"Do you know who's the well-known syndicate here?" Magnus asked.
I shook my head.
He looked at me from head to toe. And then he grinned. "Your father."
For a moment I did not move at what he said. But after a while I got serious.
"My father will never do that to his people." I couldn't stop myself from speaking.
He grinned while watching my seriousness. "Really?"
"He is maybe not the best father," I said boldly and looked at his eyes, "but he is not the Alpha who will make everybody his slave and torment them just to prove his power."
He laughed calmly. "So, what do you call him kicking Artemis Williams out of your pack?"
I stared at Magnus. "I know he has a good reason," I answered bravely.
"Well then." He stood up and sighed. He stepped closer to me. And the earlier laughter in his expression completely disappeared. "Prepare yourself. We are leaving tonight. Let's just see what good reason you can think of when you see the event later," he said after turning his back on me.
I continued to look after him and I just saw him gradually disappearing from my sight.
SET 3
It was afternoon when I left the packhouse. I immediately went straight to the tree house and looked up. Magnus' young brother was still there and was busy drawing. I noticed that since morning he has not left this place.
I didn't think twice about climbing the tree house. After climbing up, the boy who was facing the window while looking at a tree immediately looked at me. That's what he was drawing.
I walked closer to him and bowed slightly. “Hi, crown prince of BloodPearl. I am Freya. And starting today, I will be your new nanny," I introduced the child with a big smile.
But he just continued drawing as if he didn't hear anything. Silence prevailed so I just cleared my throat. I was looking forward to this thing, which Magnus and he have in common in temperament.
I walked closer and stood next to him to look at his drawing. Only then did I notice that he was frowning as he was seriously drawing the apple from the tree.
When he made a mistake in his drawing, he immediately crumpled the paper in annoyance and just threw away the pile of crumpled paper wherever it was.
Now I understand why he was here all day.
For a while I just let myself watch the child in what he was doing and observe it. As he did earlier, he ended up crumpling the papers because he ran out of patience with what he was drawing.
And for the last time he was about to crumple up the paper when I immediately stopped him.
He stopped and frowned at me. "Who are you?" he asked.
I smiled. "I am your new nanny. And what is your name by the way?”
He laughed suddenly. "You're my nanny and yet you don't know my name?" he answered annoyed causing me to be silent.
They are really the same brothers.
"Alright." I sighed. "I won't ask you any question anymore, but here's why you keep doing wrong in drawing an apple."
I took the pencil from his hand and the same paper he was drawing on. I showed him my drawing as I spoke, "Apples are not totally a circle because they have curves. So, here's how you do it."
I calmly explained to him the correct drawing of the apple until I noticed that his attention gradually focused on what I was teaching.
When finished, I returned the paper and pencil to him. "Your turn," I promised with a smile.
At first he hesitated but finally sighed. He took the pencil and tried to draw the apple again.
At first I thought he would make another mistake but I just smiled when he got older because unlike before he was able to draw it properly.
Later he colored his drawing. He begged me to help him and I complied. He was quiet but I was glad to see him smiling.
When we finished coloring, he wrote his name on the paper.
Prince Malbonte, what a majestic name. I thought in mind.
But I also stopped when he gave me the paper and pencil. "I am not the only one who created this so, you have to put your name too," he said.
I was about to moan at first but when I felt that the child was going to struggle, I smiled and nodded. I took the pencil and wrote my name there.
I returned the paper and pencil to Prince Malbonte and said cheerfully, "Done!"
He took the drawing and read what I wrote. "Mia Eveleigh..." He frowned at me. "I thought, you are Freya? You're the princess of Kingdom of Sonorous right?”
My eyes widened when I realized what I had written.
I saw Prince Malbonte frown.
But before he got suspicious, I immediately laughed. "Mia is just my second name."
The boy looked at me for a few seconds, but after a few seconds, his face lit up, causing me to breathe easy.
"If so, I want to call you by your second name."
I bit my lip at what I heard. I don't know if that's a good idea, but since I said it was my second name, it looks like no one will suspect who I really am.
When he finished signing his work, I applauded. “You're such a talented prince. I thought you look like your older brother who is even scarier than a monster, but it's not because you're just a nice kid," I continued laughing.
Prince Malbonte looked at me, "You call the Alpha a monster?" he promised incredulously.
I nodded bravely. “Magnus Haven is a monster—”
"Talking behind my back, huh."
My eyes widened when suddenly someone spoke behind me. I stood up and faced the man who spoke and there I saw the serious face of Magnus.
