Nineteen years ago, Queen Adelaide was sitting in front of her dressing table while one of her pack members did her hair. “This little one is so busy in my belly, always moving,” she says rubbing her pregnant belly. Queen Adelaide could not wait for the birth of her first child, she hoped that it would be a boy, a prince, an alpha.
“What is that commotion about? Go look!” She ordered the young Omega to go and look what the commotion is about but before the Omega even reached the door of the large room that could fit ten four-poster beds, a Vampire grabbed her and ripped her throat out. Queen Adelaide was about to shift into her wolf form, but the Vampire quickly overpowered her. With little force, he held her in a sitting position at her dresser.
Queen Adelaide knew that a bite from a Vampire would be the end of her, but she was already under his power, under his control.
“There, there now, you will not shift, you do not want this little bundle in your belly to turn out a freak, do you? Block out any mind links” the Vampire compels her. They were instructed to kill the pack and set up the Castle for their own Vampire King and Queen, to waste no time and to just get the job done but this Vampire liked playing with his food.
King Alaric fought of the Vampires with the help of his pack, “don’t let them escape, kill them all!” he minds links them all. He tries to mind link his wife, but he gets no response from her.
King Alaric sped through the castle towards the room he shared with his Luna, his Queen, his mate, his wife, knowing that she was getting ready for the ball. It was already dark and that must be why the Vampires are here. What he does not understand is how did they get into the castle? Someone must have invited them in, a trader in his own pack!
Alpha King, Alaric found his Queen on the floor in a puddle of blood, in one leap through the air as he turns back into his human form he was by her side, “Adelaide, Adelaide,” he cries out, pulling her into his arms.
“The baby is coming,” she whimpers, barely able to get the words out.
King Alaric realizes that the blood she is lying in is from her uterus, “is it normal to bleed so much?”
“No, I got bitten by a vampire, the baby must be reacting to the venom,” she gets out before screaming in pain as the baby inside of her tares her apart within.
“Get the Salutary,” the king orders the nearest member insight.
“Save the baby,” he hears his wife pleads.
The Salutary arrived promptly with a midwife in tow, “as soon as this baby is out, she will be able to shift and heal.”
“Get the baby out now! Brace yourself, who knows what it has become,” King Alaric states with a mixture of anger and sorrow, ‘what has happened to my firstborn.’
The midwife manages to get the baby out and much to everyone’s surprise the baby looked normal. The Salutary immediately took the baby and inspected his mouth but found no sign of fangs.
Queen Adelaide manages to deliver the placenta before shifting into her wolf form. She wanted to hold her child and stayed in her wolf form just long enough to regain her strength. When she shifted back her baby boy was already wiped down. She took her baby and got comfortable on her bed putting him to her breast, “thank goodness, you are ok.”
The wolf pack manage to kill the Vampires and traced their cent back to their rulers. Even though the council that keeps all the different species in check has strict rules about the supernatural world attacking each other, some packs and nest did not obey. When a species was attacked by another the victims are supposed to inform the council and allow the council to sort it out. In the case of Vampires being at fault, their punishment would be to be sacrificed at the next Turning Ceremony, which takes place every five hundred years. King Alaric was so angry and instead of informing the council, he killed the whole Vampire nest that included a line of royal Vampires.
His punishment was for him and his pack to be put to death. With the help of their pack's powerful Shaman, he manages to put a spell over all of his members, they were even invisible to the council. It was only when they stepped off the castle grounds that they became visible.
They named their little prince, Adam. It was around six months when it came apparent that their son is a Vampire-Werewolf Hybrid when he started to teeth. One day while Adelaide was busy breastfeeding him he bit her and that is when she saw his fangs. His fangs did retract back into his gums. Even though he was fussy he did accept drinking from animals. He seldom liked to eat normal food and preferred blood.
One day three-year-old Adam played outside and lingered near the gate of the castle gardens.
“Maurice, watch Belle for a little while, I need a special kind of plant to help my milk production. I am going to the market to go get some, I cannot remember the name, but I know what they look like,” Maurice’s wife, Rosalind said.
Maurice did not know, but his wife was an immensely powerful enchantress.
Rosalind needed to get a special type of plant that grew in the forest for a little bit of magic to help with her milk production. ‘We might live in the 20th century but nothing like a little bit of old magic,’ she thought as she made her way to the forest. Rosalind soon regrets her decision as she thinks she might have torn a ligament when she gave birth to Belle. She decided to take the shortcut past the Castle.
