Third person point of view.
Isabelle POV.
The school seemed quiet today, the hallways were creepy and every step I took felt like I was being watched. It felt like she was right behind me. She was looking at me, staring deep into my soul. I had no idea why I could feel her presence, she was somewhere near. I could feel her.
The school was large, it was overlaid with interlocking tiles, the fence were wired, the gates were painted in black, the walls in red and white, while the floors were in white. There was a garden situated in the school, the garden was large and spacious, there was a fountain right at the middle of the garden, a large model of a fish stood in the middle of the fountain with water springing out of its mouth.
The garden was beautiful and had different variety of flowers, mostly organic plants which were my favorite. Carpet grass was laid on the floor which made it so beautiful, there were seats all around the garden for students to hang out and three swings. There were two pairs of two person swings kept by the left.
I kept thinking about what I saw. Mom said I was hallucinating, but I don’t believe her, it can't be possible, I couldn’t sleep all night. I remember the words: “He’s coming.’. Who is coming? What does she mean by I'm the one chosen, those words kept replaying in my mind all night.
I arrived at my locker and opened it, it was weird no one was around the lockers. This was weird, I know I wasn't late to school I was early but not too early that I would be the only student. I took out my English note when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I took a turn to be met by her eyes, Lara stood in front of me and she kept quiet not saying a single word, she just kept looking at me.
"Please excuse me." I said to Lara but I couldn't move. I stayed still. Lara stood in front of me with a wide smile on her face. "Lara why can't I move?" I asked. But she didn't give me an answer, she just kept smiling and smiling.
"I can't move Lara." I said again but she didn't answer, she laughed loudly.
I looked up a little bit and I was met by her eyes again, it was like I could read them. Her eyes said a lot that I couldn't understand. When I stared at them for almost a minute, I felt Lara tensed up, she stepped back a bit and then she left.
I couldn't understand what just happened. Lara ran away from me? How’s that possible? She wasn't scared of anyone or anything.
I kept thinking about what happened. Was I hallucinating? Was it a dream? It can't be possible. I could still hear her demonic laughter when I couldn't move, it was like I could see that face, that smile, that laughter.
Later that day.
I was in class, waiting for our teacher to arrive. Students were playing and gossiping. Some were singing; the entire class was noisy. I was reading a poem to myself when Lara came in, she seemed different, something was wrong. Everything became quiet upon her arrival, and everyone stopped what they were doing? We remained silent until the teacher arrived. Ms Narwin was tall and slim, her hair reached her shoulders, it was beautifully arranged. She wore a pencil skirt, a black blouse and a white jacket. She also wore a smile that spread across her face.
Lara’s presence made us all forget to greet her until Ms. Narwin cleared her throat, grabbing our attention.
“Good morning, ma’am,” we said in unison.
“Good morning.” Ms. Narwin was about to speak when a student interrupted her.
“Ma’am, we’re supposed to have English, not History, History is later today Ma'am.”
She rolled her eyes before she spoke. “I know, Navel. I’m just here to pass some information regarding the assignment, I will be done before your teacher comes in. So the assignment I gave you, we’re doing it in groups.”
"Alright, I'm in Leah's group." Piper said.
"No! I will do the grouping." Ms. Narwin said.
A lot of students seemed happy because they won’t have to do the assignment alone. Then she brought out a bowl with chits in it. The bowl was big and transparent. The chits were many in the bowl.
“One by one, you will come and pick a card. All cards have a number. If you get the same number with another person, he or she becomes your partner and you have to do the project with the person, no exceptions okay,” she said.
“I will go first,” Lara said which made the whole class gasp, everyone turned to look at her.
She walked in front of the class and picked a card. “I got the number 23.” She said while looking at me.
Everyone exchanged nervous glances. No one wanted to get that number. Everyone that went to pick a card closed their eyes before opening it until my turn came. I put my hand in the bowl, praying I won’t get the same card as Lara. I took out my chit and opened it: Number 23.
“Ma’am, can I change my card? I don’t want that one, I don't want this card. Can you give me another one?”
Ms. Narwin took the card and said, “Sorry, but I can’t. You’re paired with Lara, I'm really sorry I wish I could do something, you just have to learn how to work with her” Ms. Narwin said to me.
The entire class gasped while Lara smiled. I don't want to do this project with her, what am I going to do? What is going to happen? I contemplated.
