"Found something yet?" I looked up from reading the newspaper in my hand to look at Bam then shook my head and bow my head back to continue looking through.
There has to be some... hmm, this looks interesting.
"I think I have found one," we said at the same time then our heads raised to look at each other.
"You first," Bam said and I stood up from sitting on my newly purchased bean chair to sit beside her on my bed so that I could show her what I found out now.
"Anyone looking into learning any skill of their choice and if you aren't sure of what you want to actually do, you can enroll and we would assess you and try to understand what works for you" she read out loud and I nod my head then raised both of my brows in askance.
"So?" I asked when she didn't say anything.
"I think it's a perfect match for your kind of person," she said then tapped her chin in thought. "You don't need to look at me like I am telling a lie about you and do your research to make sure that it is legit" she added and I nod my head again.
"It's nice to hear your insight about it though," I told her and she grinned then pats my head before standing on her feet to stretch.
"Now that we have you sorted, this needs to be sorted" she pointed to her stomach and I was definitely expecting her to say it earlier.
"Expected that from you earlier" I voiced out my thoughts and she stuck her tongue out at me.
"Not allowing anyone to know my next move, peace girl" she did the peace sign and walked out of my room while I folded the newspapers and placed them on my bedside table then followed behind her.
It's another Saturday and my parents went out on one of their many dates so I and this crazy girl are home alone.
She is yet to tell me how she feels about her parents coming back to stay for good... I hope and although she did tell me that they had the talk but didn't give details.
I am not going to pressure her into telling me if she doesn't want to, she was upset as she told me how long the talk went and I am so sure it isn't the talk that made her that upset.
There are things that can get past Bam and it definitely wouldn't be how long a person talks... she can zone out three seconds after a person she is less interested to hear starts talking.
Simple girl, no worries.
I am worried about her but I will definitely be here when she needs someone to rant to.
"What to eat now?" she asked as she went through the opened fridge.
"Don't ask me, you are the one standing before the fridge" I told her and she turned to glare at me.
"Fine, what is available in there?" I asked, coming to stand beside her as she went back to looking into the fridge.
"Bread?" she asked and I didn't respond so she brought out a loaf of bread and placed it on the table then went back to look for what we can eat with it.
Soon, we settled on bread and eggs with peanut butter.
"You are making the eggs since you are the hungry one," I told her and she glared at me as I went to sit on one of the kitchen stools.
"No, I can't" she came to sit on the second chair beside me and faced me.
"Why?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Because you are" she answered.
"Why?" I inquired again.
"Remember when you told me that you wonder what you could do to thank me for being your best friend forever?" she asked and I wasn't even given time to think of when I said such to her when she spoke again.
"Well, now is one of those times... go prepare those eggs for us like the good friend you are" she winked and grabbed an apple from the basket then took a bite.
I stood up and rolled my eyes at how she went all the way to get me to prepare those eggs.
"You didn't need to do that, saying 'please can you prepare those eggs?' wouldn't hurt a bit," I told her and went on to prepare those eggs.
I am starving also so I better just do it for both of us.
"Please there shouldn't be so much pepper in there," she said after a moment and I shook my head at her.
This girl is something else but I love her this way.
Soon after, I was done with the eggs and placed them on a plate for us both to share.
"This egg smells divine" she inhaled then brought two forks for us to start eating.
"Thank you, hold up" I held back her fork before she started eating the eggs then brought the bread and peanut butter in front of us and said a quick prayer.
I don't always remember to say one but when I remember, I make sure to say one. It is important to say a prayer here and there. GOD bless us.
"Amen," we said together and began eating the food.
"This is so good, I give you a B+" Bam said then took a spoonful of peanut butter in her mouth and chew with a light sound of satisfaction leaving her mouth.
"Why B+?" I asked then put ate one slice of bread.
"It's better than nothing" she replied and I glared at her.
"So, you were going to score me nothing after making me prepare us food?" I asked with a shake of my head and she drank water and then flashed me a grin.
"You are my girl so whether I score you nothing or half, you still tried your best" she pats my head and I swat her hand away.
"Yeah, whatever" we continued eating and when we were done, we washed the plates and went to the living room to watch a movie.
"Do we have assignments that need to be submitted on Monday?" I asked her when we began the movie.
"I doubt but we can check after this episode or all the seasons" Bam shrugged and increased the volume a bit.
"Okay"
"So, are you going t check the stuff we found out earlier?"
"Yeah, I guess... I just need to find a purpose and stick to just one thing so that I can get myself back on track" I told her and heard her sigh before she took my hand in hers and pinched the back of my hand.
"Ow, what was that for?" I asked and tried to take my hand from her hold but she didn't let go.
"Advice time so be serious" she began and I paused the movie and faced her while she did the same.
"I am all ears"
"I think that the problem is not about you not being able to focus on just one skill or that you cant find your talent or what you are good at, I feel like its because you don't believe that you can do anything without having a skill or something doing" she stated and I raised an eyebrow.
"Put that brow down before I shave it" she twisted her lips and rolled her eyes at me.
"Oh, sorry madam... why do you think that?" I asked.
"Do you believe in yourself?" she asked me and I was caught off guard by her question.
Do I believe in myself? Do I believe I could be anything with my skills or talents when I find out what it is? Yes, I believe in my skills and what those skills can make me do.
"Yes, I believe that with my skills in hand, I can do anything and be anything I want... those other skills didn't work out but I will find my niche," I told her and she smiled.
"I don't really understand this but here is what I can say... you need to believe in Andrea to be able to do what Andrea can do" she states and I frowned.
"I believe in myself"
"Yeah right, your skills don't actually make you but they are just added attributes to you because you will need them at some stages in your life. I know you believe in yourself but don't just believe in what you can do because of whatever skills you learn...
"Rather, believe in yourself whether or not you have that skill or talent because if you don't, you will be left wanting for more when you suddenly lose interest like you are now," she said and I frowned.
"I am not trying to offend you but I want you to find your path but I don't want you to be dependent on a skill or what it can make you be but in yourself, I believe in you Monalisa, so much" she rests her cheek on the back of my hand and I looked down.
I didn't even have the time to get angry that she called me by my least favorite name but I guess that she may be right.
These are one of the moments that she is being really serious and using her brains so I better get the best of it.
"Thank you so much, I will think about what you said and try to find my path and learn to love it" I hugged her and she chuckled, giving the hug back.
"I am glad that my word of wisdom went through this thick head" she flicked the side of my head and I bite her shoulder a bit hard then leaned away from the hug.
"You are annoying" she folds her arms and pouts.
"Sorry lady, I wanted to ask something though but you don't have to tell me if you don't want to," I said and she looked at me with sad eyes.
I guess she knows what I want to ask about.
"Are you and Filet good? You know since when your parents came back home and how moody and distant you felt during that time, is everything good?" I took her hand in mine and felt her hands shaking as a tear slipped out of her eye.
"My parents are getting divorced"
