“T-thank you.” Irani was so used to Red's teasing that she didn’t know how to handle this side of him.
Maybe you won't be able to handle it if I become sweet to you…
God. He was right. Irani said to herself after remembering Red's words.
She looked at the flowers in front of her. Pink is her favorite color.
She still couldn't believe all of this. She felt like she was in a parallel universe.
Then she noticed the bouquet of roses on the backseat.
“That one’s for your mother," Red answered, smiling down at her.
“Really?” she asked, her brows furrowed in half amusement and half confusion. "But we have a deal, right? I already told you I don't want anyone to know about this."
Red turned to her. “Well, you wanted to know that I'm really serious with you, right? Then I wanted to prove it by talking to your parents."
Irani remained looking at Red's face. He was really serious.
“Wait… Wait… are you really sure? You're going to face my parents?"
She already cleared her mother that nothing was going on between her and Red. And now this?
“They say the best way to a woman’s heart is through her parents,” Red answered with an easy smile.
Irani pursed her lips to stop herself from smiling. “And where did you learn that, huh?” she asked, amused.
He just winked at her.
“By the way, Red. Before you face my father, you need to prepare your resume and your recommendation letter first."
“What?” he turned to her, looking shocked. “Resume? Recommendation letter? Are you serious?”
“Yup. That's what he said to me if I ever brought a guy home," she said nonchalantly.
She saw how Red took a gulp. Was he nervous? She bit her lower lip to stop herself from giggling. It was the first time she saw him that way.
“Uh, what do I need to put on my resume?" Red asked her in a careful tone. "Do I need to wear long sleeve polo and slacks?”
This time, Irani could no longer stop her chuckles. “I’m just joking, Red. You're too nervous.”
She saw how his jaw dropped in disbelief. “You…” he said, shaking his head. “Just be thankful I'm in love with you."
This time, it was Irani's jaw that just got dropped on the floor.
LET's date later...
Irani was with Cashmere at the cafeteria when she received a text message from Red.
Where? She typed and sent back.
Secret :)
Irani pursed her lips as she read his text.
Fine. I won't say yes until you tell me where we're going.
Fine. SEX.
Irani almost choked on her chocolate drink.
"Irani, are you okay?" Cash asked her.
Irani nodded at her best friend before she dabbed tissue on her lips.
'Sweet Express ;) I'm clarifying in case you started to think of something dirty.
"Who are you texting, Irani?" Cash asked her in a curious tone.
“Huh? Nothing. It's just my mother. She was asking me to go with her later.”
She felt guilty for lying to her best friend. She couldn't believe she managed to lie to Cashmere about Red. But then she knew her best friend was occupied with Grey.
Please, watch my game later :), came another text from Red.
I won't. Why would I watch your game when you already have many girls cheering for you.
Irani pursed her lips when she remembered Red's fangirls.
You're the only girl I want to see cheering for me later.
Irani bit her lower lip to stop herself from smiling.
I'll try. Now stop texting. I’m eating here with Cashmere.
Eat well, baby.
Irani's lips parted with Red's last text message.
Baby? For the second time, she almost choked on her drink.
"Is it really your mother you're texting, Irani? Why are you blushing then?" Cashmere asked.
Irani touched her cheek. “I'm not blushing, Cash," she denied. She then cleared her throat. "Uh, let's watch the team's basketball later?" Irani asked when they were on their way to their classroom.
Cashmere frowned at her. "Don't tell me, after Drei rejected you, you're still going to cheer for him?"
Irani blinked. She suddenly remembered that Drei was also a member of the varsity team. She had totally forgotten it because the past few days, she was occupied with Red. It had only been a week since he rejected her but it felt like that happened a long time ago.
She looked at her best friend. If only she knew that Drei wasn't the reason why she'd be watching later.
“Well, I’ve moved on now," Irani said. "Maybe what I felt for him wasn't really that deep."
They went to the gym after class. The game was just about to start when they got there. Drei was included in the first starting players. She looked at him.
He was still the same. Nothing has changed in him. The only thing that changed was her feelings for him. While looking at him now, her heart was no longer hurting. Maybe what she felt for him wasn't really that deep like what she said to Cashmere.
From Drei, her eyes went to Red. He was playing as the forward of the team. Even in black jeans or his basketball jersey, he still looked good.
She was already aware before that Red was good-looking, but now she couldn't deny that Red had become more handsome in her eyes.
Drei passed the ball to Red. And instead of Red passing the ball to Blue who was free on the three-point shot arc, he went straight to the ring and went for a layup.
“There goes Red again," Cashmere said beside her, shaking her head. "Always want to be the star."
Irani bit her lower lip to stifle a smile.
Red was really good. That was the first time she fully noticed Red while on the court.
Red turned to her and winked. Irani's eyes widened with what he did. She then turned to Cash who was busy with her cellphone.
Irani couldn't help but stand up from her seat when a collision happened in the middle of the game. Red got pushed by a player from the other team.
"Oh, shit," Cash said beside her. "What happened to Red?"
