Chapter 2
"Hmm, if our cat's daddy hears you, he might even like you. But...he's not available anymore, eh. I don't like scolding children," she said.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked her. Why does he say so much that I don't g-get? Does he have an alien language?
"Nothing. Just for you, I will not skip our first day of class," he said with a smile. Hey, that's good. Thank you.
"Thank you."
We had a little chit-chat before our future adviser arrived and Jaelly was right in what he said and after that we were sent to the gymnasium for the meeting as well.
I just listened the whole time especially the president of the university was speaking but when I noticed my companion he was already sleeping. I just shook my head. He can sleep even sitting up without a headrest.
What did he do last night and he's still sleepy now? Didn't he sleep? did he stay up? But there was nothing on his face that made him stay up, eh. He just looks sleepy.
The meeting was over and he hadn't woken up yet. Even though there was loud applause, he was really just sleeping. Until I gently shook his shoulder. It took him a long time to realize that.
"Wake up, Jaelly sleepy head. We're going out to the gym," I begged him and stood up first. I slung my slingbag over my shoulder.
I extended my hand to him to help him stand. He just smiled at me and accepted it. He didn't even let go of my hand.
"It's terrible, I feel like the meeting took a super long time before they let us out of the gymnasium," she said and I was even surprised by what she said.
"You're asleep the entire time of the meeting earlier. It's so cool, eh," I said shaking my head.
"I'm just like that," he answered with a shrug, then we mingled with the students who were already leaving the gym. They don't push even if they are excited to go out. They are just noisy.
"What did you do last night to sleep so well earlier? You're also sleeping a while ago before I entered our classroom," I said and he frowned. It seems I said something that he didn't understand.
Later on, she bursts out laughing. Did someone laugh at what I said? "Blaise, do you know that girls don't like to talk like that?" he asked me laughing.
"Huh?" I asked confused. In what way should I speak?
"I hate it when they talk stupidly, but to you? I guess you're exempt for me because you're so cute talking to pussy," she said and I could see that she was amused. I frowned at him.
"Conyo? You mean speaking with a mixture of Tagalog and English? That's it?" I asked her and she nodded. "Oh, okay. I get t," I promised, nodding.
"I want to go home. We don't have a meeting after earlier, right?" he asked me. I scratched my eyebrows. He is right. Why does he know, since he was asleep earlier?
"Yeah. The president said earlier that we can now roam—but only here at our university," I said and suddenly he grabbed my arm and pulled me somewhere. "Jaelly? Where did you take me? Why are you landing so fast? I'm wearing heels," I commented. Eh, he's white rubber shoes. Huh? Can she wear these shoes?
"We're friends now, right? Come on, we are at our house. I'm hungry, huh? I don't want to eat here because I'm choosy with food," she uttered.
"But, Jaelly. I don't want to go out of school," I said.
"Don't worry, we will come back after we eat lunch," he said. He was insistent so I just gave in and besides it was my first time.
My friend is going to invite me to their house and I don't want to disappoint him. He was the one I met who didn't seem to ask me about my family history. My family is still known as one of the richest people in the country. Maybe that's one of the reasons why they befriended me. I want you to be genuine.
"Is your house far away? For us, it's still a half-hour drive from here," I said. But my brother drives fast so we arrived quickly.
We have reached the big gate and maybe they will let us out, right? But that didn't happen because the security guard blocked us.
"JE Rousville's sister," he just said and showed us something so we were able to go out without them stopping us.
"What did you show, Jaelly? Why is Rousville University so strict? Why don't they want to let us out? Well, we can be college students. We're adults too," I said. I am very curious. I guess I just found out about it now, eh. I thought it would be a lot if you went out.
"Because we are only freshmen. It is in their rules to restrict first year colleges," he said.
"RU has a booklet, I haven't read it yet. Maybe tonight I will study the rules and regulations and whose name is that you said earlier? JE Rousville? Oh...yes, by the way, it's your brother?" I asked one question after another and he laughed again.
"Just shut up, Blaise," he said and I just snorted. He is the only one who can silence me like that.
We went straight to the parking space. I thought he had a personal driver but suddenly a car honked somewhere. My eyes widened when I saw his beloved car. It's a limited edition and it's still available in Washington! I know this, huh!
“Wow!” I exclaimed and it was as if someone just had a heart-heart in my eyes.
"You wanna ride my car, Blaise?" she asked me and I nodded. Because I was excited to drive it but I just remembered my overprotective older brothers. I don't want to disappoint them by reminding me tirelessly, eh.
"On second thought, don't do it. Maybe when my older brothers find out, they will scold me. So don't do it. But thanks to that, Jaelly," I said while shaking her head. He just nodded and smiled.
"Just get on board so we can leave before my parents find out. I will take you to our house and introduce you to our cat," he said. Cat again? Is that his cat talking?
"But I don't like cats, Jaelly," I just said. To be honest, I don't really like cats, eh. Not even a dog.
