A few hours before dawn, Avy slipped out of the palace and made for the harbor. She didn't want anyone to see her leave. It was evident in her mind what she opts to do. She didn't want to waste time arguing with anyone who thought her plan was too risky. She just hoped she wasn't too late.
By the soft light of the stars, she soon spotted Light's ship, the Arcadia, bobbing gently on the waves. She smiled, and a shiver of nervousness ran through her system. With a quick glance to make sure no one was around, she headed for the gangplank.

It didn't take much for Avy to bribe her way onto the ship; just a few jewels she had brought for one sole purpose incredibly worked out. She stayed out of sight below the deck until she felt the ship moving off. Muffled sounds drifted down from above. After waiting a few more minutes, she crept up to the deck.
It was still dark, but a lantern burned on the deck, giving her the most light she needed as of this time. Light was standing there with his other friend, Ray, a huge man with a shiny bald head. Avy tiptoed as close as she dared, staying hidden as she listened to them speak.
"So," Ray stated, "Any idea how we actually get to Xebyss, man?"
Light turned to look at him. "Xebyss?" he repeated.
"People get killed in Xebyss, man! There's no way in hell I would think to go there!" Light's manly chuckle upbeated.
"So, where are we going now?"
"Gobi. I want to go to the Gobi." Light declared while crossing his arms over his chest.
Avy clenched her fists. She had been right. Light had no intention of going to Xebyss, which means he also doesn't have any single intention to save Winter. This heartless jerk! How can he do this to his friend? What a scumbag! Avy talked within his thoughts.
Not needing to hear any more of the thief's statements, she backed away, heading towards Light's cabin. She might as well check to see if the Book of Peace and Light was hidden on the ship.
A quick search of Light's cabin turned up with no sign of the Book. But there were all sorts of other artifacts and treasures there. Avy was amazed at the wide variety of ancient kinds of stuff.
How many exotic places had Light visited on his travels?
How many wondrous things had he seen or taken?
Those are one of the dozen questions Avy has on her head. She can't help but be amazed at what her eyes wandered through the massive collection on the cabin.
"Stolen from Venezuela," she murmured, examining a dagger.
"From Pimlico," she added, noticing a blue-orbed amulet.
"Good guess, babe..." a voice said behind her.
Avy spun around, obviously startled. She had been so distracted by the treasures that she hadn't heard Light enter.
"But anyway, what do you think you're doing here... Ms. Ambassador?" he demanded, raising his perfectly slitted eyebrows in the manliest way.
Avy quickly regained her composure. Light was a harsh and experienced sailor, but she wasn't going to let him see that he had made her a little nervous.
She shrugged. "I'm here to make sure you get the Book of Peace and Light."
"Yeah?" He plastered a mischievous grin. "So you're into the position of guarding me? Wow. That's... damn."
Avy heaved a deep sigh, "Light, you're not a very complicated guy. All someone has to do is imagine the most gutless course of action, and you're bound to take it."
"Hey, this is not my problem." Light sounded defensive.
He plopped down on his bunk, "I didn't freakin' steal the Book."
This time, Avy actually believed him. But she thought of Winter sitting in the cell meant for Light. He trusted his old friend to do the right thing, but Light turns out to be heading into the wrong way.
"You're really not going to lose any sleep over this, are you?" She asked.
"Not a wink, babe," he replied immediately.
She shrugged again. "Alright. If that's what you say. But for me? I'd be tossing and turning, knowing I'm alive because I let my friend die."
It was evident that the words hit him hard. He sat up straight, his expression twisting into one of irritation and guilt.
"I'm not responsible for this fuckin' mess." Light jumped out of the bunk.
"I didn't ask Winter to put his neck on the line for me."
"Clearly, I can't appeal to you, your honor," Avy told him sarcastically.
Seconds later, a slight grin appeared on her lips, "But I have other ways of convincing you."
"Oh... really? In what way is that, hmm?" He sounded so skeptical, yet he doesn't forget to speak it in the most sexiest way.
"By speaking your language." Turning to face him, she revealed dozens of large, glittering gems. As she held it up, it caught the light and sparkled brightly. Avy saw Light's eyes widen slightly, but he quickly hid his reaction.
"Keep talking, babe..." he said.
She pulled out a velvet bag and dumped three more beautiful jewels into Light's hand. Then she stepped back and waited for his response. She pasted a confident smile on her face, trying not to look as nervous as she felt.
"Hmm..." Light studied the gems with his most concentration, "This will do..."
Avy's smile broadened. Yes! It had worked!
"...but not for the first class."
Her smiled faded. What the?
