Ch. 2Hellion

Hellion being able to pass the exam became a huge gossip in the academy. They all threw dirty water at her as soon as she entered school.

Everyday became a difficult challenge for her and as she got a hold of the news from her sister. She was petrified. She actually expected to drop out and already signed up to the weaponry division, however seeing how the tables turned made her want to flunk everything and hide.

Hellion had no idea how she managed to pass. It was not even in her expectation so she decided to head towards the school’s office to inquire. However, the teachers were tight-lipped about the matter and refused to tell her anything no matter what.

Hellion eventually felt helpless. The rumors had worsened to the point that her classmate started to call her a teacher’s pet.

A bitch and even a furnace.

Hellion really want to refute! I didn’t sign up for this! I already expected to fail this semester but why!

Her mother even praised her for being able to pass and it was really nice to be praised but this is too much!

Jeulle also began giving her a nasty look. Everything became messed up and soon she willingly dropped herself out. Though it made the teachers feel disappointed by her choice, Hellion insisted.

Learning magic is not really her thing and weapons are more up on her alley so she signed up for the weapons course again.

Hellion head towards the lonesome practice grounds. Only a few people actually wielded weapons in the kingdom so the place was practically empty every time she came.

From there, everything became peaceful again and she started cultivating her dagger skills.

She made a few acquaintances and partners in learning so she wasn’t lonely.

It was that particular summer day that she went to the filed to practice another trick. Hellion pulled out her dagger from her waist and as soon as she entered. Her classmates gave her a smile.

Look, their idol had come to practice with her again.

Hellion instantly became some sort of a leader to her classmates because of her amazing skills. The trainees also increased as the commoners began to join out of curiosity.

On a corner, one of her classmates spotted a silhouette and sighed as she silently walked up to Hellion.

“Senior, your sister has been lurking around the practice grounds lately. Don’t you think she’s being a creep for a while now?” She curiously asked as her eyes focused on a certain spot.

Hellion silently looked at the corner where Jeulle was hiding. She’s indeed been following her for quite some time now. It got a bit irritating, however she soon got used to it.

“It’s fine.”

Hellion said as she told her classmate to continue practicing. Jeulle’s behavior has been strange lately and she does wonder why she’s been following her? Does she have nothing else to do?

The root of the problem is that,

Jeulle still hasn’t forgotten the time she saw her disappeared and that scene was deeply engraved on her mind. Her sister’s ability poked her curiosity and started to follow her then. She would stalk her on her way to the practice grounds and follow her when she’s about to go home.

She simply lurked around her like a shadow.

Her stalking continued until they reached the age of sixteen.

….

Soon six years had passed…

The sixteen-year-old Hellion mastered daggers and knives and Jeulle became a well-known senior at the academy.

Jeulle finding nothing after all this years decided to stop following her sister and became a proper student. She became the youngest arch mage there is and finally surpassed her teachers and even her father. While Hellion became a weapon expert,

Time flew by and the day of the election of the heir to ascend the throne finally came.

The Royal family announced the grand event and started to pick candidates from all over the country. Hellion and Jeulle naturally got selected as a candidate.

Jeulle grew as a gentle and loving girl who cares about her juniors while Hellion became colder and distant to anyone. She became quieter and serious, making a lot of people fawn over her.

After the selection of heirs. It’s finally the time to pay respect to the temple. The Phoenix blessing was the day where everyone would be blessed with a gift.

In order to finally become a full-fledged adult, the youngsters had to initiate the coming-of-age ceremony on the day of the Phoenix Blessing.

Jeulle and Hellion’s turn finally came up and the two dwelled in their room as they thought about the visit.

Hellion knocked on her sister’s door to remind her. After a few knocks, Jeulle came out looking exhausted. Her face sticking out the door as the pair of emerald eyes peek at the person who knocked.

Jeulle became remarkably beautiful and looked exactly like their mother while Hellion became mature and stern just like their father. The two were famous beauties and the ones on top of the election board.

Jeulle lazily opened the door as she let her sister in. Hellion took a seat and spoke.

“We have to go.”

“It’s finally the day Mother asked us to see the Priestess eh?” Jeulle sighed in reluctance.

Hellion surveyed her desk then saw a pile of books and overly scattered papers on the table.

“It seems you’re really busy.” She lightly spoke as she glanced at her.

“I still have to write spells so…’ Jeulle scratched her head. She had a lot of stuff to do but she just couldn’t disobey her mother but she really can’t go.

Hellion sighed and went up on her. She then nodded at her and finally turned towards the door.

“Lione, are you going to see the Priestess in my stead?” Jeulle asked as a hint of anticipation flickered in her eyes.

Hellion paused for a moment to think. It should be okay to go alone. Hellion then finally agreed.

“Just… help me pick what to wear.”

“Thanks a lot!” Jeulle instantly lit up and ran up to her, giving her a tight hug.

After awhile, both of them went to Hellion’s room.

Jeulle sat on her bed and watched her pick some clothes on her wardrobe. Hellion rummaged through the closet and picked a set of white uniform.

Hellion took it out and showed it to Jeulle, feeling reluctant to wear it.

“What’s wrong? It looks good.” Jeulle said as she looked at her.

“Is it disgraceful to not wear whites?” Hellion asked as she look at the set of clothing.

“We had to.”

Hellion start putting on the set of clothes. She looked at the mirror and sighed. She wore a knight uniform, trimmed into a coat that’s up to her wrists and a pair of white pants. Her robe was designed with a golden brooch on her left chest and a sash casually hanging on her right shoulder. She really look like a newly selected knight.

Hellion hid her necklace underneath the coat. She then turned around to ask.

“Is it okay?”

Jeulle glance at her sister’s dress and smiled. White suits her more than the usual black outfit she wore every time. She enthusiastically commented as she gave her a thumbs up.

“It’s perfect!”

Hellion pursed her lips as the cold sweats flowed profusely on her face. Jeulle wrinkled her brows as she look at Hellion who seems to be thinking about herself facing the gates of hell.

“Is the Priestess scary?”

Jeulle asked curiously. She still haven’t been to the temple or had a chance to meet the Priestess so she doesn’t know what to say. Who knows if her Holiness was scary and not that kind as she heard of.

“Not really.” Hellion simply replied and smiled at her, she glanced at the mirror one more time before turning her pace to the door. Jeulle silently watched her as she took a step and open the door

“Well. I have to go.” Hellion said and eventually shut the door.

‘Sigh…’

Jeulle just shook her head helplessly and decided to go out too. Hellion didn’t really intend to let her pay a visit to the temple which is very favorable for her. Though she felt disappointed about it.

Their relationship just became colder and distant unlike before. Back then, Hellion would pester him to come to somewhere with her and would throw a tantrum if she reject her. But now….

She left her right away as soon as she said she can’t. She really did change a lot. Jeulle really wanted to know if she was still that Hellion she knew.

“I guess she’s already grown up.” Unlike me.

Jeulle went back to her room and started to write spells again.

Hellion trudged on the hallway as she walked onto the way out. The carriage was already prepared beforehand and was only waiting for them to take off.

However, it looks like she’s the only one going.

The Coachman saw her and finally approached her side. Hellion was looking through the window that’s supposed to be connected to Jeulle’s room in deep thought.

Does she miss her sister already? The Coachman thought as he cleared his throat. They’re about to be late.

“Princess, we have to go.”

“Ah. Yes. Let’s go.”
