In most Lycan wolf packs, you will find a slave or two. Most of the time, it is a She-wolf, or a female believed wolfless. The offspring of traitors or something down that line. Ben, a black wolf, was not as much the offspring of traitors but nonetheless, the offspring of two parents that was considered outcast.
Why? You may ask.
Well, let's see. For starters, his father grew up half-beast, half-man. The ugliest creature you would have ever laid eyes on. Because of a vampire attack on his family when he was almost full term in his mother’s womb, he was born a hybrid; half vampire, half Werewolf Lycan. Now, a Werewolf is a creature that can only shift on a full moon and looks like a man with a wolf's head. A Werewolf has legs and claw-like feet and hands. Oh, yeah, and let’s not forget the tail and scary teeth. A Lycan, on the other hand, shifts at will into a full-blown wolf and is normally standing as tall as a human when on all fours. A Lycan shifts for the first time after they start reaching puberty; age 9 to 16 and find their fated mate like a Werewolf when they have reached the end of their puberty cycle, which was most of the time on or right after their eighteenth birthday.
In Ben’s father’s case, he met his fated mate, believed to be nothing more than a human girl long after his eighteenth birthday, as he was confined to a castle with a magical spell on. His fated mate was the offspring of the very same enchantress that he killed after she cursed him.
His mother fell deeply in love with the beast, and in the end, after a horrid attack on his family again where most of the Lycans were burnt to death, his father and mother found out they were expecting a child. Now if you knew the story of his father and mother, you will know that his father also got burnt, but because he was half vampire, that side of him survived. Now, you may ask; how did his mother get pregnant if his father was left a vampire? Well, she conceived the night before the attack.
Soon after Ben’s birth, it was clear that he did not inherit the vampire gene from his father, but they could not be a hundred percent sure. His parents both decide that it was in their son’s best interest to have him grow up with a Lycan pack. It was a hard decision, but after the fourth time, his parents got attacked for what the humans believed them to be; they knew it was a sacrifice they had to make.
His parents handed over Ben to the surviving members of his pack, thinking they will meet up with them soon, only, the new Alpha and Luna that found the pack through an Alpha calling rejected his parents. His father, because he was a vampire, and his mother, because her mother was an enchantress.
His parents were grateful that they accepted Ben and did not reject him because of what they were. They were warned that if he shows any signs of vampirisms or magic, they will return him.

Let me introduce you to Ben. I already told you that he was a black wolf and that was because of his enchanting blood, but don’t worry, his pack does not know. Being a black wolf means that you have magic; the offspring of an enchantress or enchanter, or, if you must, a wizard or witch.
Like his parents, he was a beautiful specimen in his human form. Ben was about seven when his parents send him to live with his father’s former pack.
At seven, Ben was stronger, smarter, and well, prettier than the other boys of the pack and that did not sit well with the Alpha and Luna.
One day after Ben got in a fight with the Alpha’s son for telling him off from his sister and to never talk or look at his sister ever again, the Alpha and Luna punished Ben.
Ben was not allowed to play anymore. He was not allowed to go to school, read, or learn. Ben was not allowed near the girls, especially their daughter. By the time Ben turned ten, he would have given any female slave a run for her money. Ben, at the age of ten, cooked and clean for the small pack of thirteen adults and five kids.
The pack Alpha and Luna watched how Ben grew, always looking talker, stronger than the other boys, so they started to deprive him of food.
Everyone thought the Alpha’s son, Evan, was the first of the young boys that have reached puberty at the age of thirteen. No one knew that Ben beat him to it. Ben had his own secret. Ben shifted one night on a full moon for the first time a few months before his twelve birthday. When Ben saw his black paws, he immediately shifted back into his human form and since that first shift, he was sure to never reveal his identity to anyone. It was one thing to be the offspring of an outcast but a whole different thing to be a wolf without a pack. Being a rogue was not an option, and Ben believed that they would force him to leave if they see that his wolf was black. Ben could feel he didn’t have magic, so it baffled him as to why his wolf’s fur was black.
‘I will wait until I am eighteen and then I will go find my parents,’ Ben told himself every time when things got too difficult. Sometimes Ben wished that he inherited the vampire side of his father so that he could kill them all, besides the beautiful Melina. No matter how badly Melina started to treat Ben, he could never hate her. Ben had black hair and bright blue eyes like the sky whereas Melina had golden-brown eyes and strawberry blond hair. Like her twin brother, Melina reached puberty at thirteen and the twins had everyone wrapped around their little finger.
