Ch. 86Chapter 86

The Cabrera couple was surprised at first but they accepted and supported me for their daughter later on. In fact, they were the ones I talked to about this marriage proposal tonight which I really hope I could pull off successfully.
I faintly smiled when I remembered their thrilled expressions.
I get along pretty well with Alison’s little brother, too. The latter was Alison’s male version. Jasper was as jolly as his girlfriend. Jeremiah was another story, though. I had always noticed about the man’s special feelings towards Alison. I just don’t understand why he never tried confessing before but I admired him. Jeremiah had always been an upright and sensible mortal. I could feel that he was sincerely happy for me and Alison.
My smile widened when I saw longing in her eyes. And I felt the same. We didn’t get to see each other for almost a month. I didn’t want her to see me in a bad condition.
Even when Alison returned to the country two days ago, I wasn’t able to see her. She came to Manila to attend her mother’s birthday celebration. I only started feeling better today.
The recent spell I created took away most of my energy. Nathan tried to nag me many times about the risks of going out tonight thinking that my wounds might open if I would keep on moving. But I missed Alison so badly that Nathan’s barricade spell wasn’t able to stop me from coming. In the end, he had no choice but to accompany me.
I shook my head upon the thought. My cousin was a lot worse than Theron. He nags way too much. It was a good thing that Nathan would soon go back to our realm.
The power which my family and relatives gave to him, I gave them to Nathan. He deserved them more than I did. Right now, I only had one dragon left on my wrist.
Nathan needed a little more time to get used with all the dragon marks so he would be able to control them. Arameth needs him more than me. All I could do here was to keep the humans safe from the supernaturals.
It had been six months since Theron died. If I propose to Alison, I know he wouldn’t take it against me. I think it will even make him happy. Majority of the happiness that I felt was because of the old man. It seemed like he already knew he would die soon that’s why he made sure that I wouldn’t spend the rest of my life alone.
Until the end, he remained like a true father to me. And I promised to always choose happiness no matter what happens as my way of paying Theron back for everything.
It was hard to be happy knowing my family and relatives’ situation in Arameth. But for the first time in my life, I wanted to try living. I had served the Armethians for the past seventy-five years of my life. Now that I had already surrendered my powers, I only have a couple of years left. That’s why this time around, I wanted to try serving the only woman my heart had ever loved.
When I saw how Alison cried while I play the piano, I froze.
After all that happened to me, it was hard not to keep believing in her God and in His plans. Because as the lyrics of a song goes, everything that took place in my life was all a part of His grander plan for me.
Even my heartbreaks led me to Alison. I also heard from Nathan that Clavia had gotten married a long time ago. I used to think that Clavia, my ex-fiancée, was the one for me. She was like a gift wrapped in this fancy box with my name on it. But it turned out that she was a gift meant for someone else.
But this time, I’m certain that Alison was the one God wanted for me. I didn’t have to wonder anymore. With God as our center, I was sure that things would not go wrong this time.
Alison’s love was a blessing and a miracle for me. Her love for me was so big and so deep that it managed to understand me long before I sought for understanding. Her love overlooked my flaws and just focused on what it deemed important: our present and our love.
She loved the parts of me that I thought no one could love.
Alison was able to see the beauty in the ugliest side of myself. She was that amazing.
“Xandros…” Alison whispered as she walked towards me. “I miss you. I love you. And yes, I’ll marry you.”
My jaw dropped. “You knew?”

(Alison)
DESPITE the tears falling down my cheeks, I still couldn’t help but smile when I remembered Alexandros’ failed proposal attempts when we were still in Japan. He handed me a book from my favorite international writer on my first day of work there.
But because I had been too busy, I was able to read the book just recently, when I had been missing Alexandros so much. That was only the time when I saw a note hidden in the middle of the book.
There was also a time when he gave me a cup of coffee using a new mug with our picture as the main design. Because I was tired, I wasn’t able to finish the coffee. But while I was cleaning last week, I noticed the mug in the cup container. That was when I noticed the message written on the base of the mug.
Alexandros also gave me an umbrella which I wasn’t able to use until yesterday when it rained. I used it when my parents picked me up from the airport that’s why even mom was surprised when they saw a note written on the umbrella.
All those stuffs he gave me had a Will You Marry Me note.
