Ch. 80Chapter 80

“We know that we have no right to ask for that. Our families also do not want you to do that. We are not as brazen as you think, Alex. Your parents and mine too are more than willing to pay for their crimes, you know that. We only came here because we wanted to make a difference. We wanted to put an end to the wars. You once said that you saw the names of our parents on the list of the people who were fated to be reborn again. Our grandparents, your parents, and my father are already facing the consequences of their actions, Alex. And they are ready to face death and reincarnation as their major punishment. But they wished to clean the government first from its tyrant King and Council members. That was also your soldiers’ reason for coming here with me. We believed that just like before, you could create a change in Arameth and its people.
“Almost a year ago, the snow had stopped falling in the entire kingdom that’s why it was easier for the people there to feel weak. They often get sick nowadays. Theron knew that but based on your expression, it was clear that he hid it from you. Maybe he thought the Armethians deserve it anyway. And he was probably right. But as the bringer of the troubles in our realm, it is still our responsibility to help them. We have this feeling that once you return, things might change.”
“What the heck are you talking about?”
“We believe that the ancestors had gone mad and they were punishing all of us that’s why all these are happening. But maybe you could help bring back the balance. You have sacrificed so much for the welfare of the citizens in the past. There was no Official who could care as genuinely and as passionately for the Armethian people other than you.”
“No, we all can make a difference. And we can begin tonight even if we are not in the Arameth,” I told him. My expression hardened when I sensed something strange in the air. All of a sudden, the atmosphere was both hot and cold. There was something in the air because every time the wind would blow, our skin would sting.
Only the supernatural beings could do this, especially the Armethians who was always fond of having a grand entrance. They always wanted their presence to be known. The ancestor once told me that I was destined to teach my countrymen a very special lesson. I didn’t know what the hell was that and for the past years, I did not care to try to figure that out. I was already too drained to think about those damned lessons which my damned ancestors wanted me to teach. Heck, those people could all rise from the dead and just teach those fucking lessons by themselves!
But tonight, I do feel tempted to teach these brats something. I wanted the Armethians to rediscover why I once became their king. “We are going to make a hell of a difference right now, right here.”
We were in the garden when we heard people screaming, one thing that I don’t want to hear again as much as possible. It reminded me of the helplessness and devastation that I felt back when I was the reason for those screams. I quickly passed Theron’s body to one of my soldiers. “Make sure to take care of him. Whatever happens, do not ever leave Theron’s body behind. That is an order,” I told him.
“As you wished, Your Majesty.”
I did not reply. I just clenched my hands and went out of the gate. Tonight, all hell would break loose.

MY JAW CLENCHED when I saw thousands of Armethians soldiers a few meters away from me. I don’t know where in the world they got the courage to still flaunt their goddamn uniforms and badges while committing these atrocious deeds. Now it was clear to me that the Government itself wanted me to die. And right now, they were taunting me by using the mortals.
Now that I made it alive for eight years, the Council must have regretted sending me to the mortal world instead of killing me when they had the chance. They must have thought that just like the other Armethians who were thrown in this world, I would also lose my power gradually. I stared at the Government’s minions one by one when they stopped right on their tracks the second they saw me.
Their eyes turned murderous as they looked at me. I could still remember their faces so well. How could I not when majority of them used to be my students?
When I was still in the army, I was the one who trained these soldiers who surrounded me right away. I never thought that they would use the fighting techniques I taught them to the humans who could not even fend themselves. I also never thought that the soldiers whom I saved, the ones whom I risked my life for whenever there were battles in the past, would be the same people who would assassinate me and would not even think twice about it.
My chest tightened when I heard how the wounded humans plead for their lives. Even the children were not spared. It was funny how every Armethian was trying to seek justice by trying to kill me, when they all became like me in the end. There was blood in my hands, but so was every Armethian in our realm. They were no different from me.
I called one of my subordinates. “Juno, take the humans away as quickly as possible.”
If only I was not feeling weak, I would have surrounded the entire village with a protection spell to ensure the humans’ safety. But because of my current condition, the arrows that the soldiers were using could easily penetrate the protection spell that I would create.
