A woman with a luxurious appearance half ran and embrace Leah warmly. "So glad to have you back Leah!" She exclaimed cheerfully. Leah smiled awkwardly, this person must be Amy, last night, Jerome had mentioned her name and said that Amy was quite close to Leah.
"You must have forgotten me, right? I'm Amy, we are close friends!" exclaimed Amy while grabbing Leah's hand. Leah nodded, "Yeah, last night Jerome said that too..." said Leah who didn't remember anything about Amy.
"Sorry, do you have a picture of us together?" asked Leah, still a little doubtful about their friendship. Judging from her appearance, Amy was not the type to be Leah's best friend at all.
"Of course I have, wait," Amy quickly opened her expensive bag and took out the cell phone. She searched the gallery for photos of herself and Leah on her cellphone. "Well here it is!" snapped Amy, showing a picture of them smiling at the camera. To be honest Leah looked more like she was grimacing than smiling. The backdrop of the photo looked like it was in an expensive restaurant with Jerome and another man sitting next to him.
"Are you friends with Jerome too?" Leah asked in surprise. Amy laughed, "Yes, of course! Adam and Jerome are like brothers!" replied Amy cheerfully. Leah was shocked, it seems that Amy was not her close friend, surely they are just getting along well because Jerome and Amy's husband are friends.
"Come on, just ask whatever you want to know, I will answer as best I can!" said Amy, she threw herself on the sofa in the main room. Leah sat still, staring at photos of herself and Amy in the cellphone gallery.
"When was this photo taken?" Leah asked curiously. Amy tilted her head, remembering, "I'm not so sure, I think almost two years ago, at the start of your marriage," Amy replied.
It's been a long time ago, meaning they haven't seen each other since then, because Amy is the kind of person who always takes a photo whenever she meets her friends.
"Are one of my daily activities were gathering with socialite women like you?" Amy was not offended, she felt happy because she was called a socialite.
"You rarely come to any event, you are always busy with your work!" replied Amy, slightly irritated. Leah was surprised, "Work? I have a job?" Leah asked, confused. Why didn't Jerome tell her? Leah also forgot to ask because she was busy thinking about her family.
Amy gasped, "You don't remember anything?" said Amy, who did not think that a famous workaholic like Leah Abigail could forget the work she loved. Leah just grimaced, how could she remember her job? She doesn't even remember her husband!
"Here, you once gave this business card to me," said Amy after rummaging through her bag. Leah looked at the business card in her hand as if it was a diamond.
VICAR Corp
Leah Abigail
Director of Marketing & Communications
What?! Director of Marketing & Communications? Wasn't Leah dreaming? How could a dime like Leah get such a good position? What had she been doing in her lost five years?
With just a business card in hand, Leah felt like she had regained her confidence. At least this time she felt like she had a chance to find out about herself from another perspective. She was only in a coma for two months, surely the people at VICAR Corp still remember her.
"What for? Your brain may not be ready to absorb too much new information!" Jerome babbled when Leah said she wanted to visit VICAR Corp tomorrow. Leah sighed, "My brain is fine Jerome! I'm just tired of my cluelessness! At least I can start researching my life from there," Leah said desperately.
Jerome fell silent, his expression dark. "A lot of people at VICAR want to get rid of you Leah, don't trust anyone easily, okay?" Finally, Jerome allowed Leah to visit her old office.
Leah nodded, 'Even to trust you is difficult, how could I possibly trust someone else so easily ...' Leah muttered in her head.
"Are you going to bed already?" Jerome asked when he realized Leah was already wearing a silk robe with lingerie on the inside. Leah reflexively tightened her kimono robe because her breasts looked a little bit poking out, she didn't want to make Jerome tormented by not being able to touch them.
"Umm yeah, I'm just here to get a glass of wine because I've been having a hard time sleeping lately," Leah replied, she avoided Jerome's gaze who seemed excited to see Leah in her nightgown.
"Let me accompany you to drink," Jerome said as he poured wine into his glass and Leah's glass. At that time they were in a drinking room that overlooked a giant glass wall that presents a night view of Manhattan.
Leah felt bad to refuse Jerome's invitation, so she finally decided to sit in front of Jerome and took a slow sip of the delicious wine in her hand. while her other hand was still busy covering the top of her kimono robe.
"By the way, what kind of business are you running now?" asked Leah who didn't even have time to find out more about Jerome because she was preoccupied with her thoughts.
"Artificial Intelligence," Jerome replied proudly. Leah was quite surprised, she thought someone like Jerome might be doing a job in property or finance. "And you are?" Leah asked, curious about Jerome's position in the company.
"Founder and CEO," Jerome replied trying not to sound arrogant but failed. "Wow that's good!" said Leah honestly. Although he doesn't know how big Jerome's company is, from the luxury of his Penthouse, it looks like Jerome's company is quite big.
"Kings, I mean my company, will get the title of a Decacorn startup in this year because our valuation has reached 10 billion dollars!" exclaimed Jerome proudly. Leah smiled as she raised her glass, "Well, congrats on your accomplishment!" said Leah, who had been confused because Jerome always called Kings 'my company' not ours. Maybe Leah didn't own any shares there.
Their wine glasses clashed, making a loud clink that made Leah feel like asking questions about Jerome more and more. "So Kings were formed before you met me?" Leah asked in a casual tone.
Jerome nodded, "Yes," replied him who didn't seem very fond of the topic.
"Talking about meetings, I'm always curious, how did our relationship start until we could become husband and wife?" Leah asked, her eyes fixed on Jerome's, so she could catch the slightest trace of lying there.
"It all started with a seminar held by one of the big startup companies from Silicon Valley. I and you both attended the seminar, we got into each other there and everything continued quite smoothly until we finally got married," replied Jerome with a smile reminiscing about the beginning of their meeting.
"Oh really? And what year was it?" Leah asked, still digging. "2018," Jerome replied quickly. Leah nodded her head. Jerome poured more wine for him and Leah, this is their third glass.
"What got us married? Do we love each other?" Leah asked carefully. "Sure, how can two people get married if they don't love each other? We are crazy about each other Leah, and until now I still feel the same feeling..." Jerome's hand moved to reach Leah's. Surprisingly this time Leah did not withdraw her hand.
Jerome's hand stroked Leah's hand softly, his gaze staring at Leah with a longing gaze. Leah took a deep breath, trying to control herself. Jerome is her husband, she should not be afraid!
Jerome suddenly got up from his seat and leaned over to kiss Leah's half-parted lips. Leah closed her eyes, trying to feel her feelings. People say the feeling of love can be felt when we kiss the person we love. But surprisingly Leah didn't feel that kind of feeling right now.
When Jerome kissed her, Leah's mind kept turning around, she didn't even feel the urge to have sexual intercourse at all. Her body refused.
"Umm, I'm so sorry Jerome, I haven't been able to go that far..." Leah reflexively pushed Jerome's body as Jerome's hand started to drop and felt her breasts. Jerome's face stiffened at once. He cleared his throat softly and adjusted his watch awkwardly.
"Yeah, it's okay! Maybe we should go to bed, good night!" said Jerome without looking at Leah. "Good night," Leah replied softly, her hand still on the top of her robe. She let out a loud sigh after Jerome disappeared.
Leah leaned back against the sofa, tomorrow during her visit to VICAR maybe she will get more answers to her questions, Leah gloomily took a sip of her wine, which was only a little left. Suddenly Adrian's face flashed across her eyes. Why couldn't Leah stop thinking about that man?
