Ch. 8Reuniting with Loved Ones

“No worries Una just think you will be in the arms of Callum before you know it, all will be well, forget about that wretched father of yours—give no more thought to him!” replied Fenella with anger in her voice.
“Yes of course you are right Fenella—I can't wait to be reunited with Callum—and you with Keary—but I must go back and face my mother and father I want to know the truth of why we came to be living such a miserable life. Before I can move forward I must find out the truth of my past family history.”

“I will want to accompany you to your father's house Una, as I too have some questions that I need answered by your mother” replied Morgan softly to Una with teary eyes.
Una and Morgan both silently starred at each other as they both began to realize that they could be victims in a horrible coverup that needs to be uncovered so that they both can move forward with their lives. Effie needed to answer some questions so that they would be able to piece their lives back together and build a future for themselves, hopefully finding some closure where it was needed.

Suddenly they could hear horses approaching coming from the direction of Dumbartonshire. Could it be the men that held their hearts—coming to their aide? Indeed there coming over the hill on the road ahead were Callum, Keary and his brother Egan riding towards them at in a fast gallop. Both the women felt their hearts lift when they saw their men coming towards them. At last they could feel safe knowing that they would be well protected by the men that they truly loved.

They surrounded Morgan with their guns drawn and pointed at him. The women shouted at the men explaining that Morgan had helped them to escape from the evil men that had captured them. Once all was sorted the men thanked Morgan for doing the right thing and rescuing the women from the foul hands of the Black brothers and Jimmy Gopps. Everything was quickly explained to the men, especially about the change of plan. Una was determined to go back and get some answers to her questions once and for all. Both Una and Morgan needed to hear these answers directly from Effie. They were not going to stand for any kind of aggressive behavior from Fergus. Morgan would put him in his place, he was looking forward to setting things straight once and for all. He had waited many years to finally have this chance to see Effie once again face to face and find out what happened all those years ago.

As they made their way back to Una's father's house they came upon the Black brother's and Jimmy Gopps. After Keary gave a few good rounds of punches to Dillan, knocking him off his feet, for abusing Fenella, they left these three sorry soles, keeping their horses as punishment for their cruel treatment of the two women, pointing out to them that they are lucky that their lives were spared. The three men ran off into the distance, never to be seen again.
“We can sell the horses at the Milton market and buy some fresh food and supplies there with the money” replied Morgan.

All agreed that this was a good plan, they stopped to refill supplies, and sit down and enjoy a meal at the local pub accompanied with some mugs of ale. Before dinner Keary and Callum took the women shopping for new dresses, as the ones they had were not in great shape anymore. They got the women a room in the hotel, were the women went to bathe and change into their new gowns before dinner. Una had gotten a lovely sage colored dress and bonnet to match, this outfit brought out the lovely shade of green in her eyes, she looked so beautiful. Fenella playfully gave a spin for Keary in her knew dark purple down and light purple bonnet, it went well with her lovely black hair. They all put their troubles away and enjoyed a good meal together with that was accompanied with some cheerful song and dance from the locals. Keary and Callum had the two women up dancing having some much needed fun time. It had been a fun filled evening for them all, but it was now time to get some rest for the day that lay ahead of them—facing Fergus Mullen. The men were able to bed down in a loft of a barn, and the two women retired to their room for a good nites sleep.
