Our special moment of reunification with joy and happiness never lasted. While we were in the embrace of each other, a tiny dart from nowhere landed on Leah's back. We had to let go of each other to find out what had opened. A voice was heard.
"Got ya!"
We turned around to the source of the voice and behold, he was no other but the number one enemy among the three wolf-brothers.
"You again!" Exclaimed Leah. "I will not let a repetition of last time. I will teach you a proper lesson this time," she folded her palms and was about to make a spell when I intervened.
"Wait a minute Leah, you know him?" I asked.
"Yes, of course, I know the bastard. He tried to kill with three wolf brothers but somehow, I managed to escape. It was mere luck that I survived their onslaught. However, what he doesn't know is that then and now are not the same. I will give him the taste of what they did to me last time," Leah folded her arms again to face off with Derek, who never looked like he was worried by her threats.
Derek began coming closer to us. "It seems like you have not learnt from your past mistake, witch? How many times will teach this important lesson of superiority? Tell me, how many times?"
"Why don't we wait and find out you bastard!" Shouted Leah.
"Oh, you seem to have forgotten that you have to go through them before you get to me?" Derek pointed at our back as he spoke. Maybe someone was standing behind us. Together with Leah, we turned around only to be greeted by the presence of the alpha and Eric.
"Hello, Witch! We meet again," said the Alpha.
"Burn in hell!" Annoyed and irritated, Leah attempted to make a quick spell she would use to fight her battle when she suddenly fell to the ground and lost consciousness.
"Not so fast witch!" Said the alpha. All of them began to laugh while coming closer to me and Leah who was lying lifeless on the ground. At that moment I knew they have had a history with Leah, and it was obvious it never ended, whatever happened to them in the past.
"I hate this witch," began Eric, "she talks too much. She is not like our buddy here loius," he tapped on my shoulders and they all laughed aloud again.
It was after their long laugh did the alpha turned his attention to me. "Louis, what were you talking about with her? Do you know how dangerous she was? And by the way, you told me you wanted to relieve yourself in the open environment, is this where you are relieving yourself liar?"
I was confused because I had nothing reasonable to present as my excuse. The alpha was right in his accusations. "I was here to do what I had told you when our path crossed," I defended.
"Oh I see," entered Derek. He turned to Ramon, "Loius spoke this dirty witch like she knew everything about her. I caught them hugging each other. There's no doubt, there must be a strong connection between the two of them."
Alpha Ramon stared at me. "Is that true loius? Do you know who this witch was?" He came closer to me but only to be greeted by the remnants of the year drops in my eyes. They fell on his feet as he stood facing me. "Are you weeping for the witch too? How pathetic!" He continued.
"I think Derek was right, these two must have known each other from a distance part," Eric added.
I was yet to organize myself and speak. I hated the manner with which they treated Leah. All her life had been marred by suffering. She lost her parents who were also Witches when she was very young. The village where her parents arrived was hunting for witches but was unknown to them until they fell, victim. They had escaped from another village far away from where they had been burst to be practicing witchcraft. The penalty was death by fire. They managed to escape before the villagers could lay their hands on them. Nevertheless, they were caught at the village they newly arrived. That was their end. Luckily for young Leah, Lady Gia saw her while flying around the countryside looking for a group deep in the isolated forest where she could build a fortress for all the Witches with her. They were escaping from my evil Aunt margarita. However, she didn't succeed as the living condition in the isolated part of the forest was not conducive enough. This forced her and her group to relocate to the Murdoch and lived underground for many years.
It was after Lady Gia's adventurous return that I discovered Leah. She had come home with someone of my size and age mate. We grew up together and developed a strong bond until disaster struck the Witches at the Murdoch that night.
"We are yet to hear from you, Louis?" The alpha reminded me.
"Please, what have you done to her," I cried while kneeling close to Leah. I tried to wake her up but, she was not responding. "Leah! Leah!" I shook her harder still, there was no response of any sort. 'Was she died from a single dart? I asked myself. It is highly unlikely that a single dart can kill her unless, of course, the dart was painted with some poisons.
Ignoring my question Eric entered, "Louis, you have not answered the question you have been asked, who is she to you?"
"There is no need of asking who was. We can dispose of her corpse right away or better still, allow her to rot and be eaten by ugly-irritating creatures. We can as well spit on her whenever we pass through here," taunted Derek.
His statements were the most horrible things I have ever heard in my life. My heart burned with hate for him. I told myself, 'if indeed Leah was killed by Derek's dart then, I will stop at nothing to make sure he is dead on the spot, even if it will jeopardize my mission and cost my life. Leah was worth it.
