She could smell a woman's perfume on his shirt. It was obvious he slept with someone during the night while she kept burning mid night oil waiting for him. Freya convinced herself over a period of time she would accept her fate. Her eyes would feel dry with no more tears coming and heart will turn to a stone with no emotions. After a few minutes Justin came out of the study with a few papers in his hand.
After she finished having the breakfast Justin handed her the papers. "These are contract papers. Sign them." He put the pen before her and Freya's eyes bloomed with rage. Agreed, the marriage suggestion came from her side. Justin only wanted to sleep with her for week days. But today when their marriage contract was placed before her she wasn't the least bit happy with the feeling.
Freya did not want her marriage to end. This may only be a contract for Justin, but for her it was the sacred union of two souls made in heaven. Freya was a very religious and principled girl. She believed in morals and saw an untold love for her in Justin's eyes. Was it only her illusion? Freya felt it unbelievable. Her eyes did not cheat her till date. There was something about him that she was missing, something he was fighting and at the same time suffering. Freya wanted to figure out the pain and heal the wound in his heart but the question was would he allow her to enter his kernel?
Justin was a very reserved person. He never shares his sorrows with others. Freya has to venture into him without his knowledge to fight his aches. She resisted herself in reading the contract because it would hurt her to an irredeemable and it would be the last option on earth for her to show her tears to Justin.
Hiding her pain in the curtain of anger Freya scribbled the signature on the places Justin pointed and threw the papers on his face. Justin's ears were literally emitting fumes from her hostility but it was her fortune he restrained himself from firing on her. Walking back to the bedroom, Freya changed to her nurse uniform and was about to leave the house for the day's duty when Justin stopped her.
"Where are you going?" Freya told him slightly irritated and as a matter of fact. "To work. Otherwise where else would I go?"
Justin folded the papers and put them in an envelope. "You are not going to work anymore. I already sent to the hospital your resignation letter."
"You did what?" Freya asked taken aback bombing with rage. Justin shrugged as if what he did was nothing. "You are too young for employment, I registered your name in New York University. You can pursue your dream by completing your post graduation in sociology and human resource management."
For the moment what Freya wanted was to hold Justin, cut him to several pieces and fry in the oil to make a curry. Biting each word specifically she told him. "Forcing. Me. To. Resign. My. Job. Is. None. Of.your.Business." She closed her eyes and took a long breathe arresting the ear bleeding curses about to fall her lips. "I have a family to feed and guess that I'm not going to die after two years when I leave you I need to work for my fingers to reach my mouth for the three meals a day. So please leave my private decisions to me."
Justin smirked pushing his hands in the pant pockets. He observed her top to toe and pushed a strand behind her ear before kissing her forehead. "Madam if you remember, I told you, you are not leaving my house with empty hands. You will have a decent bank balance with you which can feed you and your family for the next five generations. So don't worry you're safe to start your education." Justin patted the upper arms of Freya.
There was a blaze in her eyes. Freya did not reciprocate him but simply walked to the entrance. Justin gritted his teeth holding her arm in order to stop her. "Oh yeah? How dare you walk away when I'm speaking to you?" Freya squared him with her eyes as big as saucers in an equal challenge. "I dared. What can you do, Mr Justin Cooper?"
Justin brought his eyes down and noted both their chests touching each other. He fizzled. "How could you break your contract and proceed with the job. Do you have the money of ten millions to pay me?"
Freya stared at him startled. "What are you telling me?"
Justin voiced nonchalant. "The contract says you are not supposed to work anywhere, no boyfriends and no relationships. You will be my dutiful wife and behave according to my wishes."
"What do you mean? The contract only says, I stay married to you for the next two years." Justin simply shrugs arresting the simper. "I did not ask you to sign the contract without reading it."
"I trusted you. I thought you will not..." Freya's hands went to fists hitting Justin on his chest as her eyes watered. Justin's features changed to compassion. He extended his arms and pulled Freya to his chest. "I did not ditch you Sweetheart. Why will I do that to you?" He bends his head and kisses her cheeks before wiping away her tears. "Do not cry." He requests in tenderness.
Freya pushes his hands away from her face in anger but Justin doesn't argue. He speaks the words of his heart. "Live hour dream. You love doing social work. Isn't it? So this is the group you ought to take in order you realize your aspiration." Freya mutters a series of profanities under her breathe and yells. "Stop interfering with my life. You want my body. Am I right? So here I am." She unbuttons her shirt and spreads her arms sideways. Come on."
