Chapter 5
I didn't want to pay attention to it, but I really heard a noise, eh. So to see what it was we went to the garden.
I was so surprised to see that. I heard Poinier's breathing.
The garden is beautiful... They set up a tent with Poinier's name on it. They are beautifully decorated and the balloons are spread out in only two colors, blue and pink.
"Oh, my God," I stammered. There is also a long table where their cooked food is placed and there is a cake with three layers. Little doll on top of the cake with a single cute candle.
"Happy birthday, Poinier!" My heart was filled with joy and I could feel the wetness of my tears. I am happy for my son.
I don't know who helped them to prepare this kind of... birthday celebration. They made a lot of effort.
Arbeth and Lorda were there. They were the only two people we could see. Except...a human size teddy bear similar to what Poinier is now holding.
Poinier screamed with joy when he saw its gentle movement.
"Seddy beal!" Poinier said happily and pointed to the moving teddy bear.
He was holding a cake that was just the right size. We were the ones who approached him voluntarily and my son got more excited.
We stopped in front of the teddy bear. I don't know who the person the two hired for this.
I sang along with them, "Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday, Poinier!"
"Make a wish, Poinier, before you blow your candle!" Arbeth yelled at my son.
I moved closer to the one holding the cake. I don't know why my heart suddenly beat faster.
My son closed his eyes and put his little palms together. Lorda kept taking pictures of us, who was more than happy to see what Poinier had done.
We thought we both wouldn't hear his wish. Even though it was very weak, we clearly heard his wish.
"Wist... I'm going to have a good day with my Dy and Mama, foyebey!" I was saddened by what he said but I still smiled.
Then he blew out his candle and laughed even more when he saw his picture with only his head attached.
The big teddy bear gave the cake to Arbeth and I was shocked when he embraced us.
I fell in love with her soft chest and so did Poinier. We both laughed and hugged in the end.
"Picture it!" That's what the three of us did.
My son was smiling while staring at the moving teddy bear. I was infected by his smile but when I turned to see what he was looking at, my heart felt like it would come out. My heart started to beat faster because both of his hands were on his head.
Time seemed to stop for a moment as he slowly removed it.
"Daddy!" Poinier called his Daddy directly.
Poirier's smile was wide. His hair was messy and wet with sweat, but even though he looked like that, he still wasn't any less handsome.
"Happy birthday, baby," her Daddy greeted her and took her from me.
Poirier's kiss crushed our son. They are beautiful to look at.
"Sir Poirier came earlier after you left. We thought it would be difficult for us to convince you, Ma'am, to go to a certain place while we were making and preparing them," Lorda whispered to me and gestured to the decorations.
"But all in all, Sir Poirier was the only one who almost did all of this. Poinier's Daddy made a lot of effort. Sir, Ma'am is very happy," Arbeth added to me.
I just smiled and the two distanced themselves from me when they saw my father and daughter approaching.
He smiled at me. He really loves our son so much and I just hope he doesn't let his son down... He doesn't hurt him.
Even though Poinier was still in his arms, he managed to reach my waist and kiss my forehead. My heart and mind only got more confused.
I don't know why Poirier still does this to me. After all, they should only be done to his son.
"I know I failed you before, today, Reolla. But I am very grateful because you gave me Poinier. I love him very much," he said sincerely. I nodded.
At least Poinier has a place in his heart. Even if I don't fit there anymore, it's fine. I am even more grateful that Poinier has a place in his world, in his life.
We started eating and Poirier took care of his son who didn't want to be separated from his Daddy anymore.
Arbeth and Lorda later held a gift. My son was very happy because of the gift he received, even though there were only a few of us. Lorda prepared a pink baby bag as a gift and Arbeth's was full of cooking utensils, toy plates and other kitchen items. That's right or maybe the two thought that was what they were going to buy.
The last to give a gift was Poinier's Daddy.
"Wow!" We both laughed because of Poinier's happy exclamation.
A bicycle that a child can even climb on. He's just like a tricycle.
"Daddy will teach you, my baby..." he said softly to our son.
"He's too small and he can't do that yet," I commented but he just smiled at me.
"That's fine if it's possible. Right now my son is the first passenger," he said and made Poirier sit there.
My son's first birthday turned out to be a good memory. I also thought that Poirier would not be able to come because it was also his son Zoer's birthday. But I didn't expect that he was the one who prepared and it seems that everything was planned early.
Because the child was tired, he fell asleep in his Daddy's arms. He made her lie down on our bed and caressed her cheek. He even hugged our son and he sat on the edge of the bed.
"You can go now, Poirier. Thank you for today," I told him and he looked at me.
"It's your son's birthday, right? Your son needs you now," I said. His lips parted for a moment and I saw his shock there.
"How...how did you know that I have a...child other than... Poinier?" he asked and his chest heaved due to his heavy breathing.
"I just know," I answered and smiled. He avoided looking at me and his eyes were fixed on our bedside table.
He took our picture frame and caressed it.
He will wonder why I know about his son?
"There's nothing I don't know when it comes to you, Poirier..." I said and I heard her sigh, "I'm fine with this... our routine. The only thing that matters to me is that you love my son."
"That's my son too, Reolla... That's why I love him so much... I don't regret that he came into my life... My only regret is. I always fail Poinier. So if the day comes that.. I fail him again... He will forgive me.. Please forgive me and Poinier... I'm trying to be... a good father and love my children equally... but there's only one thing that bothers me, Reolla," he said long and it was as if he was struggling in his voice.
"The day will come...that I will have to choose... That you must be right, that I will never regret it in the end... Your right decision..." he said meaningfully to me and he slowly looked at me. There was sadness in his smile.
Before he left that night, he still hugged me tightly. I don't even know where I got the wet shoulder. It was impossible for Poirier to cry.
The next day my son woke up with a smile on his lips.
"Good morning, my son," I greeted him with a smile. He just hugged me and yawned.
I looked at the bedside table and the photo I placed on our bedside was gone. Where did that go?
"Tana... it's my birthday," I heard him whisper. My heart ached but when his second birthday came, his Daddy had no surprise prepared for him.
He doesn't receive any gifts from it anymore. The three of us can feel Poinier's sadness so we often prepare for him.
His Daddy doesn't even answer our calls. I remember what he told me then...
"That the day will come...that I will have to choose... That you must be right, that I will never regret in the end... Your right decision..."
Poirier has already chosen someone and I feel sad for my son... His Daddy has completely left him and abandoned him.
When I realized that maybe that was the reason, I was also hurt and felt like my heart was being crushed by the pain.
I'm sorry, my son. Because his other family is more important to your Daddy... Not us
"Mom? Won't... Daddy be coming?" my son asked me sadly. He was bent over and had been playing with his fingers. I find it hard to insist on that.
Today is her 4th birthday. In his past birthdays, except for his first birthday, his Daddy was no longer with us.
Arbeth and Lorda always prepare for Poinier's birthday.
I approached our bed because he was sitting there, after I dressed him. I stood next to him and gently touched his small face.
I could read the sadness and longing in my son's eyes. I caressed his cheek and kissed the top of his head.
"Daddy is always busy so he can buy you toys. Maybe..." I said nervously and I couldn't finish because his eyes were red and his tears were rolling down his cheeks. Any moment it will fall.
"But it's my birthday today, Mama... Should...my Daddy is here... He's always gone..." his voice trailed off. When her tears finally fell, I brought her head to my chest and hugged her.
