“Something came up. I left my phone. I searched the whole mall to find you.”
Chastity examined his face. That's why he was breathless and his hair was a bit disheveled.
Indigo moved his gaze to the tickers she was clutching in her hand. “Come on. Let's go and watch this. I'd buy new tickets."
Chastity swallowed. “Uh, the last full show already started an hour ago, Indigo."
“Then just give me your phone.”
She handed him her cell phone.
“Passcode?” he asked.
“My birthday.” Before Chastity could say her birthday, Indigo already opened her cellphone.
He still remembered her birthday. Chastity felt like something warm covered her heart.
“Let's go.” He smiled at her before grabbing her hand.
Chastity's lips parted. She couldn't help but stare at Indigo. It was the first time Indigo smiled at her after they broke up. She felt like crying.
“W-where are you going?” she asked, stammering.
“There's a midnight screening of Fantastic Beasts in Starmall Cinemas,” Indigo said, showing him her cell phone screen.
Indigo never let go of her hand until they reached his car. They both slid inside and Indigo drove to the nearest Starmall Cinema.
“Two Pepsi and a bucket of popcorn.” Pagkatapos bumili ng ticket at bumili rin ito ng snack at drinks.
“Sir, what flavor?" the store staff asked Indigo when he pulled her to the popcorn stall after buying their tickets.
“Barbecue.”
He remembered. Indigo still remembered how Chas preferred barbecue flavor over cheese when it comes to popcorn, and how he preferred Pepsi over Coke.
It was only little things but it meant a lot to her.
“Ugh, Newt's pets are all so cute and fluffy.” Chastity couldn't help but gush as she watched the movie on the big screen.
She turned to Indigo beside her. His attention was all on the screen. But then Chastity didn't fail to notice the small smile on his lips.
"Chas, you okay?" he asked, suddenly turning to her.
Chastity pursed her lips and nodded. She then smiled but her gaze went back to the screen.
This felt like a dream. She felt like they were suddenly back in the past. When everything was still okay between them.
It was already past two in the morning when they left the movie house.
"I hope you enjoyed the movie," Chastity said as they reached his car.
Indigo turned to her after putting on his seat belt. "I did, Chas," he answered, giving her a small smile.
Chastity bit her lower lip. She still couldn't believe that he was now smiling again at her.
She pursed her lips and smiled at him. “Indigo…Can we go on a road trip after this?"
Go on a road trip with him.
That's one of the things she wanted to do with Indigo. She didn't know if Indigo still remembered that.
She noticed that Indigo stilled. Then he turned to her with slightly furrowed brows.
"Aren't you sleepy yet?" he asked her.
She shook her head. “I don’t want to go home yet." She bit her lower lip. "Uh, but if it's not okay with you…"
Indigo nodded, smiling. “Alright. Let’s go on a road trip.”
They went south. While on the road, Chastity opened the window on her side. She closed her eyes when the cold wind touched her face.
Indigo opened the stereo of his car.
And I need you. And I miss you. And I wonder...
Chastity stilled when she heard a familiar song playing on the stereo. It was the song Indigo was singing when she first saw him.
If I could fall into the sky. Do you think time would pass us by?
Indigo cleared her throat and glanced at her side .“Chas, how's Percy?”
Chastity took a deep breath and bit her lower lip. “He already died, Indigo."
She didn't expect it when he suddenly stopped at the side.
“W-what happened?” he asked, his lips parted.
“He was hit by a car.” She said in a small voice. Chastity felt the corner of her eyes heat up upon remembering how her dog died.
It was the day she found out she was sick. She was absentmindedly walking on the road together with Percy when she didn't notice an SUV coming her way. It was her who was supposed to get hit. But Percy saved her.
“I... I'm sorry, Chas.” Indigo let go of the steering wheel and held her hand.
Tears welled up in her eyes when he saw Indigo's face. He looked sorrowful.
“It’s okay, Indigo,” Chastity said, giving him a small smile. "I've moved on from his death. Let's just not talk about him, please? I know… he's already in a better place."
Indigo swallowed before he nodded.
An hour later, they reached Tagaytay.
“Do you want coffee?” Indigo asked her. They stopped at a famous 24/7 coffee shop.
"Sure. Caramel latte for me."
While waiting for Indigo who went to the counter, Chastity went to the veranda of the coffee shop. She held her hand on the railing as she inhaled the fresh and cold wind of the place.
She didn't know how long she was in that position when Indigo came back.
“Here’s your coffee.”
She turned to him and smiled. “Thank you, Indigo.”
She accepted the cup of hot coffee from him. She placed it near her nose and inhaled the aroma of it.
They were both silent as they sipped on their coffee.
But for Chastity, it was a comfortable silence. She couldn't hide the happiness hovering in her heart at that exact moment.
A few moments later, it was Chastity who broke the silence. “Indigo… do you want to go home already?"
Indigo turned to her. “Let’s wait for the sunrise first. It was already past four anyway. We'll only be waiting for an hour more."
Watch the sunrise with him…
Did she remember the list she wrote in her notebook that day?
Chastity smiled and nodded at him. After more than an hour of waiting, they already witnessed the sunrise.
"It was beautiful…" Chastity muttered, in awe.