"What about tigers? You like?" My eyes widened at his question. W-What? Is that a tiger? They have something like that?! By the way, what kind of house do they have? A zoo house?!
"Do you have a tiger to take care of?!" I asked him in shock and he laughed out loud again.
"You're so innocent, Blaise! Why if we have a tiger? Do you want to see?” he asked with raised eyebrows. Huh?
A tiger I want to see? Do I look excited when she uttered that name? I know that animal is harmful. Who would want to see a tiger if it bites, right? I still want to live a long time because I still have many dreams in my life. So my answer is no.
"No, thanks," I refused, shaking my head and was about to leave the door of his car when he pulled me again. This time he opened the door and then he pushed me just to enter. "Jaelly, be careful, oh!" I complained because he was really too violent.
He just giggled and I don't like the idea of seeing their tiger again. I don't want to go to their house anymore.
"I'm just kidding, Blaise. You're too scared, aren't you," he commented without losing his sense of humor.
"My life is so precious to me, Jaelly. I still want to live super long," I reasoned out but she shook her head. Even if it was just a joke, I still wanted to remind him.
"Life is very-very short, Blaise. You should be enjoying your life now because we don't know when we will be here in the world. You know that already there are many surprises in our lives. Death is one of them," he said seriously, closing my mouth.
He had a point in what he said. I can't help but think but—
"As long as you are happy. Just enjoying your life is enough for us," I said.
"Yeah? But...I still want to explore in my life, eh. It still seems really boring. I still want to reach something but I don't know what it is or how to reach that something. I don't have any idea," she said flatly and shrugged her shoulder.
Their house is not far from here, eh. We arrived in just a few minutes. Then it turns out that they are staying in a wide subdivision. It's the same with us. Also like this a lot.
"Are your parents at your house, Jaelly? Aren't you afraid that your parents will find out that you dropped out of university? Especially our first day of class?" I asked her and she nodded again.
"Mommy and Dad are on vacation. I only have the cat I'm talking about and his tiger father with me in our house," he said. There's his alien language again.
“Does a tiger have cubs? Her baby is also a cat? You told me earlier that you were just joking, Jaelly. Why did you say a tiger again? What exactly? It's okay if it's just a cat," I said. I was suddenly nervous. He's really bad at joking and then getting serious about life.
"I really like you, Blaise," he said comfortingly and he was almost in tears from the force of his laughter.
She got off first and I just removed the seatbelt from my body then I opened the door then got off from her car.
"But, Jaelly. I hate my brothers when your tiger hurts me, ha. Then they will find out that I left the university and they only found me in the hospital. I don't want to be confined," I said. I don't want to be hospitalized because I don't like the atmosphere there.
"Oh, my dear, Blaise. Your pocket is cute," she uttered again with her giggles.
"I'm not joking, Jaelly. I'm really serious and why are you picking on me? I don't fit in that," I said and looked at the uniform he was wearing.
"Then from now on you will get used to me. This is me, Blaise. I have a sense of humor," he said. He hugged my left arm and then pulled me again so that I was carried along with him.
I sighed before violently swallowing. Someone opened their front door for us. It's big and not just a house. Because this is a mansion, eh. I'm not sure how many floors it is. As long as she is big and beautiful.
"Good morning, Young Miss," greeted one of their servants and bowed. I smiled at him when our eyes met but he was serious and just bowed. I frowned. He's a snob, isn't he?
"Your servant is cold and too serious, Jaelly," I commented.
"Servant? Ah, you mean our maid," he said and I nodded. "Come inside. Welcome to our house.” I chuckled.
"Really, Jaelly? Oh, sounds good," I said and looked back at the servant. "Excuse me." He turned to me and bowed. "Is it true that you have a pet tiger here?" I asked her. He still frowned. Did he not understand what I said?
"Sorry about that, Blaise. Promise we don't have pets like that. Poor our pet cat, eh."
"It's Jaelly, eh. You really like to joke. You're so annoying," I said as he left again.
"Let's eat later, Blaise. Let's stay here for a long time."
"But Jaelly!"
"No buts!" he was interested in me then he made me sit on their couch. Their living room is also super big. Even their TV set and the decoration inside is beautiful. You won't get bored hanging out here because the ambiance is also good.
"Jaelly. Maybe later on, there will be a tiger—”
"Isn't it, Manang? We don't have a pet tiger?” he asked.
"No, Young Miss," she politely answered. I felt relief.
"See? You heard that. Loosen up, Blaise. Stay here first, I'll just get a snack," he said goodbye and I just nodded.
"Dada... Dada..." the girl called softly.
"H-Hon... G-Get out, please... M-My fever is Dada... C-Call your Aunt Ly," he said softly, his voice hoarse but still snuggled up to her side the child. He hugged her left arm and leg. He even kissed her cheek. "Hon..."
"Dada, wake up... Mommy is here..." she whispered and glanced at me.
Eh? I'm not his Mommy. He just brought me here.
Wait... Dada? Is this man her father? Aunt Ly? So, are they father and son? But who is this man then? Jaelly's older brother?
