“THANK you, Ma'am!” Chiara's smile was wide when she accepted her first salary from the coffee shop where she was working as a part-timer.

She was a second-year Architecture student at St. Claire University. While studying, she applied to be a part-timer in the coffee shop near her university.

Even though she doesn't really need to work to support her studies because her aunt Isabel left her with enough money when she died, she still decided to work during her free time.

It had been two years since her aunt Isabel passed away from illness. Since then, Chiara had been alone in life.

She was only five years old when her parents separated. Her father left her and her mother and went with his other woman. After her father left her, her mother fell into depression. Then three years later, she died.

Chiara was left to her aunt Isabel who was her mother's sister. Aunt Isabel was the one who take care of her after her mother left.

Before Chiara finished high school, a Half Australian woman visit her and her aunt. She introduced herself as Carla Hemmings. The woman said she looked for her to inform her that her father already died.

That was when Chiara find out that she has a half-sister named Maddie. She was seven years older than her.

Carla and her daughter Maddie were the reason her father left them. But Chiara couldn't find herself getting mad at them. According to Carla, she didn't know that her father had another family in the Philippines. Her father only admitted it to Carla before he died of lung cancer.

Besides, Carla was a kind woman. When Aunt Isabel died two years ago, Carla and Maddie encouraged her to live with them in Australia. But then Chiara refused their offer. She couldn't leave Toby.

Toby was Chiara's boyfriend. They were together for almost four years now.

She was only first year of high school when she met Toby. They were good friends first before he became her boyfriend.
They were in their third year of high school when they officially became together.

After taking off her uniform, Chiara opened the brown envelope and counted her salary. She planned to use that money to buy a birthday gift for Toby.

After she put the envelope in her bag, she took out her cell phone and decided to call her boyfriend.

“Hi, babe,” she said, greeting him with a wide smile on her face.

Toby was studying engineering at a prestigious university in the metro. They both applied to that university but it was only Toby who got accepted.

Because their universities were far away from each other, they seldom saw each other. But despite their busy schedule, Chiara sees to it that she always has time for her boyfriend and their relationship.

She didn't want a repeat of what happened before.

“Chiara, can you just call later? I'm in the library right.” She heard his sigh.

“Oh, sorry, babe. I didn't know I'm disturbing you,” she answered. “What time are you going home?"

“Maybe later. I still have to finish my report,” he answered on the other line.

“Okay. Please, eat on time," she reminded him. “I love you...”

Before she could even hear his answer, the line was already cut off.

Chiara sighed. He was so busy he hadn't even managed to answer her I love you.

Chiara suddenly missed the time that they have a lot of time together. They always eat and go home together. They were always together every day. Those were the days. Everything changed when they entered college.

After leaving the coffee shop, she rode a jeepney. Her brows slightly furrowed as she couldn't help but glanced at the passenger beside her. He was a male student in their university based on his uniform. He was wearing an all-white uniform. Even his shoes were white.

From his uniform, her eyes travel to his face. She couldn't help but blink as she looked at his face. The guy in front of him looked like an angel.

He has soft facial features. Deep-set eyes, straight nose, red cherry lips. But the one that caught her attention more was his wavy hair. He was good-looking.

He looked like an angel who just descended from heaven.

But of course, Toby's still more handsome than him.

Shut up, Chiara. You're just biased, said a small part of her brain.

Fine. Chiara admitted that the guy beside her was even more handsome than her boyfriend.

Chiara blinked when the guy suddenly turned to her side. Their eyes met. His eyes were chocolate brown. It was the warmest shade of brown she’d ever seen in her life. He also had a pair of thick long lashes.

“Anyone else who's going to get off?"

Chiara's eyes widened when she heard the driver shout.

“Wait up,” Chiara said as she hurriedly got off the jeep. She then crossed off the footbridge to go to the mall on the other side of the street. But then her eyes widened when her bag suddenly got snatched. She was stupefied for a moment before she could manage to shout.

“Help! That man snatched my bag!”

Even before she could run to chase the man who snatched her bag, a guy in a white uniform already ran to chase him. It was the handsome guy in the jeep!

He was able to catch on the snatcher. Chiara's eyes widened when she saw the snatcher trip and fell on his knees. Then a couple of bystanders were able to circle around him to stop him from escaping.

Chiara ran towards the commotion.

“Miss," a deep male voice graced her ears.

She turned to the guy in a white uniform. She noticed that his hair got slightly disheveled from running.

Now that he was standing in front of her, she suddenly realized how tall he is. He was probably six feet tall. He was seriously even taller than Toby.

He held out a deep breath before he handed her her bag. "Your bag, Miss," he said, giving her a small smile.
