"Are you hard of hearing, stupid, or both.” The voice that yelled earlier repeats as the Guard ignores him, his hands already moving to push at my shorts. This time I fight back, throwing my head against his in hopes of breaking his nose as well.
“I said unhand her you ignoramus." The deep male voice is close and right now, he is my only hope in getting out of this mess. The Guard stops, giving me a chance to try and take a look at the man who is saving me but unfortunately for my luck, the Guard is like a brick wall.
"What I am doing doesn't concern a Palace Guard, now keep moving pretty boy." The Guard nearly yells back, causing me to flinch for a moment. What the hell is a Palace Guard doing here of all places. The Regent never cares about this place.
"This is the last warning." The Palace Guard warns, his voice growing closer. The Guard holding onto me scoffs, most likely deciding to ignore the man. Without warning, the Guard is off me and howling on the floor, his screams of pain making me wince but I am free of him. Shocked, I do nothing but stare at the sight and wish that I had something to record this moment. Never had I saw anyone take down the Guards here and it is pretty damn awesome in my books.
"Thank god I got lost in here or else I would have been to late to protect you." I turn to look at the man that just saved me, slowly taking in his attire. He wares black dress pants, a matching black leather Jacket, a navy blazer and a deep blue dress shirt under the blazer. A silver belt with a gold buckle holds his pants up and attached to the belt is a sword in its sheath and a gun holstered and kept in working condition. The only thing missing is the taser in his hands that he places in his pocket.
He looks to the Guard still on the floor before back at me, his eyes scanning my body before he lands on my arms. I frown, wanting to cover myself up but I can’t. My arms are still bound behind my back.
“Can I help you take those off of you?” He asks, hands up in surrender. I hesitate before nodding, stepping towards the man and turning so that my back is facing him. He makes quick work in removing the cuffs, throwing them onto the ground and making me jump from the clattering sound.
“Sorry.” He whispers sheepishly. With my hands free, I turn to face the man once more and rub my wrist that are sore from the mistreatment.
“Are you cold?” He asks and I nod, unsure if I should be talking to him. He sighs, stepping back and slowly takes off his jacket before stretching his hand out to me. I reach for the jacket, craving the warmth it can provide but hesitate. What if this is a trap.
The man waits patiently, giving me a friendly smile and I decide that trap or not, I want to be warm. Taking the jacket into my hands, I quickly put it on and sigh with relief. I haven’t felt this warm in ages.
"Thank you." I whisper, getting a smile from the man. The scent of his cologne lingers, giving me a sense of déja vu as if I have smelt it somewhere before, some time long ago. Confuse, I reach for my necklace, finding some comfort as I rub my thumb along the crest.
"Were you hurt?" The man asks and I turn to look back at him, catching the insignia on his blazer – one that was the same as the crest on my necklace. Looking to his face, I feel like he is familiar. That deep down I know this man from his startling blue eyes to black as the night sky hair. I feel my heart begin racing as I try to figure out how I know this man, but a sharp pain in my head has my vision blurring and the world spinning.
"Are you alright? Did he hi-" The man begins to ask, worry etched in his voice. Before I can hear the rest of his words, my ears begin to ring and I soon find myself falling. Strong arms catch me before I can hit the hard floor, the scent that lingered on the jacket wraps around me as the world fades away.
