Once we arrived at the hostel, I grabbed my suitcase and mom helped me with the bags. Immediately as we approached the hostel warden I kept the suitcase beside me and was about to speak when mom spoke
"Good morning I’m Racheal Peter’s mom," she said while bringing her hand forward to shake him.

Mom is always like this, she has to make sure she introduces herself properly to everyone, she says the first impression is the best. Once the warden shook her hand he turned back and looked at me before he spoke "Are you new here?"

"Yes, my name is Racheal Peter," I said as I gave him a paper form "Can you please tell me where my room is located"
He held the paper and widened his eyes before turning back and looking at the person sited next to him, their facial reaction instantly changed immediately as they blinked their eyes
"Are you sure this belongs to you?"

"Yes, is there any problem?" I instantly asked
He was about to talk when a middle-aged lady walked toward them and grabbed the paper.
The lady is dark in complexion, she is fat and tall, her eyes are brown, dark brown lips, a broad-shaped nose, and her hair is styled into a short loss wave.

"Thomas what are you doing on my seat, how many times do I have to tell you not to rest your old buttocks on my chair" she yelled

"Oh so he isn’t the warden, no wonder he looked confused when you showed him the paper" Mom whispered

"Sorry about that, he isn’t the hostel warden, he has been working in this school for many years which made him begin to think he has earned the right to seat on any chair he wants" she yelled as she stared at him
"May I see your papers?" the lady asked immediately as she took a sit

"It’s in your hands"

"Ohh sorry about that, looks like Thomas confused me, anyways the room is on the second floor by the left, you will see the number written on the door"

"Okay thank you," I said immediately as I collect the paper.

I have been waiting for this day to come, I wanted to tell grandma about my college and the after-school job I applied for, I’m sure she will be proud of me as she also had an after-school job when she was in college. Grandma is diagnosed with a disorder neither can she talk nor she can walk around, she would have moved with us if she wasn’t under doctor's restrictions. Grandma and I are very much alike,

"Have you told grandma that you are staying in campus?" Mom asked

"Not yet, I’m gonna FaceTime her tonight"

Once we arrived at the room door, I opened the door and the first person I saw was a girl who creeped me out before I could say anything to the girl, the girl instantly walked out of the room.

"Hi," a voice said from behind
I turned back and glanced at a young lady.
She is fair in complexion, slim generic-shaped body, deep blue ocean eyes, and pink-colored heart-shaped lips.

"You are my roommate right?" she said as she walked closer to her

"Yeah, I’m Racheal"

Alice," she said as she entered the room

I entered the room and kept my bags on the bed, I brought out a framed picture and kept it on the side table. Finally, I’m going to have my space all to myself, no one Racheal comes to do this, and Racheal helps me clean up the dining table.
"Bye mom," I said as I gave her a hug

"You’re already saying goodbye, but anyways before I forget, here is a list of healthy mid-snacks"

"Seriously mom"

"I know you wanna stand up on your feet just like your grandma but you have to be healthy as well, I don’t wanna see you turn…."

"You guys remind me of my freshman year," Alice said

"Oh Alice this is what all mothers do but some children don’t seem to appreciate it," Mom said as she turned back and glared at me

I rolled my eyes before I spoke
"Oh lord, mom I will strictly follow your balance diet just please don’t make a big deal out of it,"

"Anyways I think it’s time I leave, take care of yourself," mom said as she hugged me "You too mom"

Mom was about to leave the room when she stopped at the door entrance "Alice, you’re in charge of Racheal make sure she eats healthy food and try to explain to her why I’m always telling her to stay away from older guys"

"Mom, please leave!"

"Is your mom always like this, I mean is she a nutritionist?" she laughed

"Yes she is"

Once mom left I arranged my stuff. I was supposed to resume a week ago but something came up and I couldn’t resume.
After arranging my stuff Alice showed me the way to the hostel cafeteria.
Alice is a senior student, she knew everything about the college, she wasn’t exactly living in the hostel as she has a friend that she stays with. Once I left the cafeteria and was back in the room, I FaceTime grandma.

Hi grandma" I instantly said immediately it connected
"How are you grandma, I have soo much to tell you but first, how do you like my new hairstyle, I had to change my hairstyle, enough of miss brown curly hair now I’m all blonde and black" I laughed

Grandma nicknamed me miss brown curly hair when I won the trophy of 'Miss junior school' I had been wanting to dye my hair but mom wouldn’t let me, it took me almost forever to convince mom.
"So how do you like it," I said as grandma smiled at me

"I knew you will love it, everyone loves it except for mom which isn’t a surprise, why is mom always like this?"
Grandma rang the bell indicating it as a response.

"Okay grandma, now let’s talk about something very exciting, you will be very happy and excited when I tell you this" I kept quiet for a moment as I stared at grandma whose facial reaction didn’t change
"I got admitted to a great school," I said excitedly but grandma still didn’t change her facial reaction, it looked like I was boring her.

"Okay, I will just tell you in detail, mom finally agreed on letting me live on campus and here’s the most interesting part of all, well it’s not exactly interesting but I know you will be happy, I applied for an after school job here in school campus"

I paused for a minute before I continued
"I got a nice hostel room with a great view. I guess the room number is… I can’t remember… wait a minute I just recalled it’s room twenty-one"

I kept talking for a long time as grandma kept ringing the bell, grandma was getting tensed as her facial reaction changed immediately after grandma processed what I said, she began to pant as she kept ringing the bell
"Grandma! Grandma are you okay? Where is your nurse, grandma hold on, are you okay?" I said before FaceTime started to disconnect

One of grandma’s disorders effects was that she takes a while before she understands what a person is saying, no matter how slow someone talks she needs a minute or two before she could understand.
"Grandma, grandma. Jeez it’s disconnected" I yelled

I was about to FaceTime her again when Alice spoke
"Hey, I’m going out will be back before sunrise"

"Where are you going?"

"I’m gonna attend a party and will spend the night there."

"Okay"

Alice walked to the door before she turned back and looked at me "Racheal, do not open the door when you hear a knock at 3:15"

"Why? is there anything problem"

"Somethings are better untold" She whispered

"What did you say?"

"Just don’t, okay, never open the door at 3:15 no matter what happens or what you hear do not open the door"

"Okay I will not open the door at 3:15," I said before Alice stepped out of the room.

I was a bit confused when she said that, I just had to tell her what she needed to hear. I felt weird, why will Alice tell me not to open the door at 3:15? What happens if I open the door? Is this some kind of prank or what?
