Ch. 19A Lie That Nearly Cost My Life

"Lock her up!" insisted Alpha Ammon.
Thank God Leah was never killed as had been suggested by the evil Derek.

"She will die if no one attends to her wound on time," I said, while still reeling from the pain Ammon had inflicted on me when he tried to make me open up about who Leah was. I have no idea if my request sounded appealing to the alpha.

"No one should attend to her," he said. He turned to me, "but you Louis can attend to her after she is kept under our maximum watch." The alpha turned to leave but then, halted his movement. "I almost forgot, a witch who is going take care of her when we are gone to Murdoch?"

I need not told what her intention was at that moment. He simply implied that we should let Leah die since we will be leaving for Murdoch that morning. I knew the alpha was desperate and would do anything to break his curse. If I must save Leah from the hands of death then, I must come up with a witty plan.
"Sir, there is another problem I have told you," I told him.

Derek and Eric glanced at me maybe in surprise. Perhaps, they might be wondering what I was up to this time.
"What's the problem, witch?" He asked with eagerness.

"A lot had changed in Murdoch after the destruction of my people. The magic book that we seek has been vandalized. I told them that I had hidden it myself down in one of the basements, that's true. I'm afraid it's no longer there," I told him.

At once, thealpha glanced at me in utter madness. He simply couldn't believe what I had told him. I now how we will behave next but, his current reaction to what I have told him was not good at all. Maybe, coming up with such a story for him was a bad idea. He began approaching me with is concentrated looks. "What did you just say, Witch? That what has happened to the magic book? Don't ell me this is true. I know you are joking, right?"

I nearly told him the truth but on second thought, I realized the danger I might be putting on myself the more I suffer the alpha or make her angry. Once his curse is broken and he sees no use for me again, he might not think twice about having me killed.
"It's true sir. It's gone. Sorry, I didn't tell you that Leah also knew where I had hidden it." I told him but, he cared not to listen to me. Suddenly, his hands landed heavily on my neck for the second time.

"What did you just say, witch? What didn't you tell me all those while I was wasting my precious time with you? Why are you so wicked and heartless?" He shouted while squeezing my neck so hard. It sounded ironic that he thinks I'm wicked when in reality, he and his brother wolves are the wicked ones.

"Please, you are hurting me!" I struggle to free myself but, his grip was too strong for me to a a fight.

"I don't care! I'm going to strangle you this time myself. You can burn in hell witch! For that's all I care!" He yelled in great anger. As if his grip on my neck was not enough for him, he moved on of his hands across my face and squeeze my nose, mouth and the the greater part of my cheeks. The pain I felt made me cry aloud in a high-pitched voice. I screamed as my life depended on it.

"No, Ammon! let her go. You will ruin our chance. I believe there must be an alternative to dumbness," Eric came to my rescue, while Derek as usual, observed with pleasure as Ammon punished me.

"I don't care! She has put me through a lot of humiliation. Just every time, I come close to ending this curse, something popsup to disrupt it. I'm not going to waste my time on this bastard," he raised me while choking my neck hardly. He choked me so high that my legs were not reaching the floor. I was already saying my last prayers because I never believe I will survive the pain he was inflicting on me.

"No stop Ammon!" Shouted Eric. Just when he attempted to save me by walking towards Ammon, Derek quickly pulled him back.

"What do you think you are doing Eric? Are you trying to save the Witch? Leave Ammon to finish what he has started! Said Derek.

"Are you insane?" Do you know what will happen if Loius is killed? Are you aware that Ammon will kiss goodbye to the possibility of having his curse broken? What are you thinking dumbhead?" Eric retorted.
Thank God at least one of them is beginning to reason positively.I could have been happier seeing the two wolves have issues because of me. However, that happiness was never shown on my face. I was almost fading from his choke-hold. I was still suspended in the air by his mighty arms. There was no escape. I thought that was it for me. My eyes were closing and my visions were blurred.

Suddenly, Eric's hand began to pull him down. "Let her go, Ammon! I don't think you know what you are doing at this moment. Don't let your control you especially, at this point in our quest. Please listen to me brother," he pleaded.

"She is useless to us! There is no need to keep her with us," insisted Ammon.

"We still need her. I will let you know how if you let her live," said Eric.
The alpha indeed, listened to him and released but, without allowing me to fall hard on the ground from his choke-hold.

"Now, what Eric? I have released her. Can suggest another way we can kill her with a harder punishment?" Said the alpha. I thought I had come to the end of life-threatening condition. How wrong I was, it was only the beginning of the whole story.
