Chapter Four
Ryan Pov
After handing her our biology notebook, I made my way towards my black Porsche parked on the other side of the parking lot.
I sat inside, refusing to ignite the engine, as I watched the other girl I dated for a week or so during the summer walk towards Tina, grabbing her arm.
I immediately opened my car door, wanting to go settle whatever it was that was happening, but stopped myself, knowing it had nothing to do with it.
I sat back down in my car, watching them talka bit, before a car pulled up, and I saw my girl and Alex of a guy entering the same vehicle, making me wonder how she was related to that loser.
Alex had been trying to get on my good side since we started school, always following me around, even during basketball training. At first, I found him weird and creepy, but that was until I found out he was just trying to be famous.
An idea popped into my head about how to be closer to the girl. I smirked while igniting my engine, making my way out of the parking lot with a brilliant plan in my head.
Alex Pov
“Hey common, are you really going to cry your eyeballs out for some guy that doesn’t even notice you?“ I asked my younger sister, irritated by her crying already.
Yes, I know she had this undying crush on Ryan. I mean, I understand the guy was super handsome and came from a very rich family. Even I tried getting on his good side so I could get famous, but it did not work out well.
“You don’t understand, Alex?“ Rita said, sobbing.
“Ryan is everything I want, alright, and I have been trying to get his attention for a long time. Even when we dated for only 4 days, he never really paid attention to me; I am sure he doesn’t even know my name right now.“ She finished sobbing badly.
If it were some other situation, I would be laughing my butt off right now at her, but I can see that she’s truly hurt.
I stood up from my seat, and I went to Sir by the arm of the chair in which she was sitting, patting her back awkwardly.
“It’s alright; I mean, there’s plenty of fish in the ocean, you know. I am sure you will get a great guy some day.“ I finished trying to comfort her.
“No, Alex, it’s either Ryan or nothing.“ She insisted before stomping out of the living room.
I signed, ruffling my hair a bit, before packing my stuff and the credit card that mom had given me to order lunch for us.
I made my way towards the stairs, stopping a bit off track as I saw Tina lying unconsciously at the foot of the steps.
I signed again before looking around slightly, wondering if to wake her or abandon her there so as not to get in trouble with the females around here.
I stood there with my arms folded as I looked at her.
Honestly, I pitied her most of the time, but there was nothing I could do to help her.
It was her against the two most important people in my life, and right now I choose to support my family.
I signed again before making my way over her towards my room, but not before placing a medicine tablet next to her, in case she needs it when she wakes up.
Rita’s Pov.
“What the hell does he even see in her, Bianca?“ I screamed, asking my friend over the phone.
“Hey common, I think you all are overexaggerating. I mean, why would he look at him? Think about it.“ Bianca replied.
“Exactly; besides, I know my cousin and I can say that girl of yours isn’t even his type.“ My second friend, Rose, replied.
“Are you sure?“ I asked both of them.
They both nodded from their screens, giving me some form of relief.
Maybe I was truly overthinking it. I mean, they were right—if a girl like me can’t get Ryan’s attention, how possible can Tina get it?
I mean, Tina is so old-fashioned and weak, and according to what I heard, Ryan hates weak girls.
I smiled into the camera, deciding to let go of the topic and my worries.
“So what’s up with your college hunk?“ I asked Bianca, deciding to change the topic.
After I had finished discussing with my girlfriend’s, I made my way downstairs to get a glass of water.
I stopped in my tracks, scoffing, as I saw her still lying there.
“It wasn’t even a hard hit.“ I said, scoffing again, before stepping on her and making my way to the kitchen.
Honestly, I wasn’t like this toward her before. Yes, I might not have ever liked her, but still, I never hated her this much. Well, until I knew how much attention she always wanted, she was always stealing Grandpa’s attention with her pity face.
The last straw was when she decided to step foot in my world. What was it that she said again?
‘We can now be real sisters.‘ Yeah, right. I was always above her in everything, and until she gets the fact that no one wants her through her thick skull and bows to my feet, then we are going to keep having problems.
I was so excited when I heard that Rico had bet on her. I knew how much she liked Rico. But his eyes were always on me.
We did have sex a couple of times, but the most fun one was Tina's face after she caught us making out in the kitchen, a few moments after he proclaimed his love for her.
I chuckled to myself as I made my way back to my room, as I remembered her shocked expression looking at the both of us.
What did she expect except that some rich guy was going to fall head over heels in love with her and swipe her away from her life of misery?
Such a naive girl, but then again, she was always like her mother, causing trouble for everyone anywhere she went.
Tina’s Pov.
I woke up with my head pounding and my body hurting. I sat up slightly, looking around the now dark area, wondering where I was, as I couldn’t find the window in my room.
“Ahh!“ I cried out, grabbing my pounding head.
I tried recalling everything that had happened before signing, as memories of getting hit by a hard Gucci bag flashed through my face.
I slowly stood up, dusting myself. I still can’t believe my aunt will hurt me over some guy issues with her daughter.
Seriously, I don’t even know this guy, but for sure, I do know I have to stay away from him.
As I was about to take a step on the stairs, something fell from my jacket. I bent down, trying to feel what it was, as the room was dark and I couldn’t see anything.
My hands came into contact with the tablet on the floor, making me smile. Aunt Prachi, my aunt’s maid, has put it there for me.
She was the only person that lives in this house, I thought before making my way into the room.
I turn on the lamp in my room, afraid to turn on the lights so as not to get beaten for wasting electricity again.
I took out the burger I put in my bag during lunch and munched on it before taking the drug.
After I was through, I stood up, making my way to the half-broken mirror on the other side of my room, looking through it.
I gasped at my own reflection.
How the well was I suppose to go to school tomorrow, looking like some warrior who had survived a nuclear bomb reaction.
I scanned my reflection in the mirror, groaning a little.
I had busted lips and a lot of cuts on the right side of my head.
“Damn it, does that woman know nothing about sympathy and sense?“ I said it slowly under my breath.
“Well, I guess she lacks fashion sense, parenting sense, and now even common sense.“ I said, groaning out loud again, before turning to my bed and slamming myself against it.
My mind drifted through everything that had happened today, my mouth lifting to a curve as I remembered my new friend.
Deciding to close my eyes and force myself to sleep, as my body was aching me already and I still had to get up on time to do house chores, I kicked off my socks, covering myself with my bedspread, and said a little prayer before drifting to sleep in the same clothes I wore out.
“Good morning, Aunt Prachi,“ I called the next morning, entering the kitchen cheerfully.
“Good morning, child. Oh my God, what happened again? Did you do something wrong? How the hell did she bruise you this much?“ She asked, grabbing my favorite gently.
I smiled slightly before stopping. I waited to see why she was acting like she didn’t know.
“Wait, aunt, you are just knowing?“ I asked her, confused.
“Well, yes, why?“ She asked back.
“Then you weren’t the one who put the painkillers in my jacket?“ I asked again, and she looked at me confused before shaking her head.
“Common, forget about that; maybe your aunt dropped them for you. Here, take this and eat it quickly.“ She said she was handing a few pieces of chicken crumps to munch on.
I thank her before quickly collecting it and going to the back of the kitchen to eat.
My drifted off many times to who it might be. I knew my aunt and her daughter don’t have the heart to give me painkillers, which only left Alex in the equation.
But if it really was him, then why?
