And when he finished reading that, he put down the diary while being shocked by what he found out.
The contents of the diary indicate Prince Malbonte's desire to know the true family he belongs to, that Magnus is not his true family, that he is not really from the BloodPearl Pack, that he is not happy about being an heir, that he never preferred to be the next Alpha of a pack.
"Mia?"
Mia looked at Prince Malbonte who was now sitting. He noticed that the boy's attention was now focused on the diary he was holding.
"So, you read it?" Prince Malbonte asked.
Mia put the diary back on the table and walked closer to Prince Malbonte. "Why don't you even talk about that stuff?" asked Mia.
Prince Malbonte snorted. "Please don't tell Alpha Magnus… or anyone."
"But you want to be with your real family, right?" asked Mia.
Prince Malbonte nodded and eventually sobbed. "If my real family were with me now, I wouldn't have to force myself to cope with the work of an Alpha. Now, I am seeing myself as a bad person. What I am doing is just to survive but, Mia, I don't want to be an Alpha in the first place. I just want a simple life where I can play with other kids. I just want… a peaceful life.”
Mia's tears flowed from Prince Malbonte's words. But Mia immediately wiped her tears and smiled in front of Prince Malbonte. "I will help you, I promise you, I will help you."
Then Prince Malbonte's face lit up and he looked at Mia. “Mia…”
"Hey look." Mia laughed and patted Prince Malbonte's head. "I made you some milk and also brought some biscuits. Let's eat?”
Prince Malbonte nodded with a big smile and took the food for the two of them to share.
A few days later, Mia had just gathered the strength to knock on Magnus Haven's room.
They hadn't seen each other for a few days and he didn't know what Magnus was busy with right now but he was reassured that he hadn't taken Prince Malbonte with him these past few days.
But he still won't be completely reassured until he is sure that Magnus will release Prince Malbonte. He must be the one to make a way for the freedom of a boy like Prince Malbonte.
Mia swallowed when the door suddenly opened and the freshly bathed Magnus appeared in front of her.
"What?" he promised coldly.
Mia took a deep breath and spoke bravely. "We need to talk."
"We are already talking," he answered.
Mia rolled her eyes in her mind. Patience, Mia, patience.
"I want you to..." Mia began. "I want you to bring Prince Malbonte back to his real family."
Magnus was stunned at that. "Who told you that?"
"Alpha, please."
"I am his real family."
Magnus then turned around and went straight to his office table. Mia even saw how he took a book and distracted himself there.
"No, you are not." Mia bravely walked over to Magnus office table and faced him. "If you were his real family, you wouldn't force him to do things he didn't want to do. And if you are truly his family, you will respect his desire to live a simple and peaceful life. Magnus. And I mean to call you by your name. Hear me out. Can't you see that the boy is not happy with what he is doing?”
Magnus put the book down and looked directly at Mia.
Mia Eveleigh's POV
I can only confirm one thing. Magnus Haven doesn't agree with what I want.
"Why?" Now, I couldn't help but to ask. "Isn't it obvious that Prince Malbonte doesn't want to be following your line as an Alpha?"
He looked at me for seconds, we stared at each other as if feeling each other. But it ended up that he just ignored me. He looked again at the book he was holding and then focused his full attention there.
I stopped asking and just looked at my trembling hands. Damn it, I thought. My acting was so bad. He was not even affected by my warning.
What else did I expect? I'm just a slave in this packhouse and I will never have a voice, especially in the life of this Alpha.
I wiped the tears that came out and frowned as I stared at Magnus' face at the same time as I stood again. I could feel my knees are swelling now because of mixed emotions.
I wonder, what would it look like if I do another way that will make him say yes to what I ask for? What if I seduce him? And make him fall in love with me?
I grinned at the thought. Geez, Mia Eveleigh, that sounds effective.
If I don't have a voice in his life and I'm suddenly begging him to give me the big thing I'm asking for, I'm going to have a really hard time. But when I get close to Magnus, I'm sure I'll have a voice in his life and by chance I won't have any trouble helping Prince Malbonte.
I sighed. "In that case, I will respect your decision, Alpha. But don't expect that I won't be a rebuke."
His eyebrows met together as he looked at me from head to toe.
My face changed. From intense begging, I smiled bravely and stepped closer to his table. I took a deep breath and looked around Magnus' office with a smile.
Suddenly, he pays attention to what I am doing. His face became even more serious when he saw me sat down in front of him. I looked at the painting behind Magnus that was hanging on the wall and wowed in amusement.
It is a painting of the moon, and inside the moon, there was a shadow of a man and a woman. I notice they have swords on their hands that could be meant for their rivalry.
