Other than Clement, Jordan was the only other person Lindsey knew. Approaching people when she had someone else’s face was like attempting to climb Mount Everest.

Jordan and Lindsey strolled the halls in comfortable silence until they got to the parking lot. Lindsey knew it was weird for Jordan but she needed her company. Jordan didn’t ask questions anymore or stare at her awkwardly.

Clem was by the car with his usual radical looking crew and his new girlfriend Amber. She’s a red head in serious need of a protein package at a salon. Serge’s German vehicle was right where she left it.

‘Hey Jordan, you know that guy—’ Lindsey fumbled with her words.

Jordan raised her brow. ‘What guy?’

Serge emerged from the school, Lindsey bobbed her head at him when he stopped to speak to a guy.

Jordan smirked and narrowed her eyes at him. ‘I see you. He’s okay but that one is more up my alley.’ She pointed at Clem and Lindsey gagged.

‘That’s my brother.’

Jordan sucked in a breath and chuckled. ‘Well then, if anything does transpire in the near future at least it won’t be a surprise.’

Lindsey rolled her eyes. ‘I wouldn’t recommend Clement no matter what happened.

‘So what about him. He hasn’t been here along. He’s a senior which makes him eligible and he’s not bad on the eyes.’

Lindsey bit her lip then nodded. Serge said goodbye to his friend and found Lindsey with his eyes. His smirk invited her over. Heat rushed to her face. Had it been that long since she was involved with a guy? Where had all her doubts gone? Her mind churned with a million possibilities that didn’t scream loud enough. She weaved goodbye to Jordan and darted to the car.

‘Hey Lindsey!’ Clem yelled.

‘See you at home Clem.’ Lindsey slammed the door on his protests.

‘Should I be worried?’ Serge chuckled.

‘Oh, no. That’s just my brother.’

‘Hm then I should be worried.’

He shifted the gears and the car was backing out of the lot. Lindsey consciously avoided Clement's bewildered face.

‘What to come over for a minute before you go home?’

‘Yeah, whatever I don’t have anything else to do.’ Other than bags of homework and unpacked clothes, laying in wait for her.

Serge drove into his driveway. Lindsey exhaled, whatever doubts she had about Serge weren’t strong enough because she found herself walking behind him into his house. The house on the outside looked identical to Lindsey’s but the inside had to have come out of a magazine.

Black wooden floors, dazzling diamond chandeliers, plush and leather couches decorated the living room. Guitars in black frames hung on the walls and other family portraits as well.

‘Do you play?’ Lindsey walked to the white guitar on the wall in the living room.

Serge shrugged. ‘A little, it’s more of my Dad’s thing. I prefer the piano.’

Lindsey didn’t see one anywhere but the living wasn’t big enough to house a grand piano.

‘Come on,’ Serge headed into the kitchen. He opened the cupboards and pulled out two massive brown mugs.

‘Coffee? Tea?’

‘Uh, hot chocolate?’

‘Hm you have a sweet tooth, don’t you?’

Lindsey offered him a smile. The house was so quiet the only sound that came from it was the cups bumping against each other.

Serge handed her a cup, his fingers brushed her hand and for the first time he lingered on her face. Her pink lips, full cheeks and chocolate brown eyes.

‘You’re looking at me like that.’ Lindsey whispered.

‘Like what?’

‘The way everyone else does. All they see is Leah.’

‘Can you blame them? You have an incredibly strong resemblance.’

‘That’s all that is.’ Lindsey gripped the cup and the heat burned her palms. ‘Did you know her too?’ Lindsey asked.

Serge shook his head. ‘It was all anyone would talk about when I moved here. When I saw you for a split second I thought they found her but it would have been front page news everywhere and when I checked the news it wasn’t I was sure I hadn’t seen correctly.’

The memory of their first encounter flashed in her brain.
‘What do you think?’ Serge asked.

Lindsey rolled her eyes, she thought she wouldn’t be able to walk down the streets until Leah’s case was solved.

‘Is there any possibility you could be related?’ Serge set his cup down.

‘What? No, we just look alike.’ Lindsey put her cup down too. Heat burned in her tummy. She had to get home, Clem was probably about to blabber about her leaving with a stranger.

‘You should consider all possibilities.’ He shrugged.

‘I don’t think there’s anything to consider. It’s getting late Serge, I should go.’
Lindsey abandon her half drunk cup of hot chocolate. Serge walked her to the door, the orange sky and gentle breeze welcomed Lindsey when she stepped out if the door. The presence of Hollow Woods lingered in the distance.

‘Lindsey—’

Lindsey turned to Serge, the sun beat his face, shinning on his bright blue eyes.

‘Need a ride tomorrow?’

Lindsey smiled and nodded. She started in the direction of home. Three cars parked in the driveway. Her heart beat speed up at the black and white car behind her Dad’s truck.

‘Why are the police back?’ Lindsey bit her lip. She glanced at Serge's house, she considered running back but she urged her feet forward.
