“Welcome to the Wildeye residence, Emma,” Lyka sneered, her lips curling into a mocking smile.
“I wonder why he - never mind. Starting today, you'll be in my service. You understand your role as an omega, don't you?” she added condescendingly.
Following Lyka's curt instructions, she turned away, leaving Emma in the company of the other servants, all of whom were omegas as well. They then guided Emma inside the imposing mansion.
The Wildeye family, renowned for their wealth and influential connections in the state of Emberfall, ranked among the most affluent families in the region.
One of the omega servants led Emma through the house, outlining her new duties.
“This is the maid quarters; this is where you'll be staying from now on. Lady Lyka's room is on the third floor, marked by the largest door on that level,” the omega informed her.
“In this estate, we have only four scheduled breaks: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a fourth break of our choice. You already know your responsibilities here, right? Your primary duty is to tend to Lady Lyka's needs, whatever they may be,” she added, her words emphasizing the unyielding commitment expected from Emma in her new role.
“This is your room; you can rest here for a while. However, please proceed to the dining room after an hour,” the omega servant said before leaving Emma alone in her new room.
Emma carefully examined the entire room and settled on the bed with a heavy sigh.
“So, this is going to be my room from now on. I hope I won't meet the same fate as the omegas who came before me,” she murmured to herself, her voice tinged with apprehension.
“But I'm all alone now,” she sighed once more.
“You're not alone, Emma; I'm still here,” her wolf, Emily, reassured her.
“Besides, if it ever comes to that, I'll protect you. You know we're the fastest among the pack, so escaping is easy for us when things get rough,” Emily added, her voice a comforting presence in Emma's mind.
“You're right; I'm sorry about that, Emily,” Emma said, chuckling softly at her own momentary lapse in confidence.
Despite the uncertainty of the journey ahead, Emma remained resilient. She maintained a positive spirit, understanding that this new situation could bring significant benefits. The Wildeye family was wealthy, promising a high salary that could support her family back home. This opportunity was especially crucial now, considering her mother's recent departure from her role as a cook at the main pack house.
“You have got to be kidding; are you stupid?! What do you think you're doing?!” a voice thundered down the corridor.
As Emma made her way towards the dining room, which she'd been shown just a little while ago, she couldn't help but overhear the raised voice. Upon reaching the dining room's entrance, she was met with the sight of Lyka, her face twisted in anger as she berated another omega servant. It was evident that the servant had made a significant mistake, causing juice to spill all over the floor. While a part of Emma hesitated to enter the room, she pushed forward, her concern about being late overriding her initial reservations.
Once inside, she moved closer to the omega servant, whose head was lowered in submission, clearly affected by Lyka's outburst.
“Clean up this mess, you imbecile! How many weeks have you been here and you're still making mistakes? Are you truly this incompetent? Ugh! This is precisely why omegas remain at the bottom of the rank. You're not only weak but also utterly foolish. You can't even manage a simple task properly!” Lyka's voice rang out as she scolded the servant omega. She abruptly rose from her chair in frustration.
“You! Come with me!” she snapped, pointing at Emma, before storming out of the dining room.
Emma felt bewildered but chose to follow her. They ascended the stairs to Lyka's room. Upon arrival, Lyka seated herself and promptly issued an order.
“Fetch me some juice, right away! I despise waiting, and I have no patience for sluggish people. Move quickly!” she commanded.
Emma was puzzled. 'Why didn't she request juice when we were downstairs?' she wondered silently.
“Are you deaf? Did you even hear what I said? I want juice now!” Lyka shouted at her, causing her to startle and swiftly depart the room, heading for the kitchen to fetch the requested juice.
Upon receiving the glass of juice, she swiftly made her way to Lyka's room.
“Here's your juice,” she informed Lyka, placing the glass on the end table adjacent to the chair where she was seated.
“Lady Lyka,” Lyka corrected.
“Pardon?” she replied, bewildered.
“Lady Lyka, you must address me as Lady Lyka. Are you so dense that even basic respect eludes your narrow mind?” Lyka sneered.
“Excuse me?” Emma retorted.
“Ha! You seriously talking back to your master?!” Lyka exclaimed, her eyes fixed with a harsh glare on Emma.
Seeing the shock and anger reflected on Emma's face, she smirked and continued, “That's right. You are my servant so you must address me properly that is your fate as an omega,”
“Anyway, I have somewhere important to be today. I need to get ready, and your responsibility is to assist me with selecting my outfits and other things,” she said as she stood up from her seat.
“The closet is right there. Bring out some of my dresses,” she instructed, pointing towards the closet door.
Feeling puzzled, Emma followed her orders. She approached the closet and pulled out several dresses, although she wasn't entirely certain which ones to choose. Nevertheless, she brought them out.
It took them an hour for Lyka to complete her preparations. Once they were both ready, they made final arrangements to leave.
“If there's anything you need to get, do it now. We'll be heading out in 15 minutes,” Lyka told Emma.
“Alright, I'll be quick,” Emma replied before heading back to her room.
After gathering all the items, she needed, they departed. While en route in the car, Lyka explained all of Emma's responsibilities and tasks while serving under her.
