Chapter 4
I'm wearing a knee length wrap dress in maroon. I only have flat sandals.
"Thank you. Say thank you, Poinier," I said to my son who quickly looked at me. He smiled at me and even though it was difficult he also imitated what I said.
"Lamat..." he said shyly and we both laughed. I kissed his head tenderly.
"We're just going to visit his Grandma Resh. We'll be back," I said goodbye to the two.
"Alright, you two be careful," they said politely.
Poinier and I took a taxi and we arrived at our destination in just a few minutes. Outside its gate there was a flower seller so I bought a stem of white rose.
I didn't have a hard time bringing it because Poinier took the flower willingly. I wasn't worried that it might have a thorn and hurt him because I knew it was gone and clean.
The sun was shining so I brought an umbrella to keep Poinier out of the sun. Maybe it cried because of the extreme heat of the sun that was hitting me by chance.
I hold him in my right arm and the umbrella in my left hand.
I didn't walk far and we reached Mom's grave.
I smiled and lowered the umbrella to my side then knelt down. I made my son sit on my lap.
"This is Grandma Resh's, my son," I said to Poinier and he looked up at me.
"Yoya?" he asked, his pronunciation not good. I nodded and kissed his cheek.
He smiled sweetly at me and left from sitting on my lap. His little arm reached out to the grave to lay a white rose stem there.
"Yoya, okay?" he asked and gently caressed the name engraved there then he returned to me and hugged me.
"Mom, Yoya okay?" he talked to me.
"Yes, my son. Your grandmother is fine," I answered her, "Good day, ``Mom. Your beautiful grandson Poinier is with me," I said and glanced at my son.
"`Am I beautiful, Mama? `Is Nini beautiful?" he asked. I caressed his cheek. Nini is his nickname, his Daddy calls him that. He can't even pronounce his name Poinier. Only Nini can do it.
"Yes, Nini is beautiful... As beautiful as Mama," I replied with a smile and she laughed.
"I'm beautiful, Yoya!"
"Today is your grandson's first birthday, Mom... If only you were here and with us. We will prepare and celebrate our princess's birthday together," I said sadly as I stared I stared at his grave, "Let's sing him a birthday song and watch him blow out his candle after making a wish," I added and my voice almost broke.
The corners of my eyes warmed up until my tears slowly slid down my cheeks.
"But I know you are happy wherever you are now, Mom. I love you very much and your grandson loves you too,'' I said and bent down to see my daughter's beautiful face with twinkling eyes. he.
"Are you crying, Mom?" her small voice asked and her small hand touched my cheek.
"I love Yoya, I love you too, Mama..." he said and he almost gasped when he said it.
"I love you too, my daughter. You are Mama's life..." I said and hugged her tightly, "So I'm sorry my daughter, like your Mama, grew up without a Dad to be with and guide like that the same will happen to you, "Mama promises that no matter what happens, she will always be by your side and she will never leave you. If someone tries to hurt you, I'm ready to protect you, my son. Mama loves you so much, that even if she gets hurt...it's okay. Just don't let him see you... crying and hurt..." I said long and he stared at me as if he understood what I said.
He kissed my cheek and at the same time a cold wind enveloped our bodies. I even saw his eyes widen and clung to me because of the familiar coldness.
Mom is also hugging us... I can feel her.
It's true what I said that Dad wasn't there while Mom was pregnant with me until I grew up and made up my mind. My Mom doesn't tell me about my Dad either. I didn't even ask anymore because it seemed like he was avoiding something and didn't want to talk about it. So I just let it go.
We went to the mall for a while to buy him the gift he wanted even though I knew the money came from his Daddy.
So all I do is buy fabrics and embroider handkerchiefs with his name on them.
"Choose now, my son... Mama will pay," I begged her with a smile.
There are many toys around and there are also a few children inside happily choosing the toys they like. You can also hear their small voices, screams and laughter.
But my son remained silent just watching the children.
"Poinier?" I softly called her name and put her down but I took a position behind her to support her, "Does my princess want something?" I asked him again?
He tilted his head to see me and had a small smile on his lips. Later he taught something.
I thought he liked a toy but what he pointed to was the girl holding a small teddy bear.
"Is that what you want, Poinier?" I asked and picked him up.
He nodded and hugged my neck. We approached the place where the teddy bears were kept and Poinier took them himself.
"Seddy beal!" he said happily and brought it to his chest and hugged it. Maybe he meant a teddy bear.
The teddy bear she chose was baby blue, ``that's right for her baby gown that I will make her wear later.
"Does my Poinier want anything else?" I asked softly and he quickly shook his head. Only one thing is that my son is happy.
His Daddy always spoils him and he buys all kinds of dolls and toys, clothes but I know my son is a boy who is not too extravagant.
Just give him one thing and you will see his sweet smile.
Maybe because...my son inherited from me. Satisfied with just one thing.
I also paid for the teddy bear he had chosen and we left after that. But I stopped for a moment when I saw the family couple sweater. Her eyes are beautiful in color. Purple.
I smiled because I looked beautiful in the sweater. It was four pairs, with Daddy, Mommy, sister and baby brother printed on the chest.
I can't wear that with...because I won't have it anymore. My son is fine with me. Even though Poinier is the only one I have in my life. It's fine.
But in the end I still bought that family couple sweater. I don't know why I bought it, I just liked him...
Poinier and I passed by the studio and I thought about taking a picture of us.
The photographer talked to me for a while and made us sit on the white sofa. Poinier looked at the items one by one confused and maybe he was wondering why we were inside this studio.
"For your first birthday, my son. Remembrance," I explained to him and he nodded. I laughed softly because he seemed to really understand me.
Poinier was still in my arms and I was holding him on his little belly. My mother and I posed just like that.
"Smile, baby girl," said the photographer and I peered into my daughter's face. He is a really obedient child because his smile is wide.
"Good girl... One.. two... and three," he counted and then the camera flashed. Fortunately, both Poinier and I didn't blink.
We were given three copies. I put one in the picture frame, the one with us both. Our photo is in three different poses.
after we got back to the mansion, the living room was dark when I opened the front door, I was carrying the paper bag containing the picture frame and the family couple sweater I bought on my left and right and I carefully dropped it on the floor .
"Why is there no light here? Did your Sister Lorda and Sister Arbeth leave, Poinier?" I asked but he didn't answer and slowly walked to turn on the light.
He lit up and I saw that there was no one inside. Where are they?
"Let's look in the kitchen, son," I said and when I went to the kitchen there was no one either. Did they finish cooking?
My eyebrows just crossed because the kitchen utensils were barely touched. I don't know how I will feel now because no one prepared the food for my son's birthday celebration.
But even so, I shook my head and I was still smiling as I turned to look at Poinier. He still had the teddy bear in his hand. Be aware
"Mama's cooking later. Would you like spaghetti, Poinier?" I asked softly.
"Yes..." he just answered me sparingly because his attention was focused on his teddy bear.
We returned to the living room and I picked up the paper bag from the floor then we went up to our room.
I changed Poinier's clothes and put powder on his face because he must have been sweating earlier.
He was sitting on the bed and I took out our picture frame. ``It's just the right size. I put it on the bedside table and left three copies of our pictures next to it. I hid another paperbag in the closet. We can never use that.
"Come on down, Poinier," I begged my son and he raised his hands in the air. I picked him up and we were about to go back to the kitchen when I heard a noise outside, especially from the garden.
Are the two there?
