime together. Now, she had to restrain herself from facing threats and unjustified scolding. Rose smiled faintly, imagining how easily she could burn this place to the ground if she wanted to. "Well, at least I'm still holding back," she murmured softly, her fingers playing with the ends of her hair. "Wait a minute..." Rose's victorious smile suddenly vanished, replaced by a slowly creeping expression of horror on her face. Her eyes widened, as if she had just realized something fatal.
