Donnie
It took me a full minute to process Jack's audacious actions and when I did, I was enraged.
“Just what do you think you're doing?!” I screamed and tried to loosen Jack's grip on my hand.
Jack ignored me, and with a determined look on his face, continued to drag me across the dancefloor.
I looked back to see the hot man who'd approached me. He stood there, staring at me as though he didn't understand what had happened. Well, that made two of us.
I faced Jack, “Let go of me!” I hit his arm as hard as I could. He ignored me and continued dragging me.
Since he'd decided not to listen to me, I decided to get his attention some other way.
I aimed and kicked Jack's calf as hard as I could, expecting him to buckle or stagger at least.
Jack only grunted and stopped walking. But I got my wish when he faced me. His eyes were narrowed, his nostrils flared and his jaw bulged. I needed nobody to tell me Jack was annoyed with me.
“What is wrong with you?” I didn't let him say a word before I bore down on you, “Are you crazy? How dare you embarrass me like that! I was going to talk to that hot man!”
Jack put his mouth to my ear so I'd be able to hear him and gritted out, “You agreed to leave this place once I told you to. Let's go now!”
“No,” I shook my head, and freed my hand from Jack's grasp, “I agreed to leave this place if you saw any danger. Clearly, that's not the case here. You just don't want me to have any fun!”
Jack looked surprised, “You think I'm doing this to mess with you? Grow up, Donatella! I don't care about that! I have a job to keep you safe, and that's what I'm doing.”
Before I could argue with Jack, Lisa interrupted us, a discombobulated frown marring her pretty face.
“What's going on here?” Lisa folded her arms, “And Jack, it was rude of you to drag her away, and leave me with that stranger.”
“Did you get his name?” I asked Lisa eagerly, “Did he hit on you? Ask for your Insta handle?”
Lisa shook her head, “Nope.”
“Wait,” I continued, “Don't tell me he asked for your number. He's old-fashioned?”
Lisa repeated, “No. He was actually interested in you. He told me he'd love to meet you, and that he'd wait the whole night here, in case you returned.”
My heart began to flutter. The man sounded so romantic. I craned my neck to see if he was still waiting at that spot, when Jack tugged at my hand once again.
“Leave me!” I yelled.
“Over my dead body!” Jack ground out, “We're getting out of here!”
He began to drag me once again, and no matter how hard I tried to stop him, Jack didn't budge.
“Please, help me!” I begged Lisa, seeing as every other person on the dance floor was occupied dancing.
“How?” Lisa queried, “It just isn't possible. Let's just get out of here and not cause a scene. Imagine if someone posts a video, and your father catches wind of it.”
Lisa's words were the balm I needed to calm down. If my father found out I was trying to get away from Jack, he'd be sorely disappointed and annoyed with me.
I quietened and told Jack coldly, “Let me go. I'll follow you out.”
Jack didn't even acknowledge my words. He just lessened his grip around my wrist, but he still hurried me out of the club.
When we got to my car, Jack nudged me into the back seat along with Lisa, before taking the driver's seat.
“What was that all about, Jack?” I asked, not bothering to hide the irritation in my voice, “And don't try to ignore me. I deserve an explanation.”
Jack's eyes caught mine in the rearview mirror, before he looked away, “The only explanation you'll get is this; there was something off about that man.”
“For Chrissakes,” I exclaimed with an eye roll, “That man was the most harmless and decent-looking man to approach me tonight!”
“Appearances can be deceptive,” Jack warned sagely as he started the car and drove out of the parking lot.
“Oh please,” I groaned, “Spare me that crap!” I looked out of the window and began to sulk. I'd been without the attention of a handsome man for long.
Liar! What about Jack? A voice in me asked.
I snorted and shut the voice up. I didn't think Jack was handsome. In fact, in this moment, he looked like a troll, or an ogre, whichever was worse. Maybe both.
My petty thoughts were interrupted by Lisa. She shifted close to me and whispered, “Why do you think Jack got you out of the club? Do you think that man was dangerous?”
“No,” I returned Lisa's whisper with one of my own, “Jack is the pettiest man, I know. He's just getting his revenge.”
“Getting his revenge?” Lisa cocked an eyebrow, “Girl, what exactly did you do to the man?”
I told Lisa about the escort I had hired for Jack, and how he'd sent the woman away.
Lisa burst into laughter, “Girl, you are evil.”
“What?” I joined in the laughter, “I wanted to find out if Jack's gay. And guess what, he probably is.”
“I don't think so,” Lisa disagreed, “I have a pretty gaydar, and it's not reading anything on Jack.”
I rolled my eyes and changed the subject, “Lisa, I'm not gonna let Jack win. I'm going back to that club.”
Lisa eyed me, “Do you find that stranger attractive?”
“Yes,” I nodded, “And I'd like to get to know him more. Moreover, this isn't about him. It's about letting Jack know that he can't control me.”
Lisa sighed with resignation, “Fine, I'll help you. Do you have a plan?”
I grinned eagerly and leaned closer to Lisa. I whispered my plan to her, and when I was done, I asked her, “What do you think?”
“I think your plan is crazy.” Lisa whispered, her eyes wide with shock.
“But it'll work.” I winked at her.
