Ch. 8Chapter 8

At one o'clock in the morning, Cassey woke up feeling thirsty.  She carefully got out of bed and went to the kitchen to get a cold drink. She felt relieved to feel the flow of cold water from her throat down to her stomach.  After she drank the water she was about to return to her room when she noticed Dindi's soul standing on the edge of the curtain and motionless as she stared outside. She was looking at the bright moon but it was obvious that her mind was not on what she was looking for. She seems in very deep thought.

"What are you doing, Dindi? Why aren't you resting yet?" she asked her. Only then did she move when she heard her voice was.

"It's you, Cassey," she said weakly when she looked at her.  "Weren't you scared when you saw me standing there by the window?"

She smiled slightly. "If in that situation we met again after the hospital I would probably be scared. I might even die from being so scared of you. But now is different. I'm used to seeing you wandering around here inside my house at any time."

"I'm glad that you're not afraid of me anymore." Dindi smiled but didn't reach her eyes. "I'm sorry yesterday. I left suddenly without letting you know. I can't understand why my head hurts every time I see Jason."

Cassey stared at Dindi's face. She never thought that they felt the same way when she saw Jason.  Suddenly her head also hurt for no unknown reason. But she didn't just say to her that they felt the same way about Jason yesterday. She didn’t want to add to her thoughts.

"Why, Dindi? Do you have a problem?" she couldn't stand the sight of her looking sad so she asked.

She let out a deep sigh before she speak. "Because I thought nothing would happen. We can't solve my problem if we don't do anything. I'm tired, Cassey. I want to cross over to the afterlife and keep quiet."

"I'm sorry, Dindi. I don't know what I'm going to do to help you. I'm such a useless person."

"No, Cassey. It's not your fault. If only I could remember what happened to me before I passed away, everything will be alright. But I'm useless. I don't remember anything." tears began to stream down her cheeks from intense frustration.

"Don't cry, Dindi. I hope you'll remember everything too. Don't give up."

Cassey could do nothing but look at the crying ghost. She couldn't touch her to caress its back or hug her because she was already a ghost. She just sighed deeply. He thought only the people who were alive were capable of feeling the frustration. Because even though Dindi is dead she still feels intense frustration.

"All right. Tomorrow morning we'll go to your condo unit. We'll start investigating your condo unit."

Maybe there is an answer to all of their questions inside Dindi's condo unit.

###

Cassey just realized that Dindi and her best friend Clea live in the same condominium building. And they were also neighbors with almost the same number. The room of the two is also very close to each other. And she thought it was a weird coincidence.  Her best friend's room number is three zero six while the actress' room number is three zero nine.  And she found it weirder when Dindi told her that the owner of the condominium they both lived in was Marcus. And Jason was the one who managed it. So many coincidences.

An idea wanted to enter her mind but she quickly erased it from her mind. She did not let that enter her mind and aroused a bad suspicion.

"Why isn't the door to your unit closed, Dindi?" she asked her companion when she saw that the door of her unit was slightly open.

"Don't come in first, Cassey," she stopped her when she was about to go inside.

"Why?"

"I will check first if there's someone else inside. Maybe it's Marcus but I hope he's not here or else you'll have a hard time explaining to him   why you're here in my condo."

She has a point to this so she let her enter the unit before her.

"What happened?" she asked as she frowned when she saw her expression when she comes out.

"There's someone inside my unit. And I don't know who he is," she replied quickly.

Carefully and slowly she entered the slightly open door. And Dindi was telling the truth. There is a man inside her room. And he didn’t seem to have a good purpose in entering there because he was wearing a black bonnet. Maybe he doesn't want people to see his face so they don't recognize him because the cuts were scattered in that building.

"What is he doing?" she weakly asked Dindi. Like her, she also hides behind a divider even though no one can see her because she was already a ghost. Unless that person has a third eye.

Based on the man's actions, she can conclude that he is looking for something from the woman's belongings. Later he suddenly picked up four USB's which she saw scattered next to a laptop.  Quickly he took the USB and inserted it into the pocket of his jacket.

"Why did he take your USB? What's in there?" she wondered. Just like her, he was also full of astonishment on her face while looking at what the man was doing.

"Sshh. Don't be loud, Cassey. He might hear your voice," Dindi scolded her.

The man was very careful because he didn't want to leave any evidence that he entered that room. What Dindi's belongings are arranged inside her unit are the same as her arrangement when he returns the touched her belongings. And actually, he even wore gloves on her hands to make sure no trace of its fingerprints would be left in that area.

When the man put the recovered USB's in his pocket he took a black backpack and quickly inserted the laptop. Then he quickly walked out the door.
