After the trial, Jessie seemed quite satisfied with the betrayer's downfall, but Hans appeared genuinely remorseful for his actions. Before being led away to the iron bars, he approached Jessie with a melancholic expression.
"Forgive me, Jessie. I deserve all of this," Hans said, walking towards the place where he would face the consequences of his deeds.
Jessie couldn't bring herself to say anything. She remained silent, observing the three individuals who had attempted to kill her multiple times. Evan, seeing her, tried to comfort Jessie by holding her hand.
"It's all over, Jess," Evan said.
Evan's words brought a sense of relief to Jessie, and she smiled. "Thank you, Evan. You've always been there for me," they exchanged glances, revealing love and affection in their eyes.
...
One year after the trial,
"Evan, don't do this. You know this isn't the first time for me," Jessie protested to Evan.
"Why? What's wrong? You know I'm doing this for the first time, right?" Evan didn't want to hear any objections from Jessie.
"Ah, how can we have such an extravagant wedding, Evan? Let's keep it simple. I'm too embarrassed for a grand ceremony," Jessie couldn't finish her sentence as Evan sealed her mouth with a sweet kiss.
"Forgive me, Jessie. Our parents will be happy, and why feel uncomfortable? It's our wedding; everyone deserves to know about our happiness," Evan pleaded with the woman now in his arms.
"Ahh, Evan, how can I..." Jessie sighed. Evan continued to plead and show his pitiful expression. "Ha ha, alright, alright. I guess I have no way out," Jessie continued.
Evan released his embrace. "Emm? What do you mean?" Evan asked, looking a bit confused.
"I'm trapped in your love, Evan," Jessie said, blushing.
"Jessie," Evan said, his eyes sparkling.
"What now?" Jessie asked.
"Let's proceed with our wedding event. Ah, I can't wait," Evan whined.
"Ha ha, you're like a child. Not old, Evan. Let's stick to the schedule," Jessie replied. They laughed together, surrounded by happiness.
...
(Flashback to when Jessie and Evan became a couple)
"Jessie!" Evan called out during winter, a season that made people prefer staying indoors. Only a few were outside, including Evan and Jessie.
Jessie, who had walked ahead of Evan, turned around at the sound of his voice. "I love you," Evan confessed after harboring his feelings for so long.
Jessie seemed a bit surprised. She, who initially saw Evan as just a friend, now opened her heart and regarded Evan as a man, a man who was always there for her.
"Okay," Jessie replied with a smile.
"Wh-what? Okay? Did she just say okay?" Evan wondered in his mind. Overjoyed at Jessie's response, Evan ran towards her and hugged her.
"Jessie, thank you. Thank you for trusting me, for waiting for me, despite my lack of courage," Evan said, continuing to tightly embrace Jessie.
"Evan, I just said okay, right?" Jessie asked.
Hearing this, Evan spontaneously let go of the hug. "Wh-what do you mean?" Evan looked confused, afraid that Jessie might not accept him.
"Ha ha ha, I was just kidding, Evan. Thank you for waiting for me too," Jessie said while holding Evan's hand tightly.
They looked at each other. "Jessie, I promise to always make you happy. Just like when we played together before, I will always help you in difficult times, be a bridge for you to reach your goals, and most importantly, I will make sure your wounds never reopen. I will turn them into memories of our happiness," Evan said at length.
Jessie nodded, agreeing with Evan's words. Happiness sparkled in her eyes, long deprived of the sincerity of love that Evan now offered.
"Of course, Evan. I will also ensure that this relationship will never fail again. I love you, Evan," Jessie said in her heart.
...
Three days before Jessie and Evan's wedding,
In Jessie's now thriving boutique,
"Miss, someone is looking for you," Grace, now Jessie's personal secretary, said.
"Really? Who? Evan?" Jessie asked while still focused on her laptop screen.
"Jessie," a voice of a middle-aged woman, whom Jessie recognized, spoke. Jessie stopped her activities and turned towards the voice.
"Mother," Jessie said with a saddened expression.
The woman was none other than Hans's mother, Jessie's former mother-in-law. "Jessie, forgive me," Hans's mother said, tears streaming down her face.
"No, Mother, you're not at fault," Jessie replied, approaching her former mother-in-law.
"No, Jessie, I am guilty towards you. I knew about Hans's affair with Maria, but I was a terrible parent. I couldn't advise my son, and he ended up committing such a crime," Hans's mother confessed, still crying in front of Jessie. "I sincerely apologize, Jessie," she continued, about to kneel in front of Jessie. "I truly didn't expect my son to be a murderer," the old woman continued.
"Mother, stand up. You're not at fault. I am the one who was incompetent as a wife, allowing my husband to cheat. There's no need for you to blame yourself," Jessie said, lifting Hans's mother so she wouldn't kneel.
"Jessie, you're too good. You're too perfect as a wife. Again, I apologize, and please don't consider me as someone else in the future," Hans's mother explained, who had never done any harm to Jessie.
"Mother, you are my mother-in-law. Even though I have separated from Hans, it has nothing to do with you," Jessie explained again. They finally forgave each other and embraced.
Evan, who was behind the door, smiled upon seeing Jessie and his former mother-in-law. "I never made a mistake in choosing you, Jessie. You're too kind, even after their son tried to kill you twice, you're still willing to hug him and forgive his mistakes. Your heart is truly big, Jessie," Evan said in his heart.
...
The wedding day for Evan and Jessie arrived,
In a wedding hall, photos of Jessie and Evan were displayed in various corners, showing their joy in the pre-wedding pictures. Evan, in the waiting room, looked nervous. Ken, who had just arrived, entered the room.
"Oh, forgive me, Miss Natalie, ah, I mean Jessie. I can't believe you guys hid this from me so well," Ken said, surprised to see Jessie soothingly stroking her fiancé's back.
"Ah, Ken, see how nervous your friend is," Jessie said while continuing to caress Evan's back.
"Well, that's how he is. I didn't believe it at first when he declared his love for you," Ken teased Evan.
"Ken, get out of here. Your presence is not helping," Evan scolded Ken.
"Ha ha, alright, I'll wait in the main hall. Just be careful not to stumble while walking," Ken teased Evan again before leaving.
A few hours later, the MC finally invited the couple to the altar. Jessie and Evan looked
very harmonious as they walked together. "Do I look nervous?" Evan asked, walking stiffly.
"No, you look very cool," Jessie replied, trying to reassure Evan.
All the guests who had come laughed at Evan's awkward walking. "Evan, don't be nervous!" Ken shouted from a distance.
"I knew it was Ken's voice, right?" Evan asked Jessie.
"Never mind him," Jessie smiled, looking at her innocent boyfriend.
After exchanging rings on their ring fingers, they finally became husband and wife. Happiness was painted on Jessie and Evan's faces. Then, Evan gently kissed Jessie's forehead.
"I love you, Jessie," Evan said.
"Likewise, Evan," Jessie replied.
