“OH my shiz!” Cashmere's eyes widened when she saw the time on the alarm clock on her nightstand. It was already seven in the morning.
Cashmere gasped. “Shiz. I'm gonna be late for school.”
Cashmere's class starts at eight in the morning. She was a freshman student at Montello University, taking up English Literature.
She immediately got up from the bed. But before she could finally stand up, Cashmere suddenly realized it was Saturday. She has no classes on Saturdays.
“Darn… why am I so dumb sometimes,” she couldn't help but whisper to herself before lying on the bed again. She grabbed a pillow and hugged it as she closed her eyes.
She planned to go back to sleep again, but then she groaned when her stomach grumbled.
This time around, I was forced to leave my bed because of hunger. Well, Cashmere couldn't survive the day without eating breakfast. For her, food is life.
She was already on the staircase when she crossed paths with her brother Blue. His name was Azul so goes by the nickname Blue. He was older than her by two years. Her brother was studying Mechanical Engineering. He was already in his third year.
Both of them attend the same university.
“Good morning, brother,” Cashmere greeted him.
“Good morning, Sis,” Blue answered.
Cashmere noticed how her brother winced while looking at her from head to toe.
"You didn't even fix your hair before getting out of your room, Cash," he commented.
Cashmere just simply pursed her lips while one of her hands went to her stomach.
“I'm already starving, Blue.” She suddenly remembered that she failed to eat dinner last night. She immediately fell asleep after his back hit the bed. She was too tired from their exam yesterday.
Cashmere walked past her brother and went straight to the dining area. She saw their family's cook, Manang Prising.
She gave the old woman a gentle smile. “Good morning, Manang—”
Cashmere's words were stopped mid-air when she noticed the three guys at their dining table.
Her brother's bandmates were here!
Cashmere's eyes widened and immediately tried to hide behind the old woman. But it was too late. The three guys at the table already noticed her.
The first one to look at her was her cousin Red, then Indigo followed. The last one who snapped his head in her direction was Grey.
"Hi, Cashmere."
“Good morning, Cash!”
Cashmere's heart hammered inside her chest when she heard Grey's familiar voice.
Grey then smiled at her, which made her insides melt.
Cashmere felt like everything around her stopped. Her surroundings blurred. In an instant, all she could see right now was Grey.
His straight nose, deep and soulful eyes, perfect jaw, naturally red and plump lips, and the sweet smile plastered on it.
“Cash, next time fix yourself first before going down. Your hair's like a bird's nest, cousin," Red commented, an amused smile on his annoying face as he looked at her.
Cash felt her cheeks heat up with Red's comment. Her whole face reddened when she realized Grey also saw her at this look!
Oh, my shiz!
"Uh, excuse me," she muttered before immediately leaving the dining area. She hurriedly ran to the stairs to go back to her room.
"Blue, why didn't you tell me that your bandmates are here?" she asked her brother when they crossed paths in the hallway.
Blue simply shrugged his shoulders. "Well, you didn't ask."
Cashmere bit her lower lip and walked past her brother. She slammed the door of her room and rested his back on it.
"Ugh, you're so dumb, Cashmere," she whispered to herself while leaning against the door. "You faced your brother's bandmates without even fixing yourself first. You haven't even brushed your teeth or at least combed your hair."
She then closed her eyes in shame.
"I shouldn't have let my hunger get the best of me."
Cashmere took a deep breath before facing the full-size mirror in her room.
Her eyes widened when she saw her reflection. Red was right. Her hair looked like a freaking bird's nest. Not only that. Her eyes were puffy, her face oily and she even had sleep dust on the corner of her eyes! She looked horrible.
“Grey...” she muttered, panic crippling her system. “I can't believe Grey had seen me like this. Shucks!”
How could she face him again after he saw him looking like a horrible mess?
"I don't have the nerve to face him anymore. Oh, God. This is so embarrassing!"
Grey Buenavista was Cashmere's ultimate crush. The very first time that Cashmere saw Grey, she immediately developed a crush on his brother's schoolmate who later turned into his bandmate.
It's been more than a year since their first meeting, but Cashmere could still remember everything about it.
“Blue, where are you?” Cash frowned while talking to her brother Blue on the phone. "I've been waiting here for almost an hour now."
Cashmere had been waiting for her brother at their school gate for almost an hour now. He promised her earlier that he'd fetch him at school since their personal driver got sick and failed to go to work.
Cash was already in her fourth year of high school while her brother Blue was already in his first year in college.
“I'm sorry, Sis. Something came up...” Blue answered on the other line.
Cashmere sighed. "It's okay. I'll just take a cab then."
"No, Cash. I'll just ask Red to fetch you. Wait for him there."
Cashmere pursed her lips. "Fine. I'll wait here. Tell him to make it faster. I'm already hungry."
Red was Cashmere and Blue's cousin on their mother's side. He was the same age as Blue. He was also Blue's best friend.
Twenty minutes had passed but still, she didn't see any sign of Red's car. Cashmere's phone rang. She answered it.
“Blue? Where's Red?" Cashmere asked impatience evident in her tone.
“Cashmere?”
Cashmere's lips parted when she heard an unfamiliar voice on the other line. She was sure it wasn't her brother!
"Who are you? Where's Blue?" she asked, brows furrowed.
