Ch. 3Chapter 3

When I woke up I was already inside the hospital lying in a hospital bed with a bandage covered in my eyes. I heard two familiar voices talking near me.

"How are we going to tell Lauren everything? She might not accept when she finds out what happened."

"She has the right to know what happened to her family, Lina."

I couldn't stand it and immediately interrupted their conversation.  "Aunt Lina, Uncle Favlo. What are you talking about? Why am I here in the hospital? And why  my eyes covered with bandage?"

I think they were surprised when I suddenly speak so they both become silent.

Uncle Favlo, my dad's youngest brother was the first one to speak. He clears his throat before he starts to speak with me.  "Lauren, please don't be surprised what I'm about to tell you..."  he suddenly stopped talking and took a deep breath. A minute had passed but he still couldn't be able to talk with whatever he wants to tell me.

"You're killing me, Uncle Favlo. Just tell me directly what you wanted to say," I impatiently told him. Unfortunately, that happened last night.

"You're parents were both dead, Lauren. They were murdered,"  Aunt Lina continued what Uncle wanted to say that he was unable to continue.

Aunt Lina's words were like a show that suddenly flashbacked on my mind. I finally remembered the whole incident that happened last night.

My eyes widened, my body suddenly trembled and my chest tightened as I finally remembered everything. The bitter truth exploded in my face like a bomb. My tears flowed quickly down to my cheeks.

"No. It's not true! My parents were still alive. It's not true that they're gone," I insisted as I continued to cry. I really can’t accept that they were both dead.  That I am now alone in this world. "Aunt Lina, please call my mom and dad. I want to go home. I don't want to stay here anymore."

Even though I couldn’t see I got up from lying down and try to god down from the bed. But my uncle stops me and force me back to the bed.

"Listen, Lauren. I know how hard it is for you to accept the truth. And I know how this hurts you a lot. But no matter how hard it is, and no matter how it hurts you, you still have to face the reality. "

"No! What you told me is not true. It was a big lie!" I shout at them. I really couldn’t accept the sudden loss of my parents.

"Lauren, it's true. When the police came to your house, they found you hugging your mom's lifeless body, while next to her body was your dad's lifeless body too. The police said that it looked like your dad died earlier than my sister, " Tita Lina's voice was very sad as she told me the information she got from the police. She hugs me so tight while crying. It was obvious in her voice that she felt sorry for me and for what happened to my parents.

The brutal murder of my parents entered my mind. Mom's moan seemed to be very weak. Maybe she forced herself to moan loudly just to warn me of the impending danger to my life. It was as if my heart was being squeezed off that thought. And the reason why my father didn't come to helps us it's because he was already dead. Ani It turns out that he died earlier than my mom.

How am I supposed to do now?  Why did the killer didn't kill me too so I could be together with my mom and dad? Why did he let me lived? To suffer alone?  No. I will not let my parents left me in this world alone. I should follow them to heaven. With that thought on my mind, I pushed Aunt Lina away. And again, I tried to go down the bed but Uncle Favlo immediately stopped me again.  He hugged me tightly so I could be able to move.

"I don't want to live anymore! I'm going with Mommy and Daddy! I want to go with them!"  I wandered off to escape my uncle's tight embrace with me. I tried to forcibly remove the bandage from my eyes but he quickly grabbed my hands. I scratched him in the face, punched, and bit his shoulder.  But no matter what I did, Uncle didn’t let me go. He still hugged me tightly as my two hands clasped on my side.

" Please let me go, Uncle Favlo. I want to go with my mom and dad. I don't want to live anymore," I beg him while crying out loud. But he never let me go.

"We know that this incident hurts you a lot, Lauren. But you have to be brave for your parents. Don't make their souls in heaven worry because they left you in that state. You are brave, Lauren. I know you will go through this test," Aunt said, giving me words that could encourage me to stay alive.

"But I am now all alone. And with my current condition, I would rather die than to like this forever."

"You are not alone, Lauren. Your aunt and I were still here. We're not going to abandon you," Uncle  Favlo said with determination in his voice.

"No! No! All of you were going to leave me someday. You will think that I'm just a burden. I must follow my parents so I don't have to be a burden to anyone!" I shout at them.

Even though Uncle Favlo was a man, he still couldn't control himself and cry. I know he pities me. While Tita Lina couldn't stop herself from crying out loud. Like Uncle Favlo, she also felt sorry for me. And because I was still acting like I'm going crazy so my aunt was forced to call the doctor. The doctor came quickly and injects me with a sleeping drug. After the doctor injected me I suddenly feel the gradual heaviness of my eyelids. In a moment I closed my eyes and completely
fell asleep.
