Chapter 15 Adopting five children
After a night of thinking, Phoebe looked bored at the money and gems in front of her eyes with no real interest at all. But her mother left her because of her, she couldn't let go of this money and then died.
Phoebe dropped out of school so she didn't need to go to school anymore, at night she walked on the empty and boring street, according to her habit, before going out, she used to put on makeup and dress to resemble a human.
This street is not only empty of cold pigs but also very poor, it can be said that this is a slum located close to the big city. This place is mainly for Vampires there are very few humans living in this place.
Phoebe sighed, although her mother once said that when she found out she was a vampire she was happy, Phoebe always knew that her mother wanted her to be a human. If she were a human, she would be happier and not be looked down upon by her peers, and would never have to live a tired life and hide her true self.
Phoebe walked through a small and dirty alley, and that alley gave off a stench, she was curious, so she entered. In the dim street light, there was a boy about five or six years old holding a long piece of glass and threatening Phoebe to give him money. Phoebe was taken aback by the actions of a child, the boy in front of her was a vampire in that he was ragged and dirty, the blackness of dirt concealing the characteristic white skin of a vampire.
Phoebe was not angry, but slowly took out a few changes and gave them to the child in front of her, then she saw that there were other children still hiding in the trash can peeking out and peeking at her. There was three vampire child and two human children, she thought that if they were vampires, there was a high chance that their parents were taken away or dead by humans, and if they were human, they were probably abandoned.
Phoebe pitying the fate of these children, gently asked:
“Do you guys want to go home with me?”
Hearing Phoebe's question, those children were bewildered and afraid that she was the bad guy, seeing how they were wary made her awkward, to prove that she had no bad intentions, Phoebe wiped the makeup on. face, removing contact lenses, she said:
“You're a vampire, right? I'm the same so I won't harm my fellow humans nor will I harm humans."
A very brave five-year-old boy stood up to talk to her, looking at him trembling but still trying to block the rest of the children, he said:
“How can I trust you? Whether you're a Vampire or a human, if you're the bad guy, you can't be trusted either way!"
This child must have gone through many difficulties and deceptions, so he became so wary of strangers. Phoebe thought that no matter how much she told them the truth, precaution was like a child's fortification wall to keep them out.
So Phoebe came up with a way.
“Okay, you guys don't think I'm a good person, but I have money I can feed you, give you a warm place to sleep and a house. If you guys will go with me, there's no need to worry about eating and drinking."
“Do you… do you say really?” – The children timidly asked.
The poor children have been deceived by many bad guys, but their stubbornness and precaution have kept them alive until now, but unfortunately, they have no money and can only rob others at night.
When they heard Phoebe talk about not having to worry about food, they were very excited and looked forward to it, through the eyes of the children in front of Phoebe, they could tell their earnestness.
"I'm not fooling you, we all have lost our loved ones by our side and have to live like this, you want to go home with me."
"We still don't believe you, prove it."
Phoebe sighed, finally proving to the kids by biting her finger until it bled and holding up three bloody fingers to promise:
“I am Phoebe, I want to adopt these children, if I harm them they will die, I swear!”
The Vampire boy looked at Phoebe in horror, crying when he heard her swear.
Human children wouldn't understand what that oath meant and if it was necessary to do so, but for Vampires it was different from a promise or oath that was not casually said, if it was said without done will be cursed and painful to death.
In the end, those children believed her because they had no other choice, all of them had been without food for several days. One of their friends also passed away because they were so hungry, they could only mourn and cry and could not do anything else.
Phoebe brought them home, there was still a lot of food in the house, which she divided among the children.
“These are all freshly purchased foods, not stale and I don't poison you, hurry up… eat slowly, don't choke now.”
Her three vampire children all gave them her blood mixed with food to make sure they weren't hungry. After hunger no longer tormented them, the children trusted Phoebe.
Looking at the five miserable children in front of them eating like they were starving, they didn't even need a spoon to eat directly with their hands. Phoebe feels very lucky because she has never had to go hungry, she has a mother who loves her so that she can go to school even though people still despise and hate her. Only then did Phoebe remember the letter her mother had written in a wooden box: "Be happy and bring happiness to others."
Because of that, she wanted to take all of them, there were a total of five children, three of them were vampires, and the other two were human, they were all very good children, but to have food and a place to sleep, so they had to become wary and rogue like this.
The special thing was that the three Vampire children did not discriminate against the two human children, and vice versa. Children are so pure they are like little angels to them every child is a friend.
The house was not large so they all had to lie close together, but that made them very happy because they didn't need to sleep in cold, dirty places anymore.
Phoebe is like their mother, she takes care of them, feeds them, and teaches them what she knows. Teach them the rules in school, all of which are necessary for them to survive in this society when she is not around.
