Kenneth was still feeling sad about how his wife treated him the previous day when he got her something from his heart, after her visitor left early in the morning, she woke him up to clean up their room and the entire house before leaving for work.

While he did that, his father-in-law threatened to have him sleep outside if he didn’t clean the house properly and that after work, he should make himself invisible because he was entertaining really important visitors and didn’t want them to know that his family was related to Kenneth in any way.

Kenneth thought about all that happened the previous night and decided to finally reveal his real identity to his wife so that she can at least see him as a man enough to take care of her and her family. He wanted to tell her because he loved her so much and wanted them to be a real couple for once.

He came to work pretty late and went to report himself to his boss but he wasn’t allowed to see Mr. Keith because his secretary Amanda didn’t let him when he insisted on seeing the boss, Amanda went all mad at him.

“Don’t you understand that no one in this company cares about you or your welfare? No one cares if you get kidnapped today or die today, it will be a total relief that you’re out of the company’s hair for once” she said in a distasteful tone to him.

“But I want to tell Mr. Keith I came in late before someone fills him with bad information” he tried to explain to her but she hissed at him.

“I told you already, Mr. Keith or no one in this company cares about you, no one wants to be associated with a man that can’t even care for his wife at all. A man that is so broke that he had to take his wife's father’s name, a man that can’t properly take care of his wife and be man enough to have his own place. You live with your wife’s family and no one wants that kind of weak man” she eyed him then flicked her hair.

“Just go away, Mr. Keith doesn’t care if you come late or not, just don’t mess business for him or you’re toast, and guess what, you’re messing business for him by standing here saying you want to see him like you own the place”

She points to the stairs.

“Now, get away from here before I do something that you wouldn’t like,” she told him, hissed and went back to her work.

Kenneth was speechless by how she talked to him, he knew that most of his colleagues do not like him but it should not get to this extent. His boss treats him like trash also but he wanted to at least have a good record in the company.

When he met his dad, he told him that getting a good name is very important and he should never trade it for anything, so if she is hell-bent on letting some of his bad colleagues come here to spoil him for their boss, so he wasn’t leaving till he sees Mr. Keith.

“I don’t care what you say but I’m not leaving here till I see Mr. Keith, even if he doesn’t want to, I want to tell him by myself why I couldn’t make it on time,” he said then made his way to the office door.

Amanda jolts up from her chair and stood in front of him with her hands held out.

“I’m going to have security kick you out of here if you don’t leave now and that will be bye-bye to the job that gave you some respect as a working man”

“I’m going in there whe-”

He stopped what he was going to say when the door opened and he saw Cassandra coming out of the office in the hands of Mr. Keith. No one needed to tell him what was going one with how disheveled her hair was and how her lips were smeared with the same red lipstick that was smeared on Mr. Keith’s lips and cheeks.

“I’ll see you later” Cassandra said then turned to see Kenneth standing there with his mouth opened in surprise. “Oh, the fool later came” she rolled her eyes “I am hoping you cleaned the house properly because if it’s not cleaned like I wa-”

“What are you doing with Mr. Keith?” Kenneth interrupted her, still trying to process all that he is seeing now.

“You fool” Mr. Keith slapped the back of his head “Who are you to be asking questions like that? You’re not even worthy to be asking questions at all, considering how much of a low life you are” he yelled at Kenneth.

“Yes” Cassandra walks up to him while twirling her hair “You’re a low life and you don’t get to be asking questions you don’t deserve answers to. You can’t even get a proper job as a supervisor or a manger or something that will give you the respect you want and you suddenly want respect from people and me? You’re crazy to think that” she laughed at him along with Mr. Keith and Amanda.

Kenneth was beyond embarrassed by how he was being treated by his wife, boss and colleague. He was still trying to process that his wife has been cheating on him with is boss and now they treat him like trash.

“How could you do this to me Cassie even after all that I tried to do for you? I tried my best to be the best husband even though you and everyone else give me a hard time, I still manage to do anything, just to make you happy and now I come to find out that you’re cheating on me with my own boss?” Kenneth shook his head sadly and tried not to let the tears roll down his cheeks.

“Well, if you weren’t so miserable then I would have considered not doing this but what are you? Nothing but a loser, a low life who can’t amount to anything good in life. Like, you don’t have five hundred dollars to your name, how then do you expect me to give you any respect?” she yelled at him.

Kenneth could feel himself fume up and he looked deadly at Mr. Keith, he didn’t know what possessed him but he was already launching for his boss, Mr. Keith was able to dodge his attack and hit him on the back of his head before kneeling him on the face.

Kenneth fell down on the floor with blood oozing from his nose, he tried to stand up but his boss already kicked him on the stomach then he grabbed his hair.

“I warned you earlier but you wouldn’t listen, I hope now that you’ll listen now?” he punched him in the face and then pushed him on the floor with his leg.

“Baby, you don’t need to get dirty because of him. He already put me in a bad mood and I don’t want the rest of my day to be cursed by his miserable state” Cassandra held on to Mr. Keith who gave Kenneth a long, hard stare.

“You better be working when I come back or else, this job is done with you” he kicked him again then walked away with Cassandra in his arms.

Kenneth could barely feel his body due to the beating he got, he was in so much pain that he needed more time to get on his feet and head for his cab to start work. He thought about how badly he was treated, beaten, and tossed around for being known as the son of a poor man, he then start to wonder what everyone would do if he comes out to show them his real identity.

He imagined the respect he would get for just being rich and that put a smile on his face. “Park well dumb pie” the passenger hit the back of his head and threw his fare at him before getting out of the car.

Everyone will see who he is and he will get the respect he truly deserves.
